Another good tip is to look for new routines when our circumstances change. Harriet has had a lot of that this past few years with school times changing and her father coming to live with her and adapting to his needs.

For us, one of the new routines is stopping to think as we go down to the car. What needs to be carried down. What will need to come up later? We can't just 'run back in' to grab a forgotten item so we have to do a final check before leaving the 22nd floor. If we have a lot to take, we take the folding grocery cart and if we expect to do a lot of shopping, but are leaving with empty hands, we do the same so the cart is waiting to carry the load up when we get home.

I'm s2s now. And water is out on three radiators. Somewhere we have a humidistat. I need to find it and start measuring.

I have one DGSon who is very gifted and in all advanced classes at school, he is so smart, and he wants to be an engineer someday, and lego kits are his favorite thing to do.
Our dgs14 is like that as well, Harmony. He already plans to go to RIT in Rochester gearing to be an engineer. He's always liked Legos and has 1,000's. He used to make movies with them and put them on his Youtube site.

I'm really tired today. Slept much better than I thought I would. DD got in late -about 11:30 last night. They were going to be 'early' but had to wait for cement trucks on the tarmac in Atlanta. So it was well after 12 by the time we got home. I read for a few minutes & woke up at 4, went to the bathroom, and climbed in the recliner till 8. Slept most of that time. But I've been headachy and my tummy has been churning. I think a lot of that is the situation going on right now that involves lots of $$$$. Think I'm sick at the thought of using so much of our retirement. Supposedly we're to have it all back by spring -BUT I find myself anxious about it. And by taking such a big chunk this will also put us in a higher income tax bracket. Think I need to sit down and have a good talk with that guy upstairs and ask for calm.

On the treadmill now but not at my normal 3 mph.

I'm reading Drop Dead Healthy by AJ Jacobson and got to the treadmill desk chapter.

I've been spending far too much time sitting lately and thought I'd try this for a bit. Because of the deck of the treadmill (and the fact that it is on a layer of cushioning cork and foam) the steps should not aggravate my knees or feet that much.

When one of our friends came over he was thrilled we had a treadmill desk and thought dh uses it. He doesn't, he just works standing (or sitting on the exercise bike.) It is me who types and walks but normally to multi-task, not to avoid sitting which is why I'm doing it now. I find I sit much more here than at the house due to standing on the floors hurting me so much. I've got to reverse that.

Forgot to say that my biggest 'start' is getting the bed made first thing. Think the rest of the day hinges on that good start. I can't NOT make the bed. Bet it's been less than the fingers on one hand since we moved into the RV full time -back in 2004.

TBT - becoming aware of things that need to be done and developing a plan to do them was a major eye-opening experience for me. I still remember the first time someone said they cleaned their baseboards. WHAT? I truly didn't even know if we had baseboards (we do) and it never crossed my mind that I needed to clean them. I don't remember ever cleaning them growing up. DMom is BO and I think has always done these things without thought. She has always kept an clean house seemingly so effortless. She considers my cleaning on schedule a bit weird and unnecessary.

Last night was NOT fun. It was exhausting physically and emotionally. I wasn't prepared for how hard it would be to get the bandage off LO. I worked for 2 hours and managed to peel/cut away about 10 layers of tape and gauze.....with LO crying or yelling OUCH most of the time. We started with taking a shower as instructed. The instructions said the bandage might fall off before the 48 hours and to not worry about it. There was NO way that bandage would fall off. They put so much sticky tape on it that we had to cut it off in sections. The final layer of gauze still remains to be done. I called DH and told him I needed him. He came home and accessed the situation. His suggestion was to cover the whole area including the remaining layer of gauze in a thick layer of ointment with hope the ointment would make removal easier. We have been doing that for the past 12+ hours and I think we might be close to being able to remove it. I want this experience to be OVER. I am absolutely sure LO feels the same.

I'm alternating between chores and helping LO with his school work. I'm giving him lots of breaks because he is still on pain meds. He likes doing the homework, but in small chunks.

It took me 3 hours to write this because I keep jumping around from one thing to another........I'm over 5000 steps at noon and I haven't left the house.

Morning ya'll...

What I learned from P&P that changed my life and still use today.

Clean up the kitchen right after dinner, before I sat down :D

Set up a weekly schedulel for running the house.

Monday - House Blessing, laundry and change bedding
Tue - Free day
Wed - Desk day, mow the lawn
Thur - Grocery and errands
Friday - Misc... usually I revacuumned the living areas and did extra laundry

When I was working I had to adjust it a bit, but now that I am retired I have reverted back to this schedule, unless I am called in to sub.

Enter room, clean left to right.

Put basket...usually my laundry basket... in front of door so I can put articles that belong in other parts of the house in there instead of leaving the room to place them in other rooms. That way I didn't get sidetracked. That was HUGE for me and really cut down on my cleaning time.

Find homes for everything and put them back as soon as they are used.

Let go of emotions when decluttering

Nothing takes as long as you think it will, so just start and do it

Once I started following their plan, my house hummed. Back then I was up by 5:00 am for my quiet time, and found I could get much of my work done by 9:00

I learned much more using P&P's system...When I was working I did the same as Kathryn, I had my clothes ready the night before. And sometimes on Sunday nights I would hang a weeks worth of clothes according to the day. Made life a breeze.

I also adopted and brought the sister's system into my classroom. Many teachers loved how well my classroom ran and used it with their own rooms. I even gave workshops on how to use the sister's system using their desk as the sink.

Like I said the Sister's system was life changing for me.

I recently bought a food saver. Several of my friends have one and love them. Today I plan to make my spagetti sauce and will make a double batch. That way I will be able to freeze enough for another dinner. I like cooking that way and the food saver will allow me to keep my frozen foods for a longer time without getting freezer burned. I hate wasting food. I can also use it with foods I keep in my refridge. That way my fresh herbs will last longer and not go to waste. Will take me a while to learn how to use the food saver, but I'm looking forwards to using it.

Like Dee, I always make my bed as soon as I get up, unless Sweetie is still sleeping in it....but as soon as I know he is up I am in there doing it. However this is a habit I have always done.

LM seems like a soak in the tub might be helpful.
