Thanks for the reminder K in C I get more done with peppy dance music on. Trying to work on my bwp I have made some progress I have the morning free to do that.

I have the 3rd and final batch of cookies in the oven two other bathes are now in the freezer.

helia, I knew you were busy - thanks for the update! Hello to the guinea pigs and the rest of the family.

CathyS has not been around much. Miss her.

((LadyM and LO)) It's such a blessing he has a calm and patient "nurse"!

Cleaning - I do think that it could be hard to leave the perfectionism behind and say, "I'm only going to be perfect on this ONE part today." But I have had to do that - I don't think I had a choice. It probably had to do with young children being reared over a long spread of time, for instance, rather than born close together to offer a stopping point. And the one born 5 years after the sidetrackable girl was a sidetrackable AND slovenly boy, who frankly took longer to rear to, shall we say, "the self-cleaning stage" . Also, no sooner did I get this latest sidetackable girl up to an age to start doing her laundry, etc., we brought my ddad in needing a different kind of time, care, and understanding of messes.

However, I think the concept of perfectionism and sidetrackability being close cousins comes in to this. I may have always had the mindset that if I can't be perfect, then I will blithely sidetrack off somewhere after the day's focus is done. Ahem ... sometimes before the day's focus is done, but let's not discuss that. Anyway, I have been somewhat forced into acceptance of one area (or one task) done at a time, and the rest in varying stages of waiting their turn. I'm used to it, and yes the vacuum cleaner has sometimes been admired by our visitors, since it is sometimes waiting around, right there in view.

BTW: report on the sidetrackable offspring:
Eldest girl - amazingly correct work-life, struggling on household upkeep (4 little boys are challenging, though)
Middle boy - highly disciplined in work & household upkeep, complimented often (I'm as surprised as anybody.)
This latest one - Sigh....well, the grades are good.

Emptynester, I hope your dd has a wonderful school year. Her maturity will serve her well. The flowers were a thoughtful gift.

Kathryn, tell ds that when I saw the picture, I immediately thought of Lucille Ball and George Reeves in the classic "wall-scaling" tv episode. (scroll down)

Ramblin', I looked over the one for which you mentioned me and realized I'd better not look at all of them yet! True, it could be engrossing! I will save others for treats. Btw, I've always been sure jean pockets could have lots of uses. The fancier they get, the more I think they should be salvaged!

Taking a break...

LM...I've been reading articles about how to remove surgical tape off of skin...you can google it and read the sites.

Most all suggest the same thing...soaking the area with oil,m any kind. Some say baby oil, some olive while others say cooking oil. The other suggestion was to call your pharmacy and see it they sell certain produces to remove the tape. I've also read that some dr's offices carry a product made just for LO's problem of removing the tape. Hope this is of some kind of help.

I have finished my first phase and am about to start my second. I veered a bit off of my original plan. Instead of mopping my floors I opted to clean all my plantation blinds...they are in all my rooms...and wash down a bunch of doors. Also hung a full length mirror. I can get back to the floors later if I have time.

I see some big cleaning days ahead of me..I'll wait till the weather cools and I can open my windows. Lots of areas need my attention. I always vacuumn my floor boards, but what they really need is a good scrubbing. That will require a bucket of water, some oxy cleaner, scrubber and sponge. Also a really good knee pad cause it looks like this will take a while. Hopefully I can find a day when Sweetie will be working on his car and I can play some turn-it-up music on my stereo system instead of my iphone. That way I can really get into a groove.

I am working tomorrow. One of my past teachers called to see if I could come in for her. Need to find something to wear, but that problem should solve its self as I am heading into my closet to purge and swap around my seasonal clothes...

Thanks for the (((hugs))), suggestions and encouragement. When LO isn't in the tub we are keeping it covered in Neosporin ointment. TMI.....last night I was making a gauze tent over the surgery area and accidentally got a piece of tape stuck to the "sack" below the surgery area. I rubbed neosporin ointment on the area and newly stuck tape and it came off after just a few moments. However, his surgery area is tooooo tender to touch like I did for getting that piece of tape off. I keep telling myself to not get discourage and that we are SOOO close to being done with this.

DD and DGD3 are safely away. They are about an hour into their long drive.

LM, glad to hear that dd and dgd are on the road. Hoping for the best for them.

Home from round of errands and getting groceries. Need to go back out for mums, I didn't care for Lowes selection needed some other things there. Before I left, I climbed up and changed light bulbs in the back of my closet and also pulled out the washer and dryer to get the rod that fell down from behind them. I can ck those off the list.

I was going to mix up the cookie dough next (two batches) but the eggs and butter needs to come to room temp so I'll go back out to the nearest "produce stand."

DH called to let me know that the dfather of dfriend had passed away - we have often spent Christmas eve with these friends and their family. I am just hoping that funeral won't be on Thursday - Rosh Hashanah.

Kathryn, a group does the rappelling off buildings here as a fundraiser, albeit without superhero costumes. The building houses one of the banks, thus they are a major sponsor. Hope ds has fun and can forget his troubles for awhile.

Good afternoon everyone! I have gone to the state fair and picked up both my items: 2nd place on the purple jacket and 3rd place on the Barbie dress. I got dinged for animal hair on the jacket, but the person who is getting it has animals too. I stopped off for lunch, and guess who I ran into? The X. At least I didn't have to see the other woman. I wished him a happy birthday and we ate together and discussed DD12 and her weekend with me. I have lately been thinking of the Bible verse about being nice to your enemy = heaping burning coals on their heads. So true! I am always scrupulously polite to the other woman, and she is so uncomfortable she hides from me. I am relentlessly nice to the X and can see him feeling ashamed and guilty (appropriate feelings for committing adultery). At home, Elizabeth's Own Plumbing Company had to unstop a toilet, YUCK!

Snark Alert!!! I can't help smirking at the fact that the X was all by himself at lunch on his birthday. I suppose I should be a better person than that, but I'm not.

Last night, did I meet my goals? Nooooo. I have reclaimed part of the house: the kitchen is back to where it was before the twin friends, and the hallway has only one box that needs moving. DD's room and the LR still need reclaiming, but should take, at most, 15 minutes each, probably less. I did not do the cooking I had intended because the meat was already a suspicious color and smell. It was only one day past its sell-by date, too.

Here is what I need to get done this afternoon:

get and print information for job interview Wed
assessments for a recruiter
get info for financial advisor appointment tomorrow

What I will do on breaks:
room recovery LR and DD's room
crisis cleaning slips\

Pending stuff that really must be done soonest: paint and sew Anna coronation dress, design and sew my Elsa costume

Congratulations to EmptyNester's DD for sticking to it and achieving her goal!!! I am also glad that your DH only broke a basket rather than himself or the dog.

LadyMaverick: I posted a link yesterday with a potential solution to your random music and ads computer problem. Just wanted to make sure you saw it. I hope it fixes it.

Poor LO, hope this all resolves itself soon. And (((Lady Maverick))) for having this parenting challenge.

We're home from singing and going out for a drink with the tenor after. Awfully tired and still have tonight's class to go to.

The luncheon wasn't great. Started out great (butternut squash soup and salad) but the lamb meatballs were in a cream sauce that neither dh nor I enjoyed. I had a peanut butter square for dessert that was good.

I will probably eat more dinner tonight as a result. Have to fill in my food diary and see what the situation is.

Elizabeth - THANK YOU for looking up the audio problem and possible fixes. Yes, I have tried all those they have suggested. Everything tells me there is no virus/trojan/worm on this system. Windows & dell tell me I have the latest drivers but I went looking more and found a Realtek audio driver that is just a few versions newer than the one currently installed (version 6.0.1.6788 to version 6.0.1.7023) I'm currently downloading installing it.

LO situation has become worse. ARGH! He was playing the a ball and it hit him THERE. It started bleeding and wouldn't stop. Not gushing but too much to ignore. I called and talked to his pediatrician and he told me to cover it in vaseline and it should stop the bleeding. He thinks a small scab probably got knocked off. After trying that for an hour I then called the big city children hospital and talked to the nurse of the surgeon. She told me to put gobs of ointment on it and wrap it tightly putting pressure on the spot that is bleeding. I told her it was too tender to touch and her response was "tell him to Suck it up, buttercup. You will be much more gentle with him then the ER people will". Sooooooo......DH and I are now taking turns holding pressure on the gauze wrapped around IT.

When DH arrived home I asked if I could leave for a bit. I needed a break. I went outside and raked grass for 15 minutes. It was enough of a break to be ready to start again.

Ds got home just as dinner was being dished up. I had made up a full large frying pan of stirfry veggies and meat (I was using up a large chicken breast leftover from Saturday) and so split half with him.

He's off to bed in a few minutes because he's working tonight. Hope he can sleep - he's still on a rush. He says he has the perfect response to "How are you doing?" His reply is "Not bad, I was dumped on Saturday night so this morning I went to the top of a 20 storey building and jumped off."

He had a great time recertifying the people scaling the building (at the bottom) and half way through the day was moved to the top and worked with the owner of gym, who was impressed with how well ds works with people who are nervous or downright afraid. Then he was given the opportunity to do the scaling down the building so he 'jumped' at it and said it was awesome.

We looked at his pictures while we were eating dinner.
