Are we all getting back on track?

For me, the week should be getting back to traditional schedule starting today. Last week was a social whirl that extended into the weekend. Yesterday DH was home and we didn't do much of anything but rest and recover.

Saturday's charity 5K race event was a fun time. I worked the registration table and it was pretty easy, except when the computers crashed (of course) and we had to Call the Man who owns the computers over from his table. The problem was in his wi-fi router, which was a relief because I was afraid that I had pushed a wrong key!

Must do a bit of laundry and then cuop. BBIAB.

Today is trash day. I am waiting for day light so I can do chicken chores and get the trash out to the curb.
Back to school routines and schedule begins today here. ToddlerN will be here around 8 to just after 4 unless the granny picks her up before that, the mom has another job and is taking online classes and 1 off line class this quarter.

getting back to traditional schedule starting today

Bookie - I'm right there with you. Finally. It has been a long 7 days of LO surgery recovery but hopefuly the worst is over. LO is returning to school today. I'm hopefully it goes okay without any more mishaps.

I've been following schedule the first 3 hours of my day and looking forward to the rest of the NORMAL daily schedule.

Trash day here as well, Nancy!

I was up by a little past 7 a.m. this morning. I woke up convinced that I just need to do what I can and not make myself crazy about having so many people over for the holiday. Even dh is now wondering where we will put all these people....Current count is approx 42 including 6 kids from two or three y/o up to 13. Of the 42, three are going to the lunch at the restaurant (where we went last year) and then coming here, probably just for dessert and visiting. And dh keeps adding stuff to my list...."are you going to.....?"

Today I'm also having lunch with friend/former coworker.

-walk ddogs
-s2s
-get garbage out to street
-light breakfast and take meds
-two phone calls:
----yard guy (dh is balking on mowing this week)
----pedicure today or tomorrow early?
----vet for meds for dMacs

Am s2s, breakfast, meds done & bed made. Anything but traditional here. I'm just trying to focus on 1 step at a time. Think that will be logging what's left in my dresser and closet today. Also want to pick out my clothes for church Sunday and pack any other things that are 'dressy' that I won't need. Already have my outfit for dpastor's wedding on the 4th. Then I'll pack those. Maybe I'll even find more for G oodwill.

My living room looks like it's been 'sent for' as my Mom used to say. I do have the large suitcase all packed and dh can put that in the trunk any time. Will start filling a smaller suitcase and pulling things out of cupboards, etc. Hopefully it will be an easier process than last year. Especially since I'm leaving a lot behind.

Beautiful out this morning after a very cold night -still cold, but sunny so it seems nicer.

Stress is beginning to rear it's ugly physical head on me I'm afraid. Some of me almost thinks about not posting for a bit, but then I realize this village is what keeps me up and going sometimes. So I am making myself post and 'feel' normal. This too shall pass. Hmmmm.....where is the book I recently bought with that title? I know -you don't know, but I think I know. It would probably help me to read a few pages here 'n there.

The advantage to the smaller car is that you have to take only what you need. Makes this end of the trip harder but settling in will be faster and coming back north will be easier because there's less stuff to think about.

I'm up and at it. Just finished breakfast and am dressed. Bedroom has a shoe disaster thing happening, but aside from that is neat. My shoes were awful for walking yesterday so I was trying new PF insoles (not orthotics) in my newer dress shoes but they didn't feel right, so then I tried them in another new pair of shoes (M instead of W so really the wrong size, not sure why I moved them!) and finally back to yesterday's shoes but with the new insoles. So far they aren't as bad as yesterday.

I think I'm going to have to buy more shoes since I tossed a lot during the move. The key is to get properly fitting, better quality ones. My tender tootsies wear out too quickly (often only 4 - 6 wearings) so all but 2 pair, including the ones that don't fit, were moved. While typing this I've decided to get rid of the wrong-size pair. I should stop them from taking up space.

My TOM arrived this morning. Sigh. On the other hand, I weighed myself and am the same weight. So at least that's changed as I age. I used to gain 2 - 3 pounds each time my period arrived and my period used to come every 24 days. Made dieting very traumatic since any slow & steady progress would be wiped out once every 3.5 weeks.

We are singing again today, this time out in our village so have errands to run there as well as on the way home.

It is a beautiful morning here again. Clear, cool and a slight breeze. Everything is still green from the monsoons and the air is fresh. Great day to be alive.

Thank you all so much for the good wishes for DD1. She was thrilled with the flowers. She has 14 kids in her 2nd grade classroom. She is in a school district in central IL where there are little towns that serve a farm population. I think she said the whole town is around 1000 people. A lot of yesterday was taken up with paperwork including getting fingerprinted at the local sheriff's office. Altho she is only about 15 miles from home it is a different county so she had to do all the security paperwork over.

So glad LO is well enough to go to school. Hope all goes well on his first day back.

DH and I had a meeting at church and then came home and watched THE BEARS win!!! So it was a successful night.

Today I would like to get a plan going to work on my craft room. I can barely get the door open and any and all stash and dash goes in there. I know what I have to do but can't seem to make myself do it. In the meantime - there is always the 3 D's which are also calling my name. It seems like I have done nothing in the last year since we quit traveling. I'm not sure if it is just getting old, ill health, depression or laziness. Maybe it is a combo of all four.

Absolutely right about the packing, Kathryn. I'm being much more selective about what I am and what I am NOT taking. There are stores in FL. Was going to tell you, too, that dd just ordered some sandals from a place on the internet. She had ordered two pair and sent one back. She said that shipping was free and easy to return. Spent a little more for them I think, but they feel fabulous on. Can't remember what she said the site was but I can find out easily enough. Guess size is a much better selection that most stores.

Dh is coming soon and we're going to sign papers for this withdrawal. When this part is over I will feel a little better, but there's the issue causing great angst right now. One that I hope will rectify itself within a week or so. I'm praying -hard. The outcome affects our whole family in lots of ways.

Going to come back and empty my dresser drawers and evaluate what's there and what can go and maybe take pics of what I am leaving so I don't drive myself crazy in FL thinking this or that should be there.

Spent about 40 minutes re-doing our l&&t of dates between now and leaving. Lot of things to remember to do on particular dates. A lot of them are winterizing RVs for dh. Had the list done but needed to change some and add others. Will keep tweaking it as we go and just print out a new one so he's able to see what is when. Dh actually got quite a few odds 'n ends done yesterday. I've told him to go ahead and take down the big flag on the berm and the flood lights that shine on that and on the water wheel. He'll need to empty the water from that soon as well. Also told him to go ahead and take down our lights on the deck and the Corinthian chimes and put them all away. Think we're done entertaining so all the chairs can be bundles & tarped. We've usually put them in the deck bin but decided this year to just pile and tarp them. Next up will be for me to empty the deck fridge of beverages and put some inside. Some can stay outside in a milk crate and will probably be sufficiently cold if we need them. Have the big suitcase sitting on the steps for him to put in the trunk. Have a whole box of paper goods: plates, flatware, paper towels, cups, plastic bags, etc for him to use after I leave and when he comes back in the spring. Even bought disposable coffee cups for him -trying to help him avoid having to do dishes. He just won't have time.

Dee: the border makes a HUGE difference. I have yet to find a shoe retailer offering anything like the deals on shipping and returns that US online sellers do. For instance, I just googled online shoes Canada and found a website with dozens of lovely, flats that look promising. The first three I looked at were final sale only. Yeah, like I'm spending $60 on a shoe I've never tried on and that I can't return.

I would buy my trainers online since I've bought them for years and keep wearing them out. The price is slightly better (last time I found them in a store they were $180 compared to $130 online) but haven't found a Canadian source for them so have to pay exchange and taxes at the border (plus the cost of a trip across the border which is higher now that we live in the city rather than half-way between the city and the border.)
