Wednesday's work

Hard at Wednesday's work here. After school run I just plowed in to dd's room, where, yesterday, we moved things around. I want her to have a clear floor for HER vacuuming this afternoon. :) I'm going to toss her sheets in, I think, just to keep her impetus up. This morning she was at a low energy, for sure. She says she gets in the bed at night but doesn't sleep well, and I suspect too much light. We need to revert to the orange light only again and forbid anything else.

It's TRASH DAY (in case anyone else needs the prompt). I have several bags gathered from around the house including recyclables.

Hi ho, hi ho.

I'm to the point that a stash and dash is in my future. And this house has a lot fewer places for stashing!

I decided during the night that I will p/y my mom's meals but deliver and visit her and deliver on Friday. (The JCC is closed Thur/Friday/Sat.) That will free up some time today, and I'll certainly be more attentive to her on Friday.

I don't think I mentioned yesterday that I sliced a knuckle open yesterday. I am going to get steri-strips today to see if they will help hold it together. It's bandaided up firmly but is still oozing, I think.

I said last night that I don't know where to start.

-text cleaning lady for estimate as to when she will be here this afternoon
-plan timing for trip to JCC/drugstore/grocery today
-breakfast/meds/vitamins
-straighten great room
-take cod from freezer for gefilte fish

Harriet, you're hard at work early! It's recycling day here, I will organize and get it out in next round...

Good morning, gals. You're both at it and going 'strong'. I've had breakfast, meds and am just finishing my coffee.

Dh had a dentist appointment at 8a.m. of which I reminded him about 6:45. At 7:48 I called him & asked (calmly) "are you not going to the dentist this morning". His reply, "Yikes! I forgot! I'll be right up." I met him at the steps with the keys. He (of course) got involved in a project and forgot. Did 'nag' him not to speed. It's at least a 12 - 15 minute drive. (If one is not caught by a train.) :? He's just getting an adjustment on his lower plate.

I'm trying to proceed with packing and clearing. I do have one wonderment -I thought my box of jewelry was hidden away in my closet. Well I must have hid it VERY WELL as it's not there nor in my dresser. I'm really bewildered. I know I brought it north with me and just haven't used it this year. So praying that that 'lost' may be 'found' -soon so it doesn't drive me the rest of the way 'crazy'.

Will pack the second suitcase today. Went through a lot of 'carry' bags yesterday and shredded a lot more paper and refiled others. Getting it pared down.

Have to go to the credit union today -about 20 miles- and deposit THE check. Makes me nervous even thinking about it. Have to call first and see if I can just write a check from my regular bank account or see if I have to go get a cashier's check. Maybe I'll just drive in and if I have to, I'll go to the other bank and back. Our investment $$ are always deposited to this one bank -which is no longer close to me. They've closed a number of branches. The only reason we keep it is this particular bank is plentiful in FL and the credit union -not.

I'm thinking I really don't care for this brand of coffee. Looking up to see what French Vanilla k-cups would be on Amazon. Figured out how much each kind was per cup. That's a lot of money a month for coffee doing it this way. Will have to figure it out. Dh and I both like French Vanilla. And I'm finding this a bit too strong.

Twins Don't forget the option of putting things in the tub and pulling the shower curtain when doing a stash and dash. On Monday I had to pull a large box out of the tub so the Super could touch up a paint chip in the tub! (It was there from Sunday's stash and dash and I have a place for the items but ds was asleep in it when I was tidying up.)

The timing of the Super's visit was great because the place looked fabulous. It was cleaned up for Sunday and then we were out most of Monday so hadn't messed it up yet. He hadn't seen the apartment since we finished unpacking and loves the living and dining room. Dh was talking about adding the large antenna and we were willing to keep it in the corner but he said we needed to drill a hole through a panel because it would look trashy in such a nice room. I said, "as opposed to the bike beside the couch?!" and he laughed. Dh and I no longer see the bike but I'm aware it is there and sometimes move it to the balcony if we are having guests in. I just find it easier to grab the bike and go when I don't have to wrestle it out on the balcony and through the door into the living room. I still don't like to go close to the edge and have to when I'm moving the bike into its spot out there.

Today is major fog. When I got up I couldn't see the roads below us. It was on the new; traffic is slowed down causing a major hold-up since our bridge is the route into Ottawa for about 40,000 cars each morning (and back home again at night.) During rush hour, we can't use either the river parkway or the fancy Driveway because they are clogged with people. Thankfully, there is a back entrance into our neighbourhood (although turns into it are limited to stop people from cutting through.) We never go places in the morning but in the afternoon, if I'm coming home from dd's there's a 3+ hour period where I have to take a longer route. The same will be true when I go to ds's new place. Even as early as 3:30 can find us stuck trying to get onto our street from the Driveway. On the plus side, this is only car traffic, so quieter than the truck noise we had constantly from the highway behind the house in the village. Commercial vehicles are not allowed on either road we now overlook because these are National Capital scenic roadways, not regular streets.

Dd is coming today. We'll talk swimming pools and gym memberships.

I need to follow Drucker's advise and get moving. Since I'm in control of all my meals today, today I need to get back on track. And since I'm not taking 4 hours out of the middle of my day to exhaust myself with singing (standing and singing for an hour is actually very tiring, possibly more so than preaching), I need to get moving physically as well. At the very least, I'll walk dd back to the transit station. Perhaps I'll even ask her to let me know when she's on the bus and meet her there too.

I also got two counters of the kitchen cleared (out of four) and the dishwasher emptied while I waited for my eggs to boil.

I hope I don't drive you folks crazy today but I'll be posting to keep myself on task and moving.

I decided will do errand run after dcleaning lady gets here, which will get me out from under her and allow me the max time this morning at home. Downside to that is that I can't work along with her but I'll deal with it. I'll start a list for her of additional things to dust and take a little extra time on. (Everything that I mention to dh that needs to be done, he responds.....why don't you ask the dcleaning lady to do it?)

-organize recycling and get out to the street
-work on one more kitchen counter
-do back patio straighten up
-clear breakfast bar of everything not related to serving tomorrow
-walk the dogs

Kathryn, LOL! Unfortunately, I don't have that option downstairs as we have a standalone shower (with a glass door) and a separate "garden tub" and then a 1/2 bath powder room. Upstairs the shower would work but the bonus room (also known as the dumping ground) is only steps away! Our old house had a lot more closets and hiding places.

Twins - I'll join you. :) Posting always helps me to stay in on track.

LO is more sore today than before. I suspect the increased activity is the reason. We are using the nurses phrase "Suck it up, Buttercup" as a silly way to deal with the uncomfortable movements/moments.

Next up - CFO cards

Stash and Dash tips - (Are we doing this? because I could go on and on...) Also, remember the idea of an attractive tablecloth or other textile over a big cardboard box full of whatever. I can see this done beautifully in my head, nice enough for the LR, with a second smaller table scarf over the first, and some pretty non-breakable knick-knacks. :)

Check ins driving me crazy? - No. More likely to encourage.

Finally s2s and lots of things done. Still looking for jewelry -be glad when that's not on my mind -but perhaps that's a good thing right now.

Going to leave in a few to go to the credit union and write that way too big check. :? Then will come back and begin doing a little more cleaning out and packing. Would love to have it all done in a week and be able to (kind of) relax.
"as opposed to the bike beside the couch?!"
Love it! How often do we have something placed somewhere for such a time that we, ourselves, no longer notice it! Except if we look around with company eyes.
