Grumbling. Internet is flaky here because of the walls.

Sometimes I get it at my desk, sometimes not. The Bluray won't stream anymore. Can't chromecast in the bedroom. Was, at one time able to cast to the tv in the bedroom but that went away a long time ago. Ds can only get internet at the foot of the bed, not at the head in the spare bedroom. In our room, we can usually get signal at the head but not the foot.

None of this affects dh who has his computer plugged into the router, not wireless.

Anyway, 3 weeks ago, I bought a powerline to move the signal to the second half of the apartment. But I didn't buy a wireless one. I did buy the only on the shelf. And it turns out, they don't make a wireless one. So we needed a second router. A week or more went by as dd looked for our old router which we had loaned them. Turns out they are using that and gave away their old one before the move here.

So earlier this week we went to buy a cheap router. Then I realized that part of the problem may be the number of devices we have connected (12 by first count.) Many of the cheaper modems were only rated for one or two devices. So I bought a fancy, high speed one that is rated for HD streaming as well. The hope was that I would be able to return the powerline and just use the $200 router since it would be the right tool for the job. Except, I can't return the powerline because we've had it too long.

So I'm frustrated. For at least 6 weeks now, I can't reliable use my computer at my desk. It will work online, then stall, and although it says its connected, I have to unplug it and move to the other half of the apartment. I've been watching tv on it instead of on the tv in the bedroom because I can't cast and the bluray has been unused because it plain doesn't work.

Today, as I moved my computer one more time, I lost my temper. I've been waiting and waiting for a solution so I can work at my desk (with a proper chair and keyboard at proper height and second monitor if I need it) and for weeks that solution hasn't come despite me buying everything (or more than everything) we need. So now I've pulled dh from his task at hand (which is revenue generating) simply because I've had it.

I feel like I'm being unreasonable except I've been very patient and politely persistent and have got nowhere.

We leave in 15 minutes so this won't be fixed by then (it takes far longer than that to configure a router, especially when there are 10 devices to be added to it and some are really tricky things.) But it will be done by the end of the night and hopefully tomorrow I can watch tv while working.

K in C We had flaky net service yesterday a very windy day. Iffy this a.m. but got my earleir post done. Posting from the basement here now surprisingly works good. Same cell phone co. (Sprint) that we have will not work a block from here strange for us works great for us here even downstairs in the basement. How weird is that?

Time for my knitting show glad pbs is up and running today two wks ago it was on the fritz. They had a tech. Glitch.

Am thankful for this distraction today from frustrations mentioned in other threads they are skippable.

Morning ya'll
I am still walking around in a fog do to my migraine hangover. I can hardly focus on my Perry Mason, and like Nancy need MORE coffee.

Just wanted to say I have my mom's Boston brown bread in a can recipe... It is steamed not baked. Found a way to do it in my slow/crock pot cooker. I will post the link once I can walk out of this fog. In the mean time I will do mindless things. Yesterday Willis got a bath and had his ears cleaned... At least I think it was Willis I bathed and not Sadie

Also was able to "sleep walk" through two loads of laundry and all things were placed in their proper places although I did try to put the measuring cup in the fridge and the peanut butter in a drawer after making cookies for the pups yesterday. That's when I decided it was time to go back to bed

Gonna work on some mindless things around here this morning. I think I'm good for making my bed and another load of laundry. Will let ya'll know how it goes...

Thanks, RR. I found one online that I posted in the Misc. recipe thread. It'll be interesting to see how close it is to your Mom's. Wonder what ever happened to Mom's old recipes......

Dh and I went to town to A. get the mail; B. Go to $ store to see if they had large calendars (not); C. Fill the car up and D. dh go into hardware for 4 cases of RV antifreeze. Got the first 2 done when dh's 'boss' called because his dwife couldn't get any water in their RV. So we came back with the last to not done. Took all of 30 seconds to turn on the valve. Then we went back to town for gas and the antifreeze. Now we're home and dh's lunch - a grilled peanut butter sandwich- is ready and waiting. Also cut him a slice of that brown bread & spread the cream cheese.

Think I'll take a spin to W mart this afternoon to see if they have those large calendars, hopefully one that I can fill in the dates. Only need it this time of year. I've tried listing in order of dates but have to keep changing it.

Oh my! that's as far as I go however minutes ago. Fire call came over for here and I went out to fetch dh and they were kitty corner from here. I went up to let the ambulance & rescue trucks in. Unfortunately this man has been our neighbor for years and was found on the floor by his brother. Not sure how the brother got in actually -unless dh let him in. We usually have to let visitors in. But maybe he had his brother on his membership so he already had a remote. Now if I can stop shaking. Feel so bad for this man.....he had Huntingdon's and we've all been quite concerned about him for many weeks. BBL

Oh, Dee, was the man still alive? I hope you're feeling better.

Also hope MT's DH will be better soon, sorry to read he has more surgery ahead of him. Never heard of a lead moving like that.

Happy holidays to TwinsMom. So much easier to say than that sentence Kathryn posted!

Wishing Kathryn an easy fix to the computer problems. Must be awfully annoying.

I was at least 2 hours fixing a computer problem last night until very early in the morning. So stupid. DH wanted something changed on his FF Moz. and we had no idea how it got that way. I tried something which took the whole tool bar away then couldn't figure out how to get it back... and googling the problem I found loads and loads of posts and complicated fixes, which I did try. Finally, found the solution, 4 clicks of the mouse and everything back nicely and fixed the way he wanted. So stupid. I couldn't believe it.

I went out to the bank and another store. Got another houseplant and 2 more tomatoes and a couple packets of seeds which actually have seeds in them! Got the seeds and plants all planted except one packet I haven't figured out when/where to plant. Sunny will smile, finally found cleomes which our Dad had all over the place and we called them spider plants. I read they can be nuisances here, but if they multiply I'll just pull out what we don't want.

Going to work on the houseplants now. I got a bag of potting soil and I found my pretty pots I used to have plants in at the other house. I need some greens in my family room. I'm gong to separate the ones I bought.

So nice having bittersweet with us today. How are your dgkids doing?

No, Harmony, he was not. Sheriff was just here asking me some questions -most of which I just don't know -like when I last saw him. I think yesterday, but not sure. He's obviously been gone for a while. 67. In fact when I let the ambulance in they told me they had just been cancelled and were turning around to go back to base. The rescue trucks however were here for a while. Sheriffs obviously have to stay until the ME comes, etc. And in the meantime the brother can't leave either. Feel bad for him. Luckily it's a nice day and one where there are very few people in the park.

tech units & all the cameras, etc here now. Of course they need to make sure there was no foul play & when was he last seen. Dh may know that better than me. Know he's been telling his boss he's been concerned about him and some of his actions lately.

Oh, Dee. I'm so sorry. You've mentioned this fellow before.

We are at the house now.

Two more sections of the tower are done, just the last two. From this point it is ladder work, not tower work.

Dh is at his doctor's appointment and I'm taking a break. All I was doing was chatting with my neighbour's wife and watching. Her dh and ds were doing the hard work. Gosh, I'm going to miss them as neighbours, they are the best kind - quiet, helpful but not disruptive or noisy at all.
