Monday moving

Sounds like a lot to me, MT. I've been 'moving' too. Just finished putting up dh's meds for 3 weeks. So before I leave I'll fill 2 weeks' worth & he should be good until he gets to FL to join me. Found a 3rd container that his visiting nurse gave us last year -sure wish I could find some like it. Each day locks so much better than the other 2 I have. I keep his Flomax in a 'locking' container that just has 1 compartment for each day since he's supposed to take those at bedtime. o

Gal that's riding down with me stopped over to be sure she had our phone numbers in her phone. Also got hers and she put in our dd's as well.

Another beautiful day here, but so far dh has been busy with campground issues and has yet to start his own agenda.

I have the dish 'crocking' away for tonight's potluck (our last for the year). After tonight dh can start pulling the sprinklers in the rec hall. Not all have to be pulled, but those which have 'elbows' do so they don't freeze. Some are 'straight' down and they don't need pulling. Once that's done he can start storing golf carts for the winter. There's a $100 winter storage fee for those. Have a feeling there might be a few more this winter as the guy who often stores them is leaving the park (guess he is going to keep a 'seasonal' membership however) and I think he's charging more per year than here. They're recharged during the winter and the distilled water in the batteries is checked.

I'm not moving very quickly this morning because I had less than 4 hours of sleep last night. I'm going to have to take a nap soon or I won't be able to move at all.

So far I have:
* fed the cat (most important! )
* treated the kitchen drain with baking soda & vinegar
* washed dishes
* breakfast toast with peanut butter & sliced apple, coffee with milk
* worked part of a crossword
* checked FB for family news-- a DNiece is pregnant -- DSis's fiance bought a new Harley ( I thought he already had a new one)
* dealt with many Emails
* researched a legal question for sewing group
* programmed the dvr to record tonight's new Big Bang Theory and Scorpion
* found a winter hat online for DH and sent him the link to ask if he likes any of the colors
* dealt with more Emails

Morning ya'll...

I'm with you Bookie cause I am slow moving as well today. Might have something to do with fact I stayed up till after midnight finishing my book and then was awake by 6:30 this morning.

I've already done my morning routines and picked up all my footprints. Also have two loads of laundry going.

Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood...boy do I miss that man Want to walk Willie Boy a little later. I did take him to the nature reserve yesterday. It's right up at the end of our road. Hard to explain, but there is a dirt water retention wall that is 8-10 feet wide and at least 8' high. Walking to the end is about a 2.5 mile hike. This path is used by many...hikers, off road bicycles, people trail riding with their horse...lots of activity at times. Willis loves to go because there are so many "smells" on the ground and in the air.

However I couldn't do much walking with him yesterday. There is a leash law for all dogs, but at least 3 people had their dogs off leash and walking. Willis sometimes, but not always gets excited around other dogs..which leads to much barking on Willis' part. I have a training collar that I sometimes use...it emits a shock when I push the trainers remote. I seldom have to use it, but it certainly has help both Willis and me curb his inappropriate behaviors when other methods have failed.

I was not in the mood to test Willis out because of other people ignoring the leash law. We ended up walking along the desert floor and following some washes. Still I hate that I have to change my plans because others dn't follow the rules. The good new is this experience has pushed me to take Willis to a Cesar Millan certified dog trainer that is located here in the valley. The people at this center will evaluate Willis and then set up a program to train ME, not Willis, in how to make Willis an even better dog. My goal is to be able to take Willis any where and not have to worry about meeting other dogs either on or off leash...this will open up a huge window of opportunities for the both of us.

Need to switch laundry, then Willis and I are going to spend some outside time enjoying this wonderful weather. I also need to get into my closet and do the summer/winter switcher roo....

I was up early and moving as soon as my feet hit the floor. I had washed the whites last evening and hung them outside really early. Went to big box store and renewed membership and had picture taken.

Yesterday I put another beef roast in the crockpot and cooked for my friend. Today I called and took it down to them. Oh, my. She has a hospital bed in the living room and I gotta say I've never seen her house look so messy. Her DH is a bit overwhelmed. He's doing her tube feedings and mashing up all the pills, vitamins she's taking to include and he says it takes an hour 4 times a day. I put her on the meal list at church, because her DH doesn't have time to cook for him and his son and she gets upset if they grab something unhealthy.

We've had a lot of rain too, like Sunny said Sat. Our swales were all full again.

My purse is 3 lbs. loaded. I keep some things in the car, nail clippers, paper, water because I'm rarely out of the car for long periods of time. Lucylee, that purse is beautiful but I liked the blue version right next to it. I have a real leather one dd gave me and it's beautiful but heavy. I don't use it much. My fabric tote, like the one Harriet linked to is lighter than my vinyl one. You do carry a lot of stuff around!

Loved reading the penny addition instructions etc. That was fun. I'm glad it worked.
Here they are teaching that dumb whole math cr__ and DD who is a substitute says it takes longer for them to work out problems. They no longer memorize the times tables. Yuck.

Good afternoon folks! I slept WAY too late. However, the A number 1 priority item has been done: thank you notes to interviewers. Next up is lunch, I have a good lunch planned: roast beef, black eyed peas, and the last of the dressing from Thanksgiving. After that, I have some high priority job applications to get done, then an email check.

Medium priority stuff:
finish painting dress, start sewing skirt
crisis clean items
pictures for Dad
wash sofa cushion (finally found that smell)
cook cube steak (this time I won't wait too late, it was bought yesterday)

Lower priority stuff that eventually needs to get done:
animal org minutes
move some money (or at least check status)
pattern fix to Ravelry

Quick C. I., Ladies!

Am in the process of doing 3 LOL. Fell asleep in my recliner, am getting old, I guess, and the fireplace insert fire's so nice! The GR8 room's nice and toasty, which is probably the reason I fell asleep. So it's DH's fault. Our cat loves it, too.

Elizabeth, You're SO LOVELY to write thank you notes to interviewers! I've said it before, and I'm saying it again. It's a nice touch, I feel that people forget to do such things nowadays, but I think it's because we all get busy, don't "think" about it, and let things slides and before we know it, it's too late. I think what you are doing is a sign off integrity and good character. You set a good example, too. WTG, Girl!

Harmony, You're so productive. I'm sorry about your Dfriend's DH being overwhelmed. Is there a chance, ONLY IF YOU HAVE TIME, for you to help give him 3 - 4 hours "off", so he can get a break? I know it's a lot to ask and you ARE doing so much, already, too. I know it's appreciated. Keeping you and them and their family in my thoughts. And prayers.

I did 5 loads of laundry today. Trying to get it all hung up and put away.

I have been unpacking and sorting and tossing and purging stuff for almost a month. A week ago last Saturday Wayne went to Mike's and got the furniture that Mike was willing to give me. My mother's china cabinet was the main thing that I wanted. He sent along numerous boxes of "stuff", most of which I have passed along to a charitable organization.

This apartment seems so much larger even though it is also a 2 bedroom. The main difference is that the walls aren't covered in art, so it doesn't look as busy. Mike didn't pass along a single piece of the extensive art collection which I helped to purchase over the years. That's okay. Nothing to remind me of him.

The title of the book is The Bourne Ascendancy by Eric Van Lustbader. Of course the charactor came from my all time favorite author, Robert Ludlum who unfortunately died in 2001.

It is frighting how much the book mirror's what is happening in today's world. However the insight that Van Lustbader gives to his infamours terrorist, El Chadan, is what really held my attention. I am not a girlie girl reader, although two of my favorite books, Gone with the Wind, and Forever Amber...which was banned in the US in 1944, would lead you to think otherwise.

However I have to add, in my opinion, no one could write and weave a story like Ludlum. His writing style is one of the things I loved the most. His paragraphs were filled with complex and intricate sentences. His word choice, sentence structure, and vocabulary was extrodinary. His pages were filled with great dialogue and descriptions. And it took my brain a long time to absorb each page.

John Grisham was much like Ludlum with his first novel, but since then his writing changed. I think because his publishers wanted him to crank out other books. I believe the same thing has happened to several other lawyer/authors who now write.

I love a good story, but I also love the words that tell it. I think that is what makes the difference between a good writer and a great one. And it is also why I have this love/hate thing with my own writing. I would give any thing to get back what my strokes took away. I still write, but the frustration that comes with it while trying to put my words and ideas on paper somtimes leaves me in tears. Oh, I am a struggling writer for sure...but not for the same reason that others profess to.

If you blush easily, you might not want to read this however I will tell you Forever Amber is one of the greatist love stories of all times... just like Gone with the Wind.

Yuck, yuck, yuck, a nasty reminder that this is the time of year that mice are trying to come in. As I was getting in the SUV, I noticed something that I hoped was a large dried leaf. No such luck, it was a dead mouse. When I came home, I walked around my car on the other side of the garage and there was another dead mouse. Dh was in his garage messing with one of his motorcycles and I told him about the mice. He commented that at least they were dead. He didn't act like he was going to clean them up anytime soon, so armed with plastic bags and plastic gloves, I picked them up and they are now in the trash. I. hate. mice.

It has been breezy here for the last 4 days. I love fall and I hope we have an extended one this year.

Dh enjoyed his bike trip to Colorado to see the fall colors. He goes back to work tomorrow.

We are hoping to take the motorhome out the weekend of Oct. 10, 11 & 12. After that dh will get it winterized.
