TUESDAY TRIUMPH!

Back from ds's.

We got all our things that were at his apt. placed in 'our' room there. And I made up the bed so it is ready for a guest should he need it.

He's hanging onto the excess bedding (I just moved (hopefully) everything over there and decided I'd deal with it there) and will toss the rest. It is too musty smelling to donate and I don't feel like washing it all.

There is a ton of room left in our room but we still have a lot of things to move over - two or three bins of toys and the pram and possibly some stuff from the balcony. I'd like to store some chairs there for the winter or empty our storage room out more and store them here. I have no idea how snowy the balcony will get. There's a constant wind in winter so snow should evaporate quickly. On the other hand, 2.5' of snow on the balcony at the house was common and the railings there were open to the floor (unlike here which is like a big bucket, open only at the top.)

After ds's we went to the Y and I signed up for a year. Paid in full so I don't have to think about it. They say I can cancel and they'll just prorate the deal. Unfortunately, I was told I could cancel up to 4 months a year and just extend the membership. After paying, I learned I can cancel ONCE for up to 4 months. Quite often we are away for 3 one-month periods a year so for two of those times I'd be unable to use my membership but still have to pay. The lady said, "but you can use your membership at any Y" but for the life of me, I don't know where the Y is in Stockholm, or Copenhagen and there isn't one in Liverpool, NS, nor, obviously on the ship, so really, the membership would be wasted at that time.

On the plus side the Y's in Sydney and Hong Kong are well known in travel circles as a great place to stay and I might be able to get in more easily as a member.

Got back to the apartment, unloaded the car of things to take upstairs and got to the basement elevator area. Pressed the button. No light. Sigh... I walked up to the ground floor and all 4 aren't working. So I went back downstairs and told dh. He was talking with the assistant super who said it would be 5 minutes so we put a box of Christmas decorations in our storage locker while waiting and I pulled out the baby crib and put it in the car to store at ds's.

On the ride up, a fellow passenger was an original resident who has been here 48 years and she was commenting on how things are falling apart here now that the building is getting so old. Certainly, I currently have hot water running through some radiators and cold through others so setting the thermostats is hard. Tomorrow there will be no water at all for the daytime (one of the reasons I wanted to join a gym. I don't have to worry about where to shower on days like that - since this is our third day with disrupted water since moving in.)

Everyone's so triumphant here today! That's super!

So far I have:

- made our bed
- put dirty laundry in the utility room laundry basket
- washed 1 LOL, which is drying now
- dumped the waste baskets from all the rooms in the house
- set my dawn simulator for tomorrow a.m.
- ran scans on my laptop
- worked on my calendar
- emptied the DW with DH's help
- replied to 2 of Dsis's emails this morning. (She has a split shift on Tuesdays.)

To do:

- finish the LOL in the dryer, put it away
- finish my letter to my best friend
- work on writing today
- help sort the mail, when it comes
- get out a.m. clothes
- s2s later, when I've gotten all my work done
- give my kitty fresh water in 2 spots where she eats.
- feed kitty, if DH doesn't do it before me
- plan my dinner out
- walk 1/2-hour, do yoga/Pilates stretches
- rest a bit, at least once

The things, listed above, are things I *MUST* do, but there are little things I'll be doing on and off today, which aren't on the list. I didn't want an itemized list of 100 things taking up so much room.

The sun's beautiful, it's chilly out, but the EPA approved fireplace insert is wonderful. It's hooked up where you turn on the fan to the furnace, which blows wood heat into all the rooms in the house. It's nice, it's not super warm in other rooms, as it is in the great room, where the insert is, but it takes the chill off and we won't need to run the furnace with heat, using up power $. I like it like this, we've rarely used it in the past, but I suggested to DH, how I thought it'd be a good idea to start using it again.

Twins' Mom, that's sad that enrollment went down.

I need to take my larger bag because with my eye problems, I'm required to wear wrap-around eye glasses. When I go into buildings, I take them off, put them into their leather little tote bag, into my purse. If I don't take a larger purse, then I'm holding my wrap-around eyeglasses or have them up on my head, above my forehead. It makes me feel a bit dorky so I don't like to do that. People "look" at me when I do that. So, the purse with me is better.

Blessedw2, I hope your DD younger heals quickly, too. Thanks for letting us know.

Good luck on your garage sale, too. But what's an hoosier cabinet? Is it a cabinet having something to do with the Hoosiers of Indianna? Sports?

Nancy, That's good news @ Walmart, but I'm sorry to hear about your furnace not kicking on this a.m.!

MT, I'm glad you got to sleep all night in BED! It's a great milestone to attain after a surgery!

Kathryn, In the U. S. there used to be a show's theme song, which said something like "Moving-moving-moving- RAWHIDE!" And since you're moving, this tune keeps going through my head!

I made it out!!!! I worked just 15 minutes and cleared a path to the closet plus cleaned/sorted out a small tuppy tub. I then made the tub into a first aid kit. We had bandages and bandaids in several different places and now they all have a home. Living with my DH, I need to have a supply of large bandages on hand at all time. Mostly because his skin is thin and he is on blood thinners so needs pressure bandages to stop the bleeding. Glad to have all my supplies in one place.

At the present time, I am doing rough sorts of all the junk. Throwing out what I am sure I will never need again, Sorting into big categories: Medical (bills, EOB, Medicare), Financial (bank statements, investment statements), Church, Insurance (house, car, MH, etc.) Later I will file (or throw depending on date) in file cabinet. I am also dealing with craft stuff, electronics (old computers, old WIFI, cameras, Phones and all the cords) Right now things are just getting piled to sort thru after I find the floor and re-arrange the furniture.

I'm going to do a build in out of one of the closets and have my sewing machine and all things that go with that in one area. That is the dream for now. We will see how it works out.

Afternoon ya'll...

I'm taking a break...been working on my closet changing summer to winter stuff. Taking a while as I have had to try on many things, but that's ok with me.

I have a pile of sweaters I want to wash, but can't do that till early in the morning. They require being washed in cold water and that's the only time of the day I get any. I also need to buy a folding clothes rack because Sweetie confiscated mine to hang the car stuff he's been painting, BOOO But think I'll check cause maybe the rack just might be empty.

Waving to ya'll, gotta run cause my break is over and I gotta get going while my energy level is high. If I sit here too long, I might become glued to the chair

We leave to go out to the house in 1:20 so I need to get moving here and see what I can get done to make this place look better.

I'll run downstairs with a load of things to donate and check mail, first. Then maybe some dusting. I've been putting that off because this place doesn't need much.

Learned that the probate court did, indeed, receive the form and that all in on track for them to make a court order on Oct 7 giving me permission to sell the house. Emailed realtor with that info and asked if the closing company would need a copy of the court order received directly from the court...and asked whether we can set a closing date also. (Holding my breath that this happens.....)

I am going to go out and get dog food, I don't think it can wait for errand day tomorrow.

Good afternoon everyone! Today started off totally non-triumphant. I did not do my eating well yesterday (not enough food) and woke up with a migraine. I stayed in bed most of the morning, but realized that I would only get worse if I did not eat. So, one good lunch and migraine meds, got dressed at 1 pm, and I am now feeling better.

Of course, then it was time to hit the computer for the day's job search activities, and with one email, the day turned triumphant! One of last week's interviewers emailed me saying:

I’ve been thinking about different options for how your skill set may fit in with our team

! He has an idea he wants to discuss with me to

see if it’s something that interests you or not

. It interests me! I don't know what it is, but it interests me! It couldn't possibly be worse than my current situation. I hope it's software testing: get paid to break things and every day is a treasure hunt for bugs! Needless to say, I called him back, but was only able to leave a message. Of course, I still plan on getting another resume out today, nothing is guaranteed.

Tonight is Girls' Night Out, so I must leave the house to pick up DD12 at 4:00. I am finished doing the painting for her Halloween costume. Now, I need to sew the skirt (and iron box pleats!) and put the sleeves and their beading on the bodice. Also, I need to make a repair to the bodice already!

One not so good thing: as I was laying in bed, a half grown cat came to my window. I am hoping he (she?) is not a stray, but if he is, he came to the right place. I have seen him once before, several months ago, so he may belong to a neighbor.

My mom was telling me about her newest purse. It's so small it does not even hold KEYS!!! She said she uses it when dad is driving and she only needs her wallet. I hope she does not send me one. It has been a long time since the X drove around with me.
