r. rose. my family has had a few generations of police officers in the inner city and saw so much of what you are talking about. So sad all the way around. Unfortunately there isn't an easy answer and many times kids that try to stay out of the gangs are hurt. kids killing kids - makes no sense at all.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Kathryn the deal went through because they sold their house.

I've come to a bump in the road with my earlier energy. I made a hot tea that was too hot and burnt my tongue. Owie!

Hello. RRose, that is such a sad story. And your statistics from the city where you worked are appalling. It's unbelievable in this day and age that we don't do better as a society.

Well I am stalled. I have been a slug, having no time limits on getting something done. I guess I should go do something... start moving around here... it's a bad habit of mine that I work so much better if I have a deadline because that is ultimately harder to do. Well, I'll go do something..

Ramblin', I definitely had that mixed up - sorry. A sadder thing than I understood and I know you have had this on your heart. If only under other circumstances folks could be reaching out to you - perhaps to talk about something cheerful about the young man. But this is so often the way it is. Only after we lose someone do we realize how much we do want to reminisce with others about him or her.

Ds sang bass in a "men's" small singing group in high school chorus. They became such favorites to teachers, students and parents alike, who had delight at how they harmonized like angels. People would use that word, "angels". I've said to him why not get back together and sing again at class reunions, etc. But he says one of the boys is dead now because of violence and another in jail because of some violent crime and not expecting parole. He says, "That was a long time ago, Mama." :(

A chair was delivered for HRH. It's sitting in its box in the LR. Too heavy for me.

Hope it's not as terribly windy for you across the 'pond', Kathryn, as it is here for us! I'd hate to be moving anything today. Quite sunny but horribly windy and the temp will start falling shortly.

Just took a little snooze -tried to read and I knew I'd doze off.

Oh my, this RV is rocking today! I was going to try to get some things out of the storage unit today, but think I'll wait until next week. Dh will have the truck come Tuesday anyway and we can put the things I wanted to get right into that. Can also get rid of the row that's accumulating behind alongside the back of the kitchen counter. Just hoping it doesn't freeze too much before dh leaves in 4 weeks or so.

Next up is to clean out the magazine basket on the bottom of the coffee table. Should be able to toss a few things. Have 4 gliders to go on the bottom on the legs so it'll be easier for dh to move come time to put in the slides on the RV. (I'll need help getting those on -or is it that dh will need help? :? )

No Conga, no flying, no nuttin' for me, except to rest, read and crochet. I woke up at 3:38 a.m., my tummy acted like it was going to get sick, so I got up, I took gen. Zantac, ate breakfast, and later went to sleep about 1 more hour. I did flesh out a good short story from beginning to end by hand for 12 pages, which is a good length, after it's logged.

I've decided to change titles on the other 4 January stories, just do 1 more after this current one (which I'll finish next week) and it'll bring Jan. submissions to 4. After that, I'll try to submit 2 - 4 Feb. stories by Nov. 12, too.

Trying to work ahead, as I have a colonoscopy upcoming, but ins. co. takes quite awhile to "authorize", so may not happen until Nov. or Dec. Hoping it's not near Thanksgiving OR Christmas, as the two don't "mix" well, IMHO, food wise. Have a book to read on today and over the weekend, which will be relaxing. Next week I'll hop to the story-writing again. Needing a current mini-break. :!:

My best friend said she's shipping Cynthia Ewer's latest organizing book, seen at her site at

My dear friend said it's just an "I love you, just because..." book. I'd expressed an interest in it, while we were emailing back and forth. Every so often, we bless each other with books, that we can really use at the special times in our lives. I'm thoroughly pleased and pleasantly surprised.

This was just a quick C. I. I'm not "with-it" to CUOP decently and comment on each and everyone's posts, as I should be doing. My brain's just not functioning properly, I need another nap and I'm going to go eat a Georgia Peach Muffin now. I've heard Georgia Peaches were delicious, especially from one of you Southern gals, here at the Village. :P

Have an amazing weekend, Everyone. It's sunny here, will be in the 70's, and is so uplifting, as DH watches all the baseball game playoffs today.

Good Afternoon, All.

We've had a busy morning as I had a kidney ultrasound this morning and then we stopped for breakfast. I've been being lazy since as my BS went low (nothing to eat since midnight) and that always makes me yucky. Getting better now except now just plain afternoon lazy.

I am behind on today's list so I'd better get moving.

Hello, villagers ~
What a cold, gloomy, blustery day ... and I hate to say it, but there is a possibility of snow showers tonight.
DH cleaned the furnace filter yesterday. We don't like to turn it on this early, but probably will have to do it tonight or tomorrow.
I've been wearing a sweater all day, AND I had to put on a coat to go to the post office. :P

CI:
Desk day here
* paid a bunch of bills
* caught up the bookkeeping & filing for the library group
* lots of Emails
* trying to finish month-end reports for the sewing group but the bank statement didn't come, so must look online
* unending stupid drama in the sewing group -- enough said
Went to the post office
October goals met for the day 1+1 (declutter & walk) :)

No time to nap with the calico cat.

Tonight I want to watch a couple shows recorded earlier in the week.

Actually I went to the post office in shirt sleeves, Norma, and shortly after I came back dh needed to go to town for some bolts. At that point I put on a light jacket -now the heat is on. Wind has been horrendous. Had to turn around on 1 road as there was a tree down and wires. When dh & I went the electric company had just arrived -to join the fire fighters, etc who were already there. But nothing like they're having from TX to IL. Prayers for everyone to stay safe.

Dh is going to pull down all the shades shortly. Trying to keep as much heat in as we can.

Knew ds-A & family were leaving on a 10-day cruise on this coming Wednesday. I barely remembered when dd told me today that ddil's dmom is going with them to babysit dgs2. I was wondering about dgs15's race if it gets postponed tomorrow -figuring he'd be away. Not so. He and dsgd15 will be staying home -can't afford that much time away from school at this point. He will be spending nights with his Mom (she will have to drop him off at DS's to get the school bus) and dsgd will be staying with her best friend. If I remember correctly the last time they went on this cruise out of NJ dsgd's best friend accompanied them. Have to manage to get to see them Sunday or perhaps Monday evening while dh is at fire dept. meeting. Be the last chance I have to see dgs2 till next May (unless they come to FL this winter).

Dh thought he heard thunder a few minutes ago -won't surprise me.

Quick post here....just wanted to say hello. Weather was nice here today, not like in some states. Hopefully everyone is keeping safe! I did see yesterday there were two earthquakes in KS also.

Dee, that's a lot for one tire; good thing your salesman intervened.

RRose, that is such a sad story about your student. Do you ever wonder how different things might have been if his father had not been abusive and he'd been brought up with a different family life?

((MT)).

Thank you for those kind words, FFriend. My dkids and and dgkids say the same thing! They are what keep me young! :)

Dh and I were supposed to meed dfam#1 at Pier 60 tomorrow for the Make A Difference Fishing tournament for special needs children. Dh decided he'd better not go as there's not much on the beach or pier in the way of bathrooms. Every so often he has tummy troubles as a side effect of one of his meds. This is one of those times! Not only that but we may have t-storms in the area. Don't want to be out on the beach in that! I was going to do all my weekly cards today, but decided I could split them between today and tomorrow. Ds#2 and fam should be here on Sun. He called today to see how we were doing.

Have a good evening.....
