SIMPLE SATURDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

Just keep it simple today -enjoy the moments.

I was awake from 12-1, then again at 3 and that was it. I'm up and have had breakfast & meds. Sipping coffee right now and then I'll get just a little busy and do something. I'm not showering/dressing for about 3 hours. Decided I didn't want to dress twice within a couple of hours. Our pastor and friend's wedding is at 1:30 so have to leave here about 12:15. Have to pack warm clothes in the car for dh to change before he leaves for dgs15's race. (That's assuming it takes place today -it rained for a couple of hours this morning and it's supposed to rain there 3-4p.m.) Also supposed to be cold. I'm coming back here with other friends. The husband 'may' go to the race with dh. He may decide it'll be too cold/wet. Have to remind ds-A to text us on the off chance that the race is cancelled for today.

I'm getting so close to being ready to leave. I keep pecking away at minor things and probably will be the most set I've ever been.

Would like to go get the mail this morning but may skip it -that would mean getting dressed I guess. Today is all about timing.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Good morning, villagers ~
For some good fashion news about current trends, check out today's post at The Vivienne Files.
http://www.theviviennefiles.com/2014/10 ... -2014.html

These are clothes and accessories she saw normal people wearing on the streets of Paris within the last few weeks. I am in favor of almost all of these trends, not that I'm a fashion plate or that I even follow trends/fads. Still, the best news to me is (1) hosiery is back! and (2) in the paragraph about simple dresses, "Black flats and low pumps everywhere." Since I have never stopped wearing hosiery and flats/low heels with skirts, I'm happy to know I'll no longer be a candidate for What Not to Wear -- at least for legs and feet! 8-)

Bookie: thanks for that link!

I up after a very rough night. Was in bed before 11 but couldn't sleep. My mp3 ran out of battery power so I was lying there for about 20 minutes, upset because I couldn't sleep. An hour after lights out I noticed dh tossing so asked if he was all right and had him take an Advil. I plugged in my mp3 to charge, found my tablet and put it on radio and tried to sleep.

Dh was asleep but thrashing around so I gave up after 30 minutes and moved to the couch. Fell asleep quickly then (it is very comfortable.)

Dh woke up at 6 and I (and my duvet and pillow) were missing so he came and found me and I moved back to bed to cuddle and listen to the news but didn't fall back asleep. So my fitbit is reporting a rough night with only 4.5 hours of sleep. Dh feels bad that he chased me out of bed but it is only temporary; when he has very physical days his muscles do that in his sleep. Usually the Advil fixes the problem but last night it didn't.

I did make it to the pool for 8:15 and spent 30 minutes not drowning. I'm s2s for the day (I take the time to shower fully and had packed my clothes for today) but still have to straighten my hair which is rather wild.

I've just finished breakfast so will toss on another load of laundry (I started a load when I came in the door) and then head out to empty the car.

Morning ya'll

Thanks for the link bookie... According to the site I'm good to go including the leather jacket. Didn't know I had such style

Need to shower and do a few things around here. Had another headache yesterday but so far my handover isn't bad today.

Waving to ya'll... Will don in my stylish Crimson shirt today while watching the game. However in a few weeks will switch to my big orange one when Crimson meets up with it to play football. My son will hate that, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do

I liked the link, and along with the thumbs up BookSaver gives to a return to appropriate hosiery and flats, I would give a further thumbs up to denim jackets, which will go with so much. These are all good common sense classics. I liked the addition of greens to blacks. Will remember to mention that to dd. However, doesn't there eventually come a time when Paris no longer represents cutting edge more than other places/vibes?

The author says that she saw so many black leather jackets she now has no desire for one. If "everyone" will be wearing this or that in response to Paris, when does Paris lose its cachet? I think by 2014, fashion's cutting edge is lasting for just a few minutes. In my closet are two denim jackets which I've worn with almost everything for years, and there are no heels and no one sees my legs without hosiery except at a pool. So I may be on the cutting edge for this 15 minutes.

Nevertheless, the article points out to me that I need a pair of black jeans. And I need to pull my dear aunt's green scarf out of the bottom of a drawer, because it looks just like the one in the photo.

I'm jealous this a.m. because dd got to go with a couple friends to the Ren Faire. One's father has some local responsibility that touched on the Faire this year and he got 3 free tickets to have picked up at the gate, so that was a lovely gift to teens with no money, lol. The older girl will be spending the night here, so dd had to have her room looking great before she left this a.m. Two birds.

HRH took me out for breakfast - well, just drive-through. We stopped back by at the convenience store that has recently reopened, and again, for the third time we know of since reopening, there is distinct smokiness in the air inside. HRH finally commented, since he does know a thing or two about commercial kitchens. (They prepare simple fare like fried chicken.) The party line employees are spouting is that it's because equipment in the kitchen is old - basically deflecting blame to previous owners. They didn't like that HRH told them the previous owners never had smoke at all, so venting must have changed during the renovation for this to be happening. He is trying to help, but I fear they don't see that and they pretty much cut him off when he tries to explain his credentials. Oh well. He says they won't pass inspection next time since they will be required to turn on all equipment and cook in front of inspectors, who will shut the kitchen down when smoke enters customer space.

I'm home from services for awhile. Have the proverbial pot not yet boiling to cook up the noodles to make kugel for the break the fast at temple later. Dd has (finally) gone to get the emissions testing done on her car so we can renew the license; she's been driving with the tag expired since end of August. Dh stayed at temple - there is children's service, then discussion group at 1 p.m., afternoon service at two, memorial or yiskor service at 4 and concluding service at 5, followed by break the fast. A long day.

I'll nap once I get the kugel into the oven.

Fast is going well.

Back from running my errands. They went very smoothly although I resisted the temptation to add extras as I drove by stores that held goods I need. I also have to deal with the mess in this apartment so didn't want to distract or tire myself.

Once back at the apartment, I spent 20 minutes cleaning out the car and turning back into a car (we pretend it is a pickup and put down the seats and liner and pile junk in it.) The liner is shook out, folded up and stored and I brushed down and dusted the whole car. I didn't put our regular bins back into the car because we will be using the back for luggage on Tuesday as we show our friends around the city.

Dh is finding homes for all his tools now (we kept a set at the house for disassembling things.) I'm just finishing up a frozen dinner for my lunch. I've been relying on these lately and have almost run out. I think I have 1 left. Today there was nothing in the house - no salad, no eggs, no leftovers. So it was this or a can of soup (or a grilled cheese and bacon but I was avoiding that option.)
