Surprise yourself!

Do something you thought you couldn't, or something outside your comfort zone, or something just a little bit zany!

It is the Saturday of a long weekend so, even if you mess up today, you will still get two days 'off' (as if homemakers ever get a day off!)

I still have a whole sermon and service to write.

I had a slightly better sleep last night, 70%. Still haven't cut back on sugar enough to see if that's what's wrecked my great sleep numbers from before the move.

I was exhausted last night but it took a while to fall asleep because my muscles were tense. That water workout really worked me hard. I was impressed (and will keep doing it until I can do it without feeling like I've been through a wringer!)

I've spent a lot of the time this morning online, getting a sense of the issues and personalities running in the local elections. Election day is the 27th but there was an advance polling station here on Thursday and neither dh nor I had a good enough grasp of the candidates and issues to vote in anything but the mayor's race (and that's because we've know one of the candidates for years and I've served on boards with him - but we also know he won't be elected.) I pay attention to local elections because, a generation ago, I ran for local council so I understand the work that goes into running for local office.

I'm having my tea and chocolate. Should probably get dressed before starting writing and move my computer to somewhere with better ergonomics for writing. My wrists are totally out of place here at the dining table.

Good morning, Kathryn and all others who wander through the village today.

I did surprise myself already -twice! I slept well until about 2am and came out in the chair for a while. Fell sound asleep (evidently). Dh's fire pager awoke me & I got up, turned it off, took a bathroom break and decided to go into bed for a little while. "Surprise #1" -bedroom door was part way open (we usually close it for heat reasons this time of year). Looked back & realized the sliding door curtain was open & then realized dh wasn't in bed -I wondered why at 6:30 he was still in it! I never heard him one little bit -that is surprising. Went back to bed and slept and dreamed (surprise #2) until 9:04A.M. I never sleep that late. Guess I needed it.

I'm now s2slippers. Now it's time to get my meds, coffee and breakfast -then maybe I can do my PODA.

Went to an open house last evening for a park model RV -same brand as ours. Had a good time but ate some hordeurves too late and my blood sugar was up to 133 this morning. Some of that is because I ate so late and sleeping so late. Now I'm looking at our house with 'new' eyes. Of course there was nothing out in this new RV and ours is lived in every day -they're still just mostly doing weekends and it's NEW. Some aspects of the new one I like better than ours, but for the most part I'm still happy. Wouldn't matter -we're in this one for the long haul no doubt. This is our home!

Think I'll go get the mail later this morning -keep hoping our info from health insurance will come so I can start doing some research and make decisions. Understand our insurance plan is going away (M V P medicare advantage) and our rates on a new policy will be 45% higher. Dneighbor said yesterday, "well you have until December 7th to decide." Wrong -dh's company gives them a 2-week window and sadly part of that window will probably be eaten up with the time it takes for it to be forwarded to me in FL. Grrr......

Quiet morning here at my house - dh got in on time last night and I picked him up. Always afraid he will be delayed and get home super late when I am picking him up.

He's gone to Torah study and I will head out soon with dMacs for his PT. I don't know what the rest of the day holds - I am going to suggest a movie - I know dh will want to get out and do something today!

Dh stopped by & opened all the shades for me. Let there be light! Can hardly bear the darkness when they're all down. I manage to open the one by this table about 6" & 2 corner ones a little. My arm won't allow more than that. Can't do any more one-handed either. But I survive -will probably soon think it's too warm.

Dh invited 2 more for Monday so we opened up the table to make sure we can seat everyone. We can (phew!)

My minister friend confirmed he'll be there with his dog (I invited her so he wouldn't have to rush home or feel guilty.)

Gotta run, still not dressed.

Dee, you need a gizmo to help open shades without needing much "reach" on your part. I was thinking of a funny little back-scratcher I've seen that's basically a long handle but with a curved "fork" shape on the end. Something like that might work, if pull rings were attached to the shades.

A funny morning. HRH made a big breakfast as he'd planned, once thinking we might have a big crew to feed, but only his friend stopped by to share before leaving for the airport.

Wish I knew whether dstepson and family will be coming over, but much depends on the weather for him, and we have the surprise of sunshine. So he will not be freed up for indoor visits the way he thought, unable to get to things outside.

Ds was definitely going to come by, but I don't know when. So the day feels disjointed.

Surprized my self driving home did not stratch the 5 speed manual transmition gears once! On the yeast drive h. Did that seversl times! Working on my journaling, qt - devo reading is next.

I was surprised by the perfect bs number I woke up to today #97. Took meds a bit later and fish for dinner helped.

Dson wants to borrow the trailer to go to the dump. Also to look at the jeep.

Of course. Went to hardware store for dh to get 5-minute epoxy -got the wrong type. And he TOLD me -1 for plastic!

He's absolutely running today. Asked me to get his warm clothes together so he can quick change to go to dgs15's modified race when he's finished (he WILL be running!) Told him tomorrow that we WILL get things put in the car so I can make sense of this RV. Doesn't look bad, but I can't stand things sitting around like this. Normally I'd be stashing -but I want them all ready to put in the car. Oh my! I only have 4 1/2 days left before I leave. How did that happen so fast?

Dfriend brought us chicken parm the other night -so far I've had 3 servings from it and dh none. He'll have what's left.

Ok, back to town to hopefully fetch the correct epoxy.

I happen to have one of these right by the door, hanging in a corner, Harriet. However these are pleated shades with just a flat bottom, but I sure will give it a try. They have to be pushed up, not like a regular shade unfortunately. The RV we went in last night had wooden, brown venetian blinds. I could manage those better (up and down) so perhaps if we ever have to replace these, that might be a good alternative -for me at least.

How sweet of you to think to include dminister friend's dog, Kathryn. How many does that make now -including the dog for leftovers?
