I've finished Christmas afghan #2, am continuing on with afghan #3, which is the last one, before going onto other gifts.

DH is watching the Seattle Seahawks v. s. the Dallas Cowboys. I watch it, too, when I'm in the great room, crocheting or writing on letters.

The sky keeps getting darker, rain's in the forecast for today, and it's nice and warm indoors. Our Kitty cat loves the warm fire, as she lazes in front of it. Sometimes, she leaves her spot on the carpet in front of the hearth, to cuddle with DH who has a most welcoming lap on the sofa sectional.

Long day. Dh and I are exhausted. But it was successful too.

Dd was very grateful for the ride home since she threw up in the car (but was completely prepared for it which is more than I can say - when I had small kids I used to always have plastic bags for just in case, but somewhere along the line I stopped doing that probably because the Priuses haven't had drawers under the passenger seat.) Dd always carries milk bags in her back pack (which is 1/3 the size of her) so when she wants to buy meat she has a bag to put the meat in before putting it in her cloth bag. Her phobia about germs paid off since those bags are sturdy. We were on the highway at the time so couldn't do anything to help her.

I have milk bags too so will add those to my car.

We got to church in time for coffee hour and then headed over to the house. The new family moved in and are quite settled considering it has been just under 3 days! They kept saying how weird it must be for us but truly it wasn't. It was wonderful to see the house with a family in it once more. It was more upsetting to see it empty and listen to it echo.

They replaced my fridge with a lovely stainless and black one (to match the stove and dishwasher) and turned our sitting room into a dining room and the old office will be a guest bedroom. The room we used as a dining room will be their living room and looks great with their furniture. In fact, all the place looked wonderful. Even the front porch looked fabulous with their patio furniture on it and they bought two new welcome mats.

I was very glad we went because I felt so much better after seeing them so settled so quickly.

After that was a quick lunch and my service at the retirement home. From there we went shopping and am now are recovering. I'm exhausted and just realized I forgot to put the groceries away. So *poof*!

Kathryn and family have had such an eventful day!

Dd is at youth group right now. Sitting and chilling out for the first time since 6-something.

My time in preparing full 7-verse words copy of the hymn was VERY well spent. No one had realized that projection had the full 7, but musical copy had 5 (so singers and musicians would not know what congregation was singing). I knew that might be a problem, along with the difficulty of the words (tune familiar), so I worked with it until I got the largest print possible of all onto one page. Back at church, that saved the day. I don't think any of the musicians and singers ever really "got" that it was a lot of planning, but that's okay. Bass was still miffed he didn't have music on the other verses He expects magic.

Got some questions answered about Angel Tree ministry - lots to do.

Ds and my green-eyed boy came here after church and we enjoyed "Turbo" movie, which was a request.

Kathryn, I looked at tomorrow's date on the calendar, which said it was Columbus Day Observed for the U. S. A. AND Thanksgiving Day in Canada. I wondered how you celebrate Thanksgiving Day up there, if you fix a large turkey dinner, like they do here on Thanksgiving in November or what. Do you attend services at church tomorrow or cook a special dinner or go out to eat at a nice restaurant? I thought it sounds interesting what Canadians do compared to Americans.

The Seahawks and Cowboys game is tied. I hope we win, but the Seahawks have made a few mistakes today, so it's anybody's guess.

It's still grey here in the skies, no rain so far today, yet.

I took a 30 - 40 minute snooze in my chair. Now I'm trying to roll up a ball of yarn, from leftovers on 1 skein, to use as trim (raspberry) on pink butterfly bodies edged in raspberry on their pink wings. It's for DGD's afghan, she's 21 months old. I'll make her a matching dolly blanket for her little dolly, too, to match her afghan.

It's been a very quiet day here today. Dh and I have relaxed and watched TV, and for supper we had grilled chicken (George Foreman grill), roasted butternut squash and a salad with apples, walnuts and goat cheese. Yum!

I walked the dogs in a very light rain while dh did the kitchen clean up.

Should do some planning for tomorrow.

Glad that Kathryn saw her house filled up with family. I think I've mentioned that our dneighbor at the old house is at odds with the people who bought our house - very sad. Her very dkitty was found dead with their dog in attendance. Apparently they don't think their dog did the deed, only stumbled upon it, but poor dneighbor is sure that their dog was the perpetrator. The poor kitty was one of the last links to her dh (other than two grown sons) to her dh who had an abdominal aneurysm and died several years ago when we were still next door.

Glad Harriet got to see her green-eyed boy!

Lucylee, You must feel like you're walking on eggshells these days. I'd stop taking stock in her Facebook posts and just consider anything that they tell you directly. Do you think there's a little passive-aggressive behavior happening?

Canadian Thanksgiving is a bit different from US, mostly because the focus is on Thanksgiving and harvest and not a kick-off for Christmas. We still have Halloween and Remembrance Day before we start thinking about Christmas.

It really depends on the family but turkey is definitely a theme here. I note that CM's family are having a turkey dinner tonight and are joining me with mine tomorrow. I have ham for dsil so there will be options for them.

We get a three day weekend and it seems split as to whether to have the big dinner on Sunday or Monday. Sunday is good because you get a day to sleep in tomorrow and recover from over indulging. On the other hand, everything is shut tomorrow so for people working retail, that's their day to join family. And ministers who are exhausted after working services.

My menu will be ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, cornbread (probably), crescent rolls, veggies of some sort and pie. Before hand there will be veggies and dip to munch on.

I'm planning to make soft chocolate chip cookies tonight as well. Must get started on that because dh and I have an early bedtime.

There are dinners for those less fortunate and my sister's church puts on a dinner for anyone who doesn't have family to celebrate with so she's going to that. I invited my former minister because he's on his own and my current minister and his husband (but they declined.)

Dh made himself his fettuccine so I just had a lasagna. The apartment smells great (bacon and garlic.) I'm slowly working on the table, putting in place the basis for the centerpiece (which will include leaves brought by others.) Two of my sunflower stalks from Thursday have given way so I've cut them down and put them in a bowl of water. I'll use them, with leaves and acorns around them, and lots of candles as decorations on the table.

Nancy, WTG on winterizing your chicken coups. It can get so cold and frigid in the winters.

I'd better go write out my list for tomorrow. I'm kinda cranky since the Seahawks lost. But DH keeps saying "It's just a GAME! It's only their 2nd loss at home in THREE YEARS!" Oh, well. I'm just tired, the house is hot now that the fire's been going all day, I'm feeling sleepy because of the warm house, and have been "trying" to untangle yarn, with very little success. All I need is ONE ball, to make trim on pink butterfly wings and butterfly bodies. I thought by working from a ball would be better than a jumbled up skein. DH is really great at untangling yarns, I do fair, but today I cannot seem to do it as well as I usually do. Also, it usually relaxes me to de-tangle yarn, but not today. I wonder why? I only wrote 1 pen pal letter, too, I owe 2 more, I'm out of new news, so will wait until another day, when I've got more to say. Maybe I'll wait until I'm finished with DGD's afghan so I can report: "I got 2 afghans done for Christmas!"

It's supposed to rain again tomorrow, the nice thing is how the baseball play-offs are on now, but after The World Series, it'll be so different without baseball games! I really DO miss them. My writing is so much BETTER during the baseball season, as opposed to football season, for some odd reason. So I'm getting "INTO" football now, which I enjoy doing, but today I'm a bit disappointed we didn't win. I heard a host for a show say he thought the Cowboys would win, too. I was stunned at the time, but now I'm thinking how right he was. Oh, well. It's just a game, right? DH says they only have 10 more to go before the play-offs. It would be so wonderful to go to the Super Bowl again, too. I think if we ARE in the Super Bowl this year, I'll plan on some "special" foods, to commemorate it with. We NEVER do, so it'd be kinda special if we did.

But, first things first, Christmas crochet..... It makes me excited to see the little ones at Christmas this year. Little grandkids are so adorable at 21 months, age 3.5 and 5.5.

Have a great evening, Everyone. I guess for tomorrow, I'll put up my Monday Mojo card. I could use some for getting more holiday crochet done and story outlines, too. It's supposed to be wet again, so we might have a fire again, if it's cool enough in the morning. I'll need to walk, too.

Oh, Twins' Mom, what a bad start for the two neighbors. That's a shame.

FFriend, he definitely inherited my son's dark brown hair, though not his blue eyes. In fact, I was just noticing today how much like his Daddy's his hair seems. (He has a new haircut.)

I have high hopes for the new week. I've had a little less attention to healthy habits than I wanted, enforced because of HRH's friend being here so much while I was also racing around expecting dd's family. So it will be good to get back to more attention there. Laundry is certainly lined up.

The pizza had turkey sausage, and sausage cheese dogs & olives on it too, definitely a hit! Yum!

I had to rip out 3 rows of crochet while watching the game cannot count stitches and watch play at the same time. This project has grown from a scarf shawl to a baby blanket size now! learning the ripple is a journey crochet one is going better than the knit one! One is yellow the other troq blue.

I love little boys. I have 7 DGS + 1 DGD. That's it for our Dfamily, too, now, we've been told by Dson/Ddil and DD.

Ate healthy all day, but after dinner, got hit with terrible nausea. Don't know why. Am lightening up my tomorrow schedule because of this, in case tomorrow's not a "feeling-good" day. I've not been in contact with anyone sick, so don't know why, with a healthy dinner and healthy-eating day, I feel like this. Oh, well. At least tomorrow's a holiday, we have no commitments, other than DH goes into the Dr. office for his drug study check, first thing in the a.m. I need to phone in 2 prescriptions for pick-up on Tuesday. I'll lay low tomorrow, if need be. I'm so thankful we're empty nesters now. When we had kids at home, it was hard to be actively taking care of them, our busy schedules and be ill at the same time.

OOPS! I just remembered. I have 1 LOL, dark clothes, to dry! I wanted to get them done early in the evening, too, and put away. I did get my a .m. "To-Do" list done, so that's good, fixed meds for the week, but ran out of 1, so need a refill, and will probably take it easier this evening. It's a good time to get some reading done, feeling like I am. OH! DH unraveled the yarn for me, rolled it into a neat ball, about the size of a large rose-colored orange, and it's sitting and waiting for me. AND I'm no longer crabby because the Seahawks lost. I never realized or knew it was only their 2nd loss in 3 years- at home. That's a pretty good record.
