Oh, Kathryn, I sure hope you can feel better real soon and that a 'good' antibiotic can be given to you. Doesn't seem right to feel so bad to get feeling good.

DD and I went to school today for the Fall Fest. I worked in the library at the book faire, ringing up lots of sales. It was good for me. DD talked with the principal of the school where she'll have a job interview on Monday. He told her what glowing reports he's received on her and he'd told some of his 'boys' that he's interviewing her. Their reply was that he had to hire her and if he did they would be signing up for her classes. Then she found out that a gal she knows, who also recommended her, is in on the interview panel and that she's already told them that dd is her pick. There are 2 others that they need to interview later in the week. The problem with the men who have been teaching the class(es) is that they both come from the corporate world and neither have teaching credentials. Dd's trying to not get too excited and 'blue' at the same time about the possibility of leaving her present position. She's taught there for 9 years and it's way out of her realm to leave a job mid-term. That's just not her as she has strong commitment values. She won't know for sure for a week or so, so we'll see.

My db called me this morning. We're supposed to go see him and dsisil next weekend. Have to postpone it for a while. They've decided (after dniece's urging) to head to NY state next Thursday or Friday instead of the following week. Lot of his pals were unhappy that he wouldn't be there to go to the Adirondacks hunting with them. This will also get them up there for the birth for their first great grandchild as well. Know dear gniece will be happy about that. She's always been close to them and they pretty much raised her. Dniece and she lived with db/dsisil for a lot of years.

Think I'll grab a bit to eat. Leftovers from trivia night on Thursday.

Maybe you'll just have to pretend to be 'younger', Kathryn.

(((Kathryn))) -- As I have reported before, dmom has a terrible time with certain antibiotics, and right now she needs to be taking the one to get rid of the bacteria in her colon (H pylori? sp?) but she keeps putting off taking it b/c she thinks it caused her to have nosebleeds before.

* sigh * Add gastrointestinal troubles to my long list of complaints re: dmom in J&C. * shaking my head *

Cefzil is an antibiotic that makes me deathly ill. In the words of Mark Twain, the last time I took it "I thought I would throw up my immortal soul."

DGS and I have been to CVS, dmom's, duncle's, and back home. I also have one load of laundry hanging to dry, and one load in the washer. DGS also has allowed me to read at least 3 books all the way through -- Mr. Puffer Bill, Go Dog Go, and Green Eggs and Ham. We're having a pretty good day, even though dmom does have my nerves on edge.

OH -- and I brought home from dmom's: my kindergarten cap & gown, an elf costume from a Christmas parade in elementary school, the embroidered jacket I told y'all about the other day, AND -- ddad's letterman's jacket, an additional letter, and dmom's majorette uniform. DS will be so pleased to have those safe in our possession.

Dmom IS -- s l o w l y -- VERY slowly -- making progress on cleaning out her two extra bedrooms and making some room in closets... but still... that paper tiger is growing by leaps and bounds and multiplying all over the place. It really REALLY makes me crazy. How can she even think about having additional surgery(ies) until she gets her head above water (paper) and gets her life under control???

This is really stressful for me... dealing with her, and wondering how dh will behave when the time comes that she needs me more... * sigh *

Very little fun for me in football. None of the players ever get to do anything different.

This was fun. And gives me a talking point with football fans (which I never have).

Meds with food - my dmother always said a little white bread with the pill ...?
Don't know. My problem more recently is a difficult to swallow one for bedtime which I have given up and started taking earlier. Tough when I realize I've forgotten it. (Oooooh, bother!) That was the impetus for making out an ORDER of healthy habits checklist. That has helped, especially when things have gotten complicated, or timing switched.

Lucylee: I see method to your mom's tackling closets instead of paperwork piles. I bet if she focused on paperwork she wouldn't have been able to get rid of as much stuff!

I took the 8 p.m. pill with cornbread (I have no idea if cornbread has calcium, et al, in it but that's what I fancied.) No major discomfort so I may be onto something here. I did walk and type on the treadmill for a while and am feeling worse now that I'm sitting down so maybe exercise is helping as well. On the other hand, my knees and foot are sore.

Since I didn't get any vitamins today, I'm wondering if my bad knees are due to less glucosamine in my system. Of course, another side effect of the dang drug (and Lyme Disease) is achy joints.

I'm going to keep trying the drug until I phone the doctor on Monday (I have to get the report from the first lab, who knows, maybe it wasn't a tick and I can stop taking this altogether.)

Off to bed now. Am hoping for some time to do stretches before I climb under the covers.

Finished the second 'article' for the Christmas newsletter. Just one more to write (these are 1K words each so they take a while.)

This has been a soul satsfying Saturday for both of us. We are back from jeepen' that was great. Took a picnic lunch, got a tree fix and picked up a bushel of apples for the hens! H. Grilled steaks when he got home for dinner. I still need to do some exercise!

Coyotes: Oh my, yes, we are serenaded almost all night long. For some reason Dakota doesn't mind most of it - but the ones that sing around sunrise have her growling and barking out loud. They run in the ditches here too. We are surrounded by BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land so that is where they live. I think they went up in the hills during the summer as we didn't hear them at all. Since it has cooled off they are all around us. Seldom see rabbits any more where this summer we saw them in bunches. We never walk the dog in the dark as the snakes like to warm up on the blacktop - we find flat ones on the roads all the time.

Kathryn , It sure would be super for you, if that other lab gave you the welcome news, which means you could go off that antibiotic, too! Monday can't come soon enough! Good luck!

LucyLee , That drug sounded simply dreadful!

Erythromycin is the 1 that did me in several years ago. The bottle said take until gone. I did- for 10 days! On day #10, after I'd taken the LAST PILL, I called the nurse, with my terrible dizziness, upset stomach, couldn't-even-get-out-of-bed-for-fear-of-passing-out symptoms! She said, "Oh, you have a reaction, Dear. Stop taking it immediately." I told her "I took the last pill today." I was so embarrassed! What can I say, other than- I was in my 20's? Now I know better.

Dee , The Faire sounded fun! That's super news, if DD does take the job, too!

Bit storm's here, we're under alert since 6 p.m. tonight until 6 a.m. tomorrow/Sunday a.m. The lights keep blinking, the wind's howling, & it's mighty wild outdoors in our tall timber & on the patio, too. FF, the drug I mentioned is just a general antibiotic, I assume, and had been prescribed for me more than once before, I think. The next-to-the-last time I took it, I had an episode of throwing up, but I thought it was just because I was taking it on an almost empty stomach, and had just started eating bar-b-que pork about the time the pill hit my stomach.
The LAST time I took it... ooohhh... I took it at school, and ate pizza in the lunchroom, and then about 2 hours later, we were on the road to college town. I kid you not, I think we stopped at just about every exit on the northern 2/3 of I-65 in our state. And at every stop, I'd get a bag to use for a just-in-case barf bag... Oh my... it was HORRIBLE. * AND... to top it off, we were delivering ds's new truck to him that day. It was right after he had totaled his (through no fault of his own, someone plowed into him from behind). * AND... on top of all THAT... for a very rare occasion, we were meeting friends at ds's condo for... yep... pizza. BUT. By the time we got there, I was pretty much cleared out of all the yucky stuff and I bounced back quite well, LOL.

I do hope you get better news soon from your sick girls, FF... (ddil and dgd).

Boy. This house. DGS has had quite a time. We've been watching the ballgame, and we eeked out a win, 42-35... but the last pass was anyone's ball, and it certainly could have beaten us. Well, could have tied the game, and if they'd gone for two on the extra point/conversion, (which their coach said he was planning to do) -- we would have lost.
We've read books AGAIN... (I NEVER thought I'd actually get tired of READING to a child! * But it's a nice thing to be able to complain about, LOL!)
I've finished ALL the laundry.
He has dragged out just about every toy in the house.
We ate half a pizza.
And dh, ds, ddil will be home in about 3 hours, I'd guess.

Wish I could get dmom off my mind. I know I am just borrowing trouble, and I just have to take all this one day at a time... but it is just NEVER ENDING and so many things will probably require me to be staying overnight, at least occasionally, with her. * sigh * Of course, it is also in some ways it seems, anyway, NEVER STARTING... and she will just have to decide what she thinks is most important and what she has to take care of first. It is so nerve-wracking to me, to think that now that ddad is gone, I am her first and almost ONLY go-to-person.
Dbro will definitely be here when/if the situation becomes serious... but until that point, I'm it.
Daunt1 would be a huge help to me, and would do anything she possibly could -- I could call her at any time. BUT... she is the one who has 8 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and at least some of them are CONSTANTLY with her.
Daunt2 certainly has her hands full with duncle.

Anyway... glad you can see positive aspects to dmom's misguided (IMHO, ) efforts at decluttering and organizing, Kathryn.
She said today that she could do the paperwork while watching tv, but she felt she had to strike while the iron was hot, in some ways (energy-wise, I guess) with the closets.
