WEDNESDAY WANNA'S

Post by DeeClutter »

What is that one little thing that you've been thinking "I wanna do?" For me, it will be I 'wanna' go find a top or 2 to wear on the cruise (and after) and to get dh a new pair of dress jeans. He's wearing one down, but I really should have a second pair here for him.

I'm up early (for me) this morning. I slept fairly well but have been awake since 5:40am. I was up at least 5 times during the night though to make a bathroom trip. Had to be the tea I had later in the day. But I usually fell right back to sleep. Thank goodness -I hate those nights when I can't get back to sleep for hours!

Elizabeth! You have a JOB! WTG!!

And yes it was a 'Ta-dah" for you that ds passed, Kathryn -you raised him -that's a BIG, no wait -HUGE "ta-dah". So yes, you can take some credit.

I seem to finally be inching down in the weight. Hope I can keep it up.

Talked to dh last night -he wanted to know if there were any more dryer sheets. Asked him if he'd used the ones in the 'mouse' bag. He had, but I knew right off where the new box was -he looked up and wallah! There was a new one. Said he'd put the elastic plastic sheet on the bed, had one living room slide & the kitchen slide in -which meant he had 2 left. Somehow he managed to do that on his own. Not usually a big deal, but all our slides have a solid awning over them, which first has to be unbolted and then somebody to hold them up while someone else is inside pushing the button for the slide. So not sure how he managed to do that. His plan was to go to DS-A's last night.

Dh has an appointment this morning for an ultra sound at the cardiologist's. Not sure why he decided this had to be done (he saw the Dr on Monday). And since he seems to be having an ongoing problem with fluid (and this may well be the reason for the ultra sound), they asked him to try taking 1 1/2 tablets of his Lasix each day for a couple of weeks (after he gets down here). This is hoped to take the place of him taking an additional, stronger, fluid pill every 3-5 days. If that seems to work, they'll send in a new prescription for a stronger Lasix (he takes 40mg/day right now).

I'm s2slippers. Time to get my shoes and apron on.

Proud of dd16, Harriet. Always have known she has great 'marketability'! Congratulate her for dh and me.

I wanna get a lot done but first I have to eat my breakfast. My tummy isn't awake yet so it is slowly me down. I'm simply not hungry. But once I stop, I'll have to wait 4 hours before I can eat again so I want to eat more than 2 pieces of toast. The berries simply aren't a pleasure to me this morning. They seem too much.

I'm not sure if it is just me but the Messages function of the boards don't seem to be working right. I had a message this morning but only noted that unread message count on my banner had changed. I'm supposed to get a pop-up notification plus an email and didn't get either (looked in spam filters for the email.)

So a reminder: Please keep an eye on the number of "new message" spot at the top of the page. When someone sends a PM, it sits in their outbox until you click on it, or go to Private Messages. At that point, it moves from their outbox to their sentbox. No guarantee the message has been read, but the sender knows the recipient has signed into the Village and received the message.

Popping in. I have a more open day - er, morning - today. Happy for Elizabeth's new job! It sounds like congratulations are in order too for Harriet's dd16 and Kathryn's ds! Ds had his first "corporate" internship the summer after his Jr. year in high school. The work ended up being a bit boring for him, but it was a great opportunity and learning experience that led to more interesting internships down the road.

Thinking of summer internships, Ds is currently thinking about whether or not to pursue a PhD or an MS after he graduates. He would like research experience to help him in that decision, so that might affect what he does this coming summer. He was invited to meet with a prof.'s research group last year, but it was not a good match (not a very interesting area to ds) and neither ds nor the prof (who was over-the-top busy) were proactive in getting ds involved, so that opportunity fizzled. There are programs here for undergrads who want to do research, so ds might apply to that. another unfortunate thing is that the area ds is interested in is not a strength of this University. Only one professor, I believe, works in natural language processing. . . Ds may have other interests, though. He'll need to figure this all out. Sorry for the ramblings! More ahead. . .

Schedule Ramblings: Well, I should have a less packed day today. Yesterday, I had a meeting from 9:30 - 11:15, a bit of time to eat lunch and finish prepping for classes, out to work from 1:30 - 5:30 (out 1 - 6), another meeting 7 - 9:15 pm. I went to the last meeting late. Though I am fairly superwoman-ish, I just couldn't make, eat, and clean up dinner in 45 minutes. (getting home at 6 pm and needing to leave again at 6:45 pm) This kind of day is OK - except I happen to have 4 of them this week. Today is the one day this week that is not so packed: I may/may not go to weight watchers at 9:15. I do need to run a couple quick errands. I teach 1:30 - 3:30, and then I will race across town to meet my tutee 4 - 5:30. I'll then race home, do the wonder woman dinner thing, and then meet with my mentoree on campus 7 - 8:30 pm. Then, I'll need to have 2 quizzes made and 2 classes prepped tonight b/c tomorrow I will go straight from the moment I walk out the door at 8:20 a.m. until I'm home at 6 pm.

I don't know how I'm supposed to keep up with housework when I'm out so much of the day and also needing time at home to prep for work? I also have no idea when I'll have time to work on putting together the adult SS class I'm teaching this Sunday. It is a combo of 2 teachings I've done at the moms group - but I still need time to reformulate the material. I'll only have 1 hour when I spent about 2.5 hours on this in the moms group. One pastor is expecting 40 or 50 or even more to be in attendance. The other moms group teachers will be in the room with me, as will some of the other moms group leaders. And dh. So, I'll have support in there with me.

Fortunately, not every week is quite this intense. . . . In the meantime, I'm falling behind in laundry and dusting and vacuuming and the MBR needs some attention. I am keeping up with the kitchen and putting decent homemade meals on the table, a priority in this household.

Dniece left yesterday for Boston before heading back across the puddle in a couple weeks to home in the Netherlands. I think she had a good time here. She was very impressed by dfriend R when she shadowed him in the hospital Monday morning. I think that was helpful to her. It was a different setting than the Boston Children's Hospital. She's not sure she wants to be an MD, even though she is almost done with her initial training. It's related to how one actually uses one's mind on the job (what she expressed as a lot of memory work vs. creativity) as well as the work atmosphere. She may want to be more research-oriented or even more engineering-oriented. Otherwise, she is most interested in Pediatric Cardiology, which is what she was observing in Boston. It will be interesting to see what she ends up doing. She is a really smart girl, also a nationally ranked chess player in the Netherlands -- which is a small country.

TaDas!

Yes, how do you get things done at home -when you're not there, Helia? The plight of the working woman I'm afraid and those of us always on the run.

Finding myself just a tad nervous over dh's ultra sound this morning. My mind knows everything is probably okay, but I think being this far away from him, makes me a little more jittery about it.

I'm all the way with my morning routine through having breakfast. Now just sipping my coffee and then will get busy. Need to do dishes and spend my 10 minutes cleaning in the office (I actually have the timer set to 12). It eventually will be clean and ready for us to use. I can't really sort papers and that sort of thing -but I do pile them NEATLY.

Gopd morning, all!

Remember when I told you in August about dd1's dog jumping from the moving pickup and 9 days later they came home to find her paralyzed? Well early last week they found her standing outside on more than one occasion. So dd1 made an appointment at a major university veterinary clinic for her and it is this morning. The last few days, she has started to slowly walk. She can not lift her feet, but rather drags them. She only stands or slowly walks while outside. I am anxious to hear from dd1 after the appointment. Dd1 went prepared to stay again overnight, in case they do any surgery.

Dh came home from work sick, mid-morning Monday. He had a fever and felt terrible. He has been having ear issues for well over a month. In fact, he missed 2 days of work a few weeks ago with ear issues and wouldn't go to the walk in clinic. His dr. is booked until Dec. 3. So yesterday he was at the walk in clinic when they opened. He has a bacterial fungus in his ear. Ewww, but at least he knows what is wrong now. He is on an antibiotic and a pain killer. He said he feels like he is talking with a bucket over his head. He can't hear out of that ear. He watched TV for 2 days and on Monday he had the TV so loud, that I could have just screamed.

I am staying home today and cleaning. Later I will mow the yard/leaves. I want to buy groceries tomorrow so that on Friday I can go with dd2 to see the girls in the costume parade at daycare. She also wants to take them to a child friendly haunted house but don't know how we will work that in. Tomorrow is conferences and she will be at school until at least 7 pm.

After breakfast, I will wash my face, brush teeth and dress, so that I can get busy. I will shower after I get dusty while mowing leaves. Guess I better quit talking about being busy and get busy..............

My computer is acting up so I started with a reboot and am now doing all the updates (which means more reboots.) In between, I've s2s and mended the pile of underwear I set aside to mend.

I have to leave for my fitbit walk in an hour but would like to make more progress before I leave the house.

NOW I'm hungry (but am in the 4 hours of not being able to eat anything substantial.) Sigh.... 12 more days of this and then the pills will be done (for now, not sure what happens if the tick tests positive.)

ToddlerN has been fighting a cold but was full of energy yesterday.

Sunrise is lovely here this morning.

Nice to see so many of you busy here.
That is great news about your dd's dog, Lilac. I'm curious what the vet will say and/or do. I hope she? fully recovers.
Good luck with errands, Twins.

Dh called after his ultra sound and only had time to tell me he had no idea why they did it. So I'm supposing they wanted it just for their records to compare to one he had last fall. (we were interrupted by a phone call -said he'd call me back later). So, in any event, no news is good news.

I've done this dishes, cleaned up the kitchen, straightened all the 'hot spots' in the living, dining, entryway and our room. I've spent the last 40 minutes working in the office. Had the timer set for 3 sets of 12 actually and did about 6 minutes over that. (my goal is 10 minutes per session). So it's looking like lots of progress in there. Am just piling all the (many) odd pieces of paper/mail. Will have dd plow through it when she has time & make a pile for me to shred. I can do that without looking at what anything is. I know for sure some can be tossed/shredded -like 2012's insurance cards. :?

Now I'm, like Kathryn, waiting for it to be lunchtime. I'm hungry.

Going to see if I can find anything on the computer for easy exercises like in my chair or for seniors.
