Dh called a little south of Lumberton, NC (he was in a rest area). That was around 5:15. Said he was tired and almost 'bought it once' and that was enough (enough for me too). Wanted a hotel short distance into SC. Finally got one in Dillon, SC. Had to stop -he called and is there. He's going next door for dinner & then to bed. Glad to know he's there. Just sent a text to our boys to let them know he's nestled in.

Supper's ready -the jury's out on how good the soup is.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

All set up in the lobby. Dh and I have our laptops so we can work, me on the sermon, him on the Christmas letter. We've had two little ones so far (they get treats) and lots of smiles from the adults coming home. Someone else left chocolates out (just a tray of them) but only two are left. I haven't had any (I'm in another 4 hour don't eat zone now.) Dh took a picture of our setup. It is interesting to meet so many people we haven't seen before.

It would be a good place to hang out if one is feeling lonely. I notice one of the seniors holds court here in the afternoon quite frequently.

Back to work now!

Wayne said "It's the cab driver in you." earlier tonight when I told him about my adventures in finding the P ennington's today. The location listed on the internet was not correct. I did track down the store and also found the animal shelter that I wanted to go to. Wayne and I are looking to adopt 2 young cats sometime soon.

We ended up having pizza and wings for dinner here. We also have a Friday night tradition of calling his mother. She remembers me from 35 years ago, so that helps.

There didn't seem to be anything posted in the lobby and no children knocked on our door.

We only had about 6 kids go by. A lot of the children are immigrant so may not be celebrating Halloween. Others may have been driven to other neighbourhoods so didn't go through the lobby. The adults that went through really got a kick out of it. Two people took photos. Another (Asian) came and asked for help about joining the residents association. She assumed we were management or RA. Actually a lot figured it was something management was doing and were surprised it was just us.

I got a good deal of the sermon done. Dh finished up the writing on the newsletter. Now to do layout.

We put out porch light on and opened the bag of candy...but as usual, no trick-or-treaters. We do have a pair of little twin boys down the street...though we rarely see them outside. We're in a very quiet neighborhood.

I'm still working and I'm stiff from sitting so still. Got myself into an awful mess. I found another mistake way back and I've been filling out other forms. The state instructions are so poor and they copy light grey, hard to read, so I must sit and study this one.

I'm thinking I don't have enough brain power any more to keep this stuff all correct. Spinning plates beginning to fall off their poles around here...

I am REALLY being a Halloween Scrooge. When we got home from supper, dh said, "Do you want me to turn the lights on and put the jack-o-lantern out?" And I just said no... it is sooo cold and windy here, and NONE of our neighbors had their lights on, so I thought, why bother?

Fun to see a little video of dgs in his costume though... we'll pretend Halloween again when he gets home.

My stomach is bothering me and dh is sacked out on the couch snoring.
Tomorrow is another day.

We had intense weather as well. A deluge shortly after 8, plus thunder and lightning.

Dd was with youth group, although their plans for a hayride and bonfire had to be changed to inside. I was interested to see that not a single girl went the sexy-costume route. Dd was actually the most femininely dressed of the girls I saw. One of the girls was a 10th Dr. Who in the trenchcoat, one was some other very-covered-up character I didn't recognize, someone was a penguin. Dd was an elf (she didn't buy those ears for nothing), but in full Ren-fair dress, so very much a Tolkien-like one. I had given them a bunch of light bands to hand out but I guess they didn't need them.

H is home we had pizza I made for dinner. No tricker treaters here no outside lights on, most folks go to private parties or to the businesses downtown they pass out candy they have trunk or treat too.

DH is watching TV, I'm doing 10 minutes of walking with every letter I write tonight, and want to get caught up before the weekend starts. Have LOL to do tomorrow, sheets to (hopefully) change (if I don't run out of energy), a crochet project and writing projects to do. DH will watch college football, I'll putter around the house, walk, etc...

It'll be foggy to start out the weekend, in the morning. Halloween evening is quiet, it's dry and cloudy. Only adults live on our street, haven't have trick or treaters in years, the grade/middle school nearby has festivities and I wouldn't doubt if the church out here does, too. Am anxiously awaiting Halloween costume pix from Dson/Ddil with the grands in them.

Have a nice evening, Everyone!
