I love the smell of wood smoke - we have a neighbor here that uses her fireplace almost daily and it always smells so good when I walk the dogs. I also love the smell of sawdust - reminds me of my dad always building something. My favorite fragrance for summer is Bobby Brown Beach, which does smell like an old fashion sun tan lotion.
Very cold and blustery today - the high today here is 43 degrees and the wind is blowing like crazy.
Dh and I have had a quiet day. Macs had PT this morning and then I had body work. Was feeling great and then, when getting up I rolled myself off the table to the floor. So my back and neck are achy now.
Tonight we are going to an event at the JCC - I need to get our supper started, feed the ddogs and s2s before we go.
Yesterday I visited my dsis - long day as usual. She is about the same.
Tomorrow we are going to see dd and take her out for brunch in Knoxville.

Dh and I walked to the neighbourhood grocer (slightly farther) and on the way came across a 'library box' (they are birdfeeder-like boxes that hold books you are free to take and return or replace with something else.) I got another AJ Jacobs book, The Guinea Pig Diaries. Score!
The neighbourhood store didn't have the sale ground beef so I grabbed a flyer and we walked to the superstore and got it price matched. Ran into one of my walking buddies there. She called me by my internet name since that's the only name she knows me by. Dh asked me after and I explained that I hadn't bothered to let them know my real name yet. Internet security and all. It was neat to run into someone I knew in the store; that's the first time since we moved here.
Back from my spinning meeting it went well.
Then did a store run.
The house snells like lagnasa tbe froz. Kind yum.
Dh is working on the scarry room his office is looking much better now.
I did hen chores & got eggs put away.
My service still isn't finished. I have pastoral prayers to write and am settling on hymns because there's nothing appropriate in the little hymnbook I have to work with. All old favourites, they won't care.
We had dinner really late. I hadn't realized how late it was. I now have to stay up to at least 11:15, preferably 11:30 in order to take my pill then. I had both milk and iron with dinner and those are wait 3 hours foods. Didn't finish until 8 but can't lie down for a while after having the pill. Sigh... So much for getting an extra hour of sleep tonight (unless I go to bed and then get up at 11 and take the pill and sit up for a while.)
I got up early, took tMeds, put on breakfast (I turn off the heat and it cooks itself), went back to bed. Failed to get up for church, but have been doing some things here. windows and screend in bathroom and my bedroom. boxed sup.meds.

Our weather is like Twins' Mom's. Did not open hen window today to avoid wind through there so much. After going out early, did not travel out again all day just because it looked so blustery and uncomfortable. So even mail didn't get picked up. Odd for us, but, hey, I don't have a wind headache or earache, so that's a success.

Dd was deep into a sort of her clothing, using our LIVING ROOM, when her uncle dsecondbil came over. She said, "gee, but it's Saturday. Who would think someone would visit." Aauuugggh. Thankfully her uncle is completely easy-going and unimpressed with mess. Btw, the reason she couldn't use her bed to sort was that she had put her chair up onto her bed to clean her floor. That makes sense, right?
She got a tall-kitchen-bag full for donation, and after finishing her jeans washing, has her coming-week's daily laundry loads ready for the week.
I have her place all of a single load into its largest shirt, wrap arms around into an enclosed ball, and put the different colored balls, like Easter Eggs, into her basket. This has been one of the best s for teens doing their own laundry that I have found, since those loads will likely be smaller than whole-household loads and several go into a basket. Sometimes it would be more efficient to put her laundry with mine, but she needs to have the responsibility and see the cause and effect.
I visited my colorist this afternoon and it doesn't look like she did a very good job. Same brand (healthy look) as last time, but for some reason the color didn't "take" as well. I never color soon after a shampoo as the box warns. But is it possible I wait too long and then the color won't take because of oils in the scalp? Or is it more likely just variations in the quality of the product? Frustrating.
Minister never sent music for tomorrow. His daughter married last weekend and when I talked to him Thurs a.m. he was sick with a cold. So I doubt if he has been on his game. Hope the practice will go well in the morning.

We turned our clocks back at 5:17 p.m. The only clocks, which haven't been turned yet, are the cuckoo clock and the main clock over the archway leading to the hall, for the rest of the house.
I got my booklet from The President's Challenge today. It's 48 pages long. It's about exercise and diet. It's very good. I had one, several years old, which wasn't very long at all.
I've been crocheting butterflies, for DGD's afghan. It's very slow-going. But it'll be a gorgeous afghan. Doing 3 afghans for Christmas this year, in combination with the $ gift, DH and I discussed it. I'll just do each of the 3 youngest grands a puppet in their matching afghan colors. I'm just too busy with writing, to put extra pressure on myself like this. We also decided "how many afghans do they NEED???" and next year, it'll be NO afghans; just 1 crocheted toy and the $ gift. The parents can purchase what they want the kids to have, from their Christmas $.
It'll be nice to get in a extra hour of sleep. Ha! This time change always screws things up for me for a week or so. At lease it's temporary. People who don't "need" to do it are so lucky.

Hi everyone! I will NOT be posting from work anymore. No, I did not get in trouble, but when I tried to get back on the next day, the site was blocked to employees. I think what happens is that whenever someone accesses a site that is new to the system, either software or a person decides if it is work-relevant and blocks it. There is a way to appeal the determination, but I am not going that route for obvious reasons.
I am still trying to adjust to the EARLY schedule I have. I now have a train pass (which is also a bus pass), a wheeled cart for carrying things on bus/train, and an insulated lunchbox. I have had to break out my ankle length coat for the mornings. I may look dorky, but I am not shivering. Some people (who must have anti-freeze for blood) are still in shorts! I have started a new crocheted doll dress as a train project. My commuted time is about 2 hours a day, so I am getting lots done on it. Unfortunately, that does not leave much time for anything else. I still need to determine my health coverage and such, but I am so glad to HAVE such things again. I am not sure if I will have enough vacation time accrued to make the usual December trip to Mobile. Bummer. DD12 will be going though. The X will take her to his parents, then send her to Mobile with his brother, who lives about a mile from my parents. The other woman's X is not very flexible about Christmas arrangements and it looks like the other woman will not be going to AL with them. I don't have a lot of sympathy, because she chose to ditch her husband for someone else's. However, I think her X should try to work with them, not for their sakes, but for the time that one day will come that he needs them to be flexible. I am keeping my mouth zipped (except here), because (a) none of my biz (b) he would not listen to me anyway.
I won't bore you with my long 'pending' list. Suffice it to say, I have not had time to do stuff and it shows. I still need to clean up from the Halloween party. I am also trying to organize things, so it is taking longer. Will work on it Sunday night. Tomorrow is: church, get Briggs and Stratton (new foster cats) some shots, Bible study for me + youth group for DD.

Emptynester: If your dog is scratching so much he has raw spots, he may be in need of a vet trip. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. DFosterCat14 was having this problem and required anti-biotics and a steroid shot. That did clear it right up though. The vet said she was allergic to something. The presumed culprit was a new laundry soap (labeled hypoallergenic). I stopped using it and the problem has not recurred.
I certainly sympathize with MT's dog... I will be sooo glad when I can visit the dermatologist Tues and MAYBE get some relief from my itching.
At least with the cold weather, it wasn't so bad at the game. (That is a very poorly written sentence.) I'm trying to say -- heat and sweat make my problem much worse.
Also wanted to tell y'all -- that quilt PROBABLY DOES NOT smell like all that stuff anymore, except in my head. Dmom has certainly laundered it many time since the last time I lay out in the sun, LOL. But it does hold memories of a carefree time and it is one thing I really hope dbro has no interest in -- whenever the time comes to do something with dmom's possessions, you know.
Our ball game was a nail biter but we won. Whew. Glad that's over.
