Tuesday Try, Try Again

I am glad to be back from my walk this morning. Cleaned a squash and it is cooming in the oven. This yr. We have gotten off so many pesky polling calls yea! That is a relief.

Got my smaller table loom upstairs today yea!
my kniddy noddy came today happy day.
I will try again to get to the Tuesday morning knitting group meeting I think that will work in my schedule now.

Good -- afternoon, I guess.

I am s2s, have eaten and done Bible reading and some journaling AND I s/s ALL THREE bathrooms.
And I did my morning stretching routine (leg lifts, crunches, push-ups, and plank.)
So, even though it is 1:00 pm, I feel pretty good.

About to go to vote, then to the dermatologist. While I am with the doctor, dh is going to take ds/ddil to pick up their car at the dealership (they finally took it in for some recalls and much needed repairs) -- and then we're all going to meet up again for supper before dh & I come home to watch the election returns.

I may call dmom back... certainly hope she is having a better day...
and I still need to call my duncle.

Local election IS getting kinda heated -- some nasty stuff on FB, etc... I will be so glad when this is over.

Blind spot in the car... boy, do I know about THAT. * whew * All cars have them, I'm sure, but I still feel a little nervous in this Tahoe. I love it, don't get me wrong -- but I am aware that I can't see as much as I want to a lot of times.

Our pastor has talked about the importance of establishing a Sabbath.
With dh retired, it's like EVERY day is a Sabbath -- and NO day is a Sabbath, if you know what I mean. As Lilac said:

Otherwise I will spend my day in pjs and will get nothing done. It will be a big adjustment getting used to him being home.

OH -- BIG WTG to Harriet's dd!!! Sooo happy for her!!! (((Harriet))) -- I certainly understand your mixed feelings.

And oh my... more mention of wheat/grain causing itching (in dogs, thankfully, today). Oh, I do hope the dermatologist doesn't think THAT is my problem...

Farthest away from polling place I've ever parked, and longest line except maybe one very long-ago Pres election - I do remember we had serpentine lines roped off for that one indoors, but don't know if that matched the long line through the parking area today. It is a very long ballot here, so even when people got to the moment of voting, things were still slow for most everyone.

Went by the healthy grocery for vegetarian choices for HRH. Treated myself to a squash quesadilla (better than it sounds). Got home and only then realized how close they are to pharmacy 2, at least as the crow flies, and I have to pick up things there. Sigh. Oh well, I'm supposed to write letters today, so if I hurry with those I could go by PO as well. Errands, errands, errands.

It's such a beautiful day here. I just got back from taking ddog to the park where we had a lovely long walk. So many other women were there with their dogs, too, & we stopped several times to chat & sniff noses (the dogs did that ). Love the sound of dry leaves crunching underfoot. Back home & I've stripped the bed & have sheets washing now. I've made myself a mug of hot cocoa & am off to cuop.

Getting really sleepy.

Finished updating Quicken with credit card chits. I'm now reconciling credit card accounts. These go back to July. The card I did was our biggest one. I only have two months to do with that and they thankfully balance straight off. Progress is slow but steady here. I think I'm going to reconcile bank accounts next and then get back to credit cards.

Dinner is up in the air. I don't feel like cooking. Dh might, or we might go out for dinner somewhere. I just feel like Subway.

Back from delivering truck. Stopped for lunch on the way home -just a nice salad bar and soup, which was very good. This is at a culinary school in Avon Park, FL. Usually have their buffet but learned it doesn't begin until the 17th. Nice to be back home.

I dug right in and got the dishes done THEN.......started on the fridge. Now I know why I didn't tackle it before. Dh helped me and took a lot out to the trash or recycling bin. He washed all the shelves for me but my back is still 'killing' me.

Dh just texted me that gd16's 'foster' Mom, she and the other daughters are coming for dinner on Nov. 18th. Not my call -but guess our door will be locked. Sad to feel that way.

I think "not necessarily", Twins. Just haven't happened to experience that -yet- and hope you never do.

Dh talked to the cardiologist's office this morning. They had called to let him know the ultra sound was ok -woohoo! Now to see if the change in medication for fluid retention starts working. So far so good -I think.

Dh will call his company's benefits tomorrow if I don't discover an absolute answer this evening. I'm really dumbfounded that our monthly premium is nearly $15 a month cheaper than 2 years ago and $45 less than last year. Looks like same coverage/same deductibles/same co-pays.

Have no idea what we're having for supper. Sure didn't come across anything in the fridge. Right now I feel too tired to care. DD has her TSA team meeting tonight. Dsonil will pick her up on his way home.

His mother has offered the Cadillac she bought in January for him to drive -she's decided she doesn't like it. DD told dsonil he should have said, "Gee, Mom, the next time you get a car you don't like, at least get one that I do."

Wow, it's such a gorgeous afternoon here. I drifted off to the yard and got the ddogs out for awhile in the sunshine, then got sleepy and napped. I did get through a lot of paper this afternoon, however.

I don't know what time dh will be home - perhaps between 5:30 and 6. I'm going to work another round if possible.

-update to do list
-sweep the back patio
-order cosequin for ddogs

Found dmom had written another $150 ck to dnephew. This is dsis' son. This makes $800 since Sept 15th.

Back from the dermatologist. He is a little puzzled about my condition as well -- says the hands definitely look like excema (sp?) but the rest of this -- neck/face/scalp/etc -- looks more like psoriasis -- but not exactly. He gave me a prescription for a moisturizer and another kind of medicine, and said I could use the cream I already had a prescription for (from the other doctor) on my hands. He said the cream was too strong for the thinner skin on my neck, so he gave me this other thing for it. Also recommended California Baby Super Sensitive Shampoo and Body Wash and told me to use that for 2 or 3 weeks.
Whew. I will start all this tomorrow, b/c the rx cream will not be in until then. The shampoo/body wash may not be available except at Target, which is 25-30 miles away (same town as doctor) and ugh -- it is pretty expensive -- I think $16.99 for the bottle I just bought. * sheesh * Of course, if it proves to be a miracle cure, I can order it online.

My hope is that I can get this cleared up and gradually work back into my normal products.
At least he didn't mention the suspicion that it might be a reaction to any foods. Thank goodness!

We ate w/ds, ddil, dgs and now we are back home watching the election returns. DH is in hog-heaven. (LOL -- I bet that's a true Southernism, isn't it??? )
Hope he'll be just as happy when the night is over.

So glad to hear Mr. Dee got a good report from the ultrasound! And sending lots of good wishes for the dinner on the 18th! (((HUGS)))

Oh -- re: voting time -- I saw somewhere that many people say they don't vote simply b/c it takes too long. Same article said average wait time in Alabama is 10.5 minutes. We did not have to wait at all, just walked up, showed our ID, signed in and sat down w/our ballots. DH said the only time he has ever had to wait any length of time was for Obama's first election -- said it might have taken 20 minutes that day. There are so many good things about living in a small town.

I also have another load of laundry in the washer. DH and I can't eat without making a mess apparently. It was a quesadilla that did us in, too, Harriet -- but ours had grilled shrimp in it!

Dee, glad your DH's tests were ok. Let's hope the visit turns out ok. She is on her best behavior for the first little bit of time, isn't she?

Poor Dakota. I hope you find a solution. I wonder if that's the reason he was "lost" or abandoned.

Went to vote. Had to park in the next parking lot down. It was ok, just a little walk and no line inside, everything organized and I had no wait. We have paper ballots we fill out with pen and then we feed into a machine which scans it ... I'll watch the results tonight. We have a bunch of stuff going on in FL. Medical marijuana, governor's race, several ballot issues regarding taxes etc. I did the best I could to understand it all.

Just as I got back into car our committee head called and said our meeting was cancelled because there were no issues to discuss. I don't believe that, but she did sound rushed. I get the evening off and one less minutes to produce. I took a nap instead of washing and rolling my hair.

Did the 3-D's. Waiting for DH to get home still. It's 7:30 here and I'm more than a little worried. He's not answering his phone when I call. Which might mean something or not...sometimes he can't hear the ringing. Helper he has with him is a little short on wisdom I fear; I wish he had someone better out there with him right now. I wonder if it's truck problem? Need to keep busy around here so I don't worry so much.

Editing: just heard from DH. They had worked late, he had to take helper home, he stopped to buy lumber for tomorrow, stopped at church for meeting. He had his phone off, probably from the polls this morning; no wonder I'm a basket case.

Lucylee: look into apple cider vinegar rinse for your scalp (not sure if it will work on the rest.) And our hair stylist says that those that have problem dandruff always eat yogurt. He's not sure why there's be a correlation but it applies to dh (who won't try apple cider vinegar!) Dh has eczema but it is just in the beginning stages and comes for a few days, then leaves. On his fingers. He has a cream that works for now and handles the flare ups. Most of the time they are related to stress.

Back from a late dinner due to a misunderstanding. Dh has been on a roll today so at 5 when I asked where we'd eat dinner out (I could tell neither of wanted to cook) we came to a stand still (he wanted McD, I wanted Subway and I didn't want to take mine to his or vice versa (they aren't close and both are hot meals.) So it was unsettled as to where we were going but I said I was hungry and dh went off to the bathroom. I had been in the office picking up a printout which I took to my desk in the living room. He didn't come and didn't come and I didn't say anything. Apparently, he was waiting for me. I was waiting for him. Over an hour later (and now my dinner was so late that my pill will be late tonight and I will have to stay up later in order to be up long enough after it not to have a bad night.)

So I'm grumpy. My tummy just aches all the time. On a scale of 1 - 10 it is a 1 most of the time but it is seldom a 0. And it has been up to a 3 at times as well. Five more days.

Had a steak sandwich with milk (so have to wait 3 hours for my pill, making it at 10 and bed no sooner than 10:30.)

I've been sitting all day (except for some tidying in the morning) so after dinner we did a few groceries. That got me up to 5K steps. I picked up the mail and walked up from 16, zig zagging from one end stairwell to the other. That was only worth 500 steps though, so I'm on the treadmill for a few minutes before dh's conference call and will hop on it again after he's done. I need about 2 miles to make my 10K steps today. All day I've watched myself drop in the standings because others were moving and I wasn't.
