Washing-up Wednesday

Resting after a vigorous day. Friday will be super busy, Saturday will be insane with us working from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The 'green room' requirements for the performer on Saturday night were exact (and long.) The guy who received had never heard of half the items so the women on the committee divided the list up between us. I got the whole-food stuff since there are so many natural food stores in the neighbourhood.

Taking the bus worked really well. I came home because I had bought super large envelopes and then I went back to the natural food stores with dh. The bad weather blew over so it was just windy. The sky was black to the north but I was always in good weather.

I'm going to take most of the evening off and then have a quietish day tomorrow. Since I need to be at the church on Friday by 10, instead of 3, I'll have to give up on my swim that day. By noon we should be done the first round of work so won't be needed again until 4 and will come home in between. Nice we live so close (about a 15 minute drive, tops, compared to 45 from the old house.)

I've already done 11K steps for the day and have bumped up my position once more. So many of the people walk/run in the mornings so I slip in the standings but then catch up later in the day.

I am reading everyones posts about holiday plans and let me say this about that! WOW! Am I glad that we don't have all these problems. We will have Thanksgiving dinner (just Mr. Guy and I) at the best restaurant in town. No fuss, no muss. Then Friday and Saturday will be devoted to getting the last minute items into the totes to go to AZ on Sunday morning. Last year we did the same thing. On Christmas we were lucky enough to have dinner at a country club (wonderful place) with Rosie and Sweetie and Rosie's dson. It was wonderful. Because Rosie's dson and his g.f. (aka "the girl") will be visiting her on Thanksgiving we will miss them. We really wanted to see him and "the girl". I guess we can't have everything, huh? Christmas this year? Don't know what the plans are yet but I know I won't be cooking! Rosie, can't they stay a few more days so we can see them. We arrive on Monday December 1st. You know how much we like him.

I don't know why I am on here when I should be cleaning and prepping for getting ready to leave in 3 weeks, but I am one who works better as the time gets closer and I have to rush a bit. (Besides I just purchased the new Harry Bosch book on my Kindle so I am very busy reading. He is my hero.) The week after next is appointments every day all week.

* First thing this morning I sent out the library group's financial reports .
* Then I took care of a bunch of other correspondence.
* Dishes
* 1 load of laundry washed/dried/folded & put away
* stuff from DMIL's in from the car
* recycling out to the garage
* post office
* baby gift
* filled the gas tank -- $2.869 per gallon
* long list of things needed from WM, almost 2 hours in there
* took the recycle bin to the curb
* brought in all the groceries
* put away all the groceries
* soup for supper

Tonight I will do
* Cuop
* 2nd load of laundry
* Research for the library group's Fancy Nancy Tea Party -- meaning that I will look at all the pretty illustrations in the books and write notes about character names and activities that we might use at our event.

I just love our atomic clock. Today I had to go outside and stand a couple minutes to see how to dress to go out, did I need a heavier top, a sweater? And all day long I look up to the time to see how my day's going, what do I have time for next...

Anyway, I did all that the book said to do, taking out batteries, leaving 10 minutes, putting them back in, setting the outside sending unit the right distance from the clock and waiting till they start "communicating"... but I think it got really broken when DH dropped it the other night trying to change the batteries. Now we're thinking it maybe just quit working and wasn't really the batteries at all. I ordered another sending unit online. Mine has the picture of the phase of the moon plus indoor/outdoor temps...if new unit doesn't fix it we'll have to get another one.

And I've ordered my first Christmas gift online also. Told DH not to look at any of the packages that arrive here...

I'm watching Lucylee and family to see how all their holiday plans turn out. I'm sure it will all be fine.

Our family is in denial about turkey day no matter what we plan inlaws seem to change it. so I will clean and tell em to bring a sandwich if they want to eat hubby is going target praticing.

I had a great day.
Walked with a friend got so windfall apples for the hens.

Decent dinner. Dh liked it. I didn't (ribs still bother me, something that started around the gall bladder issues time.) But I was too lazy to cook myself something else.

I've watched 3 more episodes of West Wing. Apparently, I missed about 9 in the last season and am now into the ones I haven't seen yet. Just took a break to clean up the kitchen and phone my senior friend to see how her surgery went today. She's fine and at her son's place. Strong voice, lots of attitude, so my mind's at rest.

Now to get back to watching tv. I'm bound and determined to take this evening off.

Norma, I can imagine how much you'd love to meet this new young lady. That would be fun.

Got lots of housework done today. Was well underway when very dear dstepdil dropped by from her dr's appt to loan me her vacuum cleaner, and had lunch here since she had fasted for appt. It was really helpful to have that. She hung around a while as well. Because she was with me, I got one of the hanging quilts changed while all the LR furniture was pulled out for baseboards. And she damp-mopped my LR-DR for me while I did other things.

Thanksgiving - dstepdil tells me she doesn't expect her work schedule to allow her to have everyone over this year. Sigh. I was kinda hoping she could, since ddil had us last year and I did it the year before. Oh well, it will probably fall to me again. Hopefully I can keep it simple.

Dd16 went to her small group youth group this evening.

Tardy rules at school, already somewhat unfair I've thought, are getting worse. I don't get it. Now they are saying any tardy, morning or another class, even if it is your first tardy of the year, means lunch detention the next day. Good grief. It had already gotten to the point students were watching their tardies and being afraid to go to school at all if late too often. But now, they will actually have a punishment that previously was reserved for conduct offences. Honestly, if dd and I realize we are late one morning - a wreck on the road, bad weather, anything - it will occur to me that I simply don't agree with this punishment, so I'm keeping her home. I have to think about this one. I need to get clarification about whether there are excused tardies without dr's notes. Maybe I'll just take her home and call the doctor so she can go complain to him and get a note for at least the last period!

Harriet maybe you could get an officer on scene to sign a slip for you keep some in you purse. Write your school, supertendendt sp? School board senqtor congressman etc.!

Trying to pretend I care what the kit. Looks like. I needed to move off the couch did dishes coffee is ready hens lite is off. Qt x. Time for my arm work out.

Hi everyone! Another late check in. I came very close to missing the train today. People were boarding as I was trying to find a parking place! I got the last one, not even in the lot, on the adjoining road. Did I get up in time? Oh yes, plenty of time. I had to make an unscheduled stop due to 'gastric issues' shall we say? Thank goodness I wasn't ON the train. (If I had missed, I would have just continued driving, but I really like using the commute time to crochet rather than drive).

I got actual WORK to do at work!!! Extracted some documents from an archive database, decoded them, and sent them on their way. I also have some assignments from the backlog. The backlog is actually more like an IT ToDo database. I hate that it is called backlog, it makes us sound behind! Outside of payroll, I have arranged a vet trip for Briggs & Stratton, fed my car, checked snail mail and voice mail, took pictures of Briggs & Stratton and sent them in for the animal org newsletter, repaired a witch, and put almost all of the Halloween stuff back in the shed. When I did the pictures, I also uploaded and organized all the pictures on the camera (about 30 of them).

There is still much on my list, but I need to eat.

Emptynester: Ramblinrose recommended the food from Blue Buffalo for your dog. I just wanted to let you know it is highly regarded in the animal org I work with. And some of those folks are VERY particular about pet foods. I don't know if it will help the problem, but it certainly shouldn't do any harm to try it.

After all the talk about apple cider vinegar here, I was talking to dm about dh's ear problem and she told me to put some in his ear and see if it helps. I didn't tell him the idea came from her and he actually agreed to do it. Luckily I had a brand new package of 2, eye and ear droppers. I washed and then sterilized it in boiling water. He can not smell, taste and barely can hear. He finishes his meds on Monday. I told him if he isn't better he needs to go back to the dr. before he loses his hearing permanently. He said the dr. had told him the same thing. He has been going to bed early and drinking lots of water. I can't imagine what kind of shape he would be in, if he wasn't doing everything possible to get better.

Tonight as I was closing the window shade in the dining room, as I walked away it practically blew apart. It is now done for. I hope it didn't scratch the new window. I will check that in the morning. I can't find the packing slip. I have the instructions and found my credit card bill. I unrolled the shade and all the info is on there, so will call there tomorrow.

I did a lot of cleaning today. I still need to vacuum and dust the living room and dining room. I'll do that tomorrow after I buy groceries. I want to get my routine cleaning done so I can tackle some deep cleaning.

Dh likes to watch the Food Network. I told him that when he retires he can do the cooking. He agreed. We'll see how that goes.
