Re: THURSDAY TOP O' THE DAY
Harmony, yes, dd2 living just down the street has made my life a lot easier. Also, since August 1, they have had a huge lifestyle change that I need to write about in MO, but just keep putting it off.
In our school district, all employees wear a lanyard with a photo ID. All students from grades 5 and up also wear them. No exceptions. You lose or don't bring it, then you buy a new one.
My dh is so miserable, crabby and now getting almost hateful. Ughhhh, I know he is miserable but it is not my fault. He should have went to the dr. at least 3 weeks before he did. Tonight I stayed upstairs and watched TV. Once he went to bed, I came downstairs.
Part of dhs problem is that he came home early to remove the spotlights that were on the east and west ends of the sunroom. They should have been underneath the eave instead of on the fascia, because they would get wet and the bulbs didn't last as long. He had intended to replace the east end one and put it underneath the eave. But he couldn't get that panel all the way off, so he unhooked the electrical part and capped it off or whatever was needed. So he came in and asked me if we really needed those lights. I feel like we do, since we can not turn on an outside light in the backyard, from the sunroom or house. He does have a light on his garage plus a motion light, but where the motion light is, it doesn't always come on. The garage one has to be turned on from inside the garage, which doesn't do you any good in the dark. We had talked of getting a mercury light and putting it on the south side of his garage. It would come on at dusk and stay on all night and will light the backyard. Until he feels better and after he retires, he will surely do something about the situation.
I finally reached the insurance office. I don't have a clue why they didn't answer for 1 1/2 days of calls. She said this new company they have brought in has really good rates and everyone who she has quoted prices to have went with them. The house renews Dec. 1. The motorcycles renew in April and the motorhome and 4 vehicles renew in September. To get the best discounts, we would need to start all of them on Dec. 1 and then cancel the others and get prorated refunds. At the other house, the cars and house renewed at the same time, but when we moved here, that messed that up. At that time, the motorcycles were with a completely different agency. Once we switched to them to this agency they left them in April. She said she is really busy getting quotes ready, so it will be next week before I hear from her. We have started this process early enough so that is acceptable.
Dec. 1, it will be 3 years since we closed on this house. We moved in Dec. 16 that year. Looking back, I laugh at myself because I actually thought we would do all of things I wanted done in 6 months. Talk about overly optimistic! But dh's bathroom has been redone. We have all new windows plus front door and storm door. We will soon have the vinyl fascia and soffit plus gutters installed. That leaves new flooring through out the house except for the bathrooms which is replaced as the bathroom is redone and 3 of the 5 bedrooms have carpet that is fine. Also, my bathroom needs redone and all the trim and interior doors will be replaced with white. As needed the water heater, furnace and air conditioner will be replaced. As for the kitchen cabinets, dd2 and dh had put in new backsplash and corian countertops. To replace the cabinets, we would need to replace those, too. If we replace cabinets, I want to reconfigure it and dh doesn't, so we will either paint the existing cabinets or reface them. He plans to start on my bathroom in early January. At this point, I am hoping he will be able to do it. He thinks I have a ridiculously high amount set aside for the flooring. I would rather have too much than not enough. Just because it is earmarked for that doesn't mean we have to spend all of it.
Yikes, I just heard dh coughing, a lot. He took A irborn before he went to bed, so I guess this is now going into a cold.
Guess I better head to bed and quit babbling to myself............
