Merry Monday!

Ha! I don't actually feel merry today, but I thought maybe putting that word in the title would help. Maybe I will feel more merry as the day goes on and I am able to accomplish some things (hopefully). Maybe others of you are in a merry spirit! Reading your clever insightful posts and seeing your productivity does lift my spirits each day, so I'm hopeful I'll eventually be feeling merry this Monday.

Pepper declined over the weekend rather drastically. Sunday morning, when she came out of her crate, she had licked/chewed a huge raw oozing bald spot on her hindquarters, about 5 inches across. Walking was painful for her. She seemed to shiver sometimes so we were wondering if she was running a fever. She also refused to eat both meals yesterday. That, more than anything else, worried me. She seems more perky this a.m. but I am glad she is going to the vet first thing - in 45 minutes. When I called Friday, they were booked all day Saturday.

After Pepper's 8:45 vet appt., dd16 has a 10:15 dental appt. Those 2 appts. will be my morning. Dd16 asked to stay home until her appt. At first I balked, but I eventually said "yes." Dh was absolutely fine with it. He is happy to pull kids out of high school classes whenever, kind of not the attitude one would expect of a Univ. prof. Maybe he sees high school education in a larger context? Anyhow, she claims she doesn't learn anything in her first 2 classes anyway, even though one of them is an AP class. I'll call in her absence soon. She's a strong student so missing a class won't affect her much.

I'm off to s2s. Dh is off for a run.

helia, this is typical of dd16's understanding of actual absence from classes as well (not of tardies, which are more negative and iffy). I think your dd probably knows what's what and knows she is in contact with her teachers.

I have been away from our village all weekend and will have to CUOP. So forgive me if I'm not too quick on the uptake!

A wonderful visit with dd34's family. Ds29, ddil and my green-eyed boy came over Saturday, and HRH and dsonil put up a badminton net and the children (and adults) loved the time outdoors in the sun. Dd's 3 oldest boys camped out with their Grandpa in the LR at our house Sat night. Dd34's whole family went with us to church Sunday. What a joy to have them all there. They stayed quite a long while yesterday, leaving later than usual.

So much to put back together around the house! I have a first load of laundry in now and a second planned and ready. The rest of Morning Daily Card was done well.

Harriet, it sounds like you had a wonderful weekend making memories with your family. I couldn't believe it when you mentioned the baby being 5 months old. But I know he was born after school was out but my that time has flown by.

Dh slept in the basement last night in his recliner. He said he has a hard time breathing even with his cpap machine. He is now at the the walk-in clinic.

I heard on the weather that 40 states will be affected by this cold front that is coming our way tonight. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr............ I am not ready for winter.

We will have 2 different outside workmen today. I hope they each get their work finished.

I have a lot of errands to run today, so that I can stay home much of the week. I want to try and find some boots. I have 4 pairs of jeans that would look great tucked inside of boots. They are snug fitting and I could then wear them. But the boots will have to be comfortable or I won't buy them.

Guess I better hop in the shower.

I'm with Lilac on the age of Harriet's newest grandchild. I had wondered if it was a typo and she meant 5 weeks!

Helia, I'd not be merry if I was as worried as you are about Pepper. Hopefully the vet will have news that will lighten your heart and you can feel merry through the afternoon.

I'm up. Not s2s yet. Really slow going, actually, because of the overly active weekend.

Today's challenge will be getting our Christmas newsletters actually mailed. This is a multi-day process but we'll get at least the calendars in the mail today.

Oops for got my long term dose of Rx yesterday got so wrapped up in the game and winding yarn in to balls in the afternoon. Needless to say #'s are up today. ack! Tried to get the timer going on my phone but it needed charged.

Hens are sqacking wanting out! Glad I did my ex. Yesterday.

Good Morning, Merry Monday Ladies!

I woke up at 4:30 a.m., was "stewing" about "things", so got up at 5 a.m., because I was awake since I'd gotten 11 HOURS of sleep on Saturday night! I did QT, read the Bible, wrote in my journal, etc... but forgot the devotional booklet! I'm always forgetting "something". In my office here, I have the "Saturday Success!" display card out and the Saturday/Sunday cat desk calendar days are facing me, too! I "need" to change it to the "Monday Mojo" card and get those cats onto the MONDAY they're supposed to be on!

DH's cousin's facing the Polar Vortex, in CO, her house is being remodeled, is a shell, so they went to Home Depot, put up temporary insulation, before inspection, hoping they pass inspection so they can add permanent insulation, etc.. They don't want themselves or pipes to freeze. Then, their families in Montana and Minnesota are having a hard time of it right now, too. The temps, snow, etc... wow! It's 45.1* here at 7:41 a.m. and there's blue sky with a few white clouds drifting by.

DH is heading to the Dr.'s office. I'll s2s and shampoo, when he returns, and do up the sheets. I plan to read, do snail mail, and walk today. Hoping I can get a nap in, too.

Hoping that Pepper's vet trip will start her healing - if she is like dmom's dog an antibiotic and prednisone may be involved.

Still lovin' the quiet here - want to be active here today and accomplish some things, altho I am getting a late start.

-call vet for refills for dMacs meds
-change clothes and walk ddogs
-clear kitchen counters
-empty the dishwasher
-clear breakfast bar
-start a lol
-s2s

Actually, I think I am going to set a timer and work to TOTH....anyone with me?

Good morning, villagers ~
DH and I had a Sweet Sunday because we didn't do much of anything, and only left the house to go to the truck stop for lunch. After the extreme activity Saturday, I needed several relaxing hours!

He is home again today which changes my plans. I think, though, that the weather is supposed to be relatively nice in the 50s today before a cold front comes through with possible snow tomorrow. Maybe this is the day to finish cleaning out the shed and get some cozy boxes set up for the outdoors cats.

Saturday was truly full of people, and the only time I was alone was in my car driving from one social occasion to the next.
1) To The Big City for large sewing group first thing in the morning.
2) Jumped on the interstate and sped up north to a baby shower, where I didn't know more than half of the ladies so had to do that tough thing of making small talk while trying to keep straight the names and family connections.
3) The shower location was very near DMIL's new apartment so I stopped to visit her.
4) After I finally got home late, DH wanted to go out for pizza, which meant chatting with locals at the diner.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy chatting with all these people -- it's just that having them all in the same day on a tight schedule with a lot of driving back and forth was exhausting.

Today is actually the 5-month bday - yes, hard to believe for Grandma, too! Rolling on the quilt turned out to be mostly over to one side, then the other, finding his views of people. He does roll to tummy, but isn't that interested, wants to see faces. So this was the perfect quilt-on-the-floor weekend. I'm sure this stage won't last long.

Twins' Mom, so far during this hour the first laundry load is folded, breakfast finished, and the second laundry load is through to the dryer. Also fielded another phone call for Angel Tree work.

That went quite well over the weekend, btw. I'd say 2/3 of the names were taken in one day! Wow. Lots of people really stepping up and helping. My 2 dds said that I made my announcement/talk very well. Dd16 said maybe just a little condescending, but dd34 said no, I had to be step-by-step and not miss any important points, as though speaking to the person who knew the least about it, so she gave me high marks for communicating. I'm so glad because they are my best critics. I will admit to becoming nervous during speaking, although I really don't think I was at first.

Also fielded phone call from dsecondmil. She is so lonely, caring for dstepfil, who cannot understand much. They try to have an outing every once in a long while, but it is difficult.

BookSaver, I, too, am good at meeting new people and trying to learn about them, but then feel very "spent" afterward. That's work, and it's always a temptation to stay with the few you know and not make the effort with anyone else. Sounds like you did a good job of including everyone.

Weather here calls for a huge change on Wed late day, and big drop in temps thereafter. I'm thinking I should have dd take down the badminton net, but maybe not yet. She and HRH were two having the most fun playing I think. Maybe one more day. Maybe I'll play. (I was happy babysitter then.)
