Morning everyone.

LadyM, that is interesting. I wonder how much stuff I forget because I don't write it down.

Tracking...hmmm I should make some kind of list. Currently I am tethered to my archboard of county paperwork and the phone. Waiting for gal to call me back with a solution for all the problems. So, I guess I'll work here for a while and see if she calls. Errands out will have to wait.

Oh, LadyM, I'd like to tell you when we were trying to sell our last house people would tiptoe around and I had to encourage them to open closets and drawers...it seemed that nobody wanted to do that. We had them all cleaned out and we wanted them to see all our advantages...but I always had to tell them it was ok. Here's hoping someone soon wants to buy and you don't have to go through much of this.

Alrighty! The rest of the rooms have been restored to show ready by 10am. Our place just hit the onlin MLS but they haven't uploaded pictures to the listing yet.

I think that I have it easier getting our home ready to show since it is a 60 year old farm home the expectations are different than a show place. And since it is unknown whether our home will be bought to be moved/torn down (land developed) or someone will buy it to live in gives another aspect. A developer may not even want to look at the house and only be interested in the land. This morning I told DH it has taught me to not procrastinate on doing PUPA and light cleaning each day. It is a good lesson for me.

For the first time in many days, I don't have something I have to do right now. Weird to have time to exhale. Although I do have MANY things I can and should do, they are not on the schedule.

Were you showing the house while you lived in it? I don't have all the cabinets and closets cleaned out - they are full of our clothes and stuff. hum...

The Realtor told us to get the prescription meds out of the house. She said that she will always be with the potential buyers all the time but occasionally a teenager wonders through the house looking for things to take while their parents are talking with Realtor. That made me realize having our digital devices scattered around all over the house would also be an easy target/temptation for teenager to stick into their pocket. Some of our guns are not kept in the big gun safe but are hidden to be quickly accessible (for us). Maybe we are fooling our self that they won't be found? MPB is a cash business. so we have become used to having a supply around. It is mandatory and has to remain handy and easily (daily) accessible. We can hide it but then can't have people snooping around to find our stashes. It would be easier if we had waited until we moved to start showing our home. We thought we would be closing this week but the sellers parents death couldn't be predicted.

Lunch is cooking - Cast iron skillet filled with chunks of smoked sausage, potatoes, onions, peppers.. Smells good.

Hum…..the biggest employer in this area just announced the potential reduction of 6800 jobs. Can't help but wonder how this announcement will affect local real estate market. Oh well……sometimes you’re like the windshield and sometimes like the bug.

I have laundry going fed & watered hens, wound off warp for loom Christmas quilt us on bc of colder temps. Hens are by the dryer vent! Snow in the forecast today. ToddlerN will be here later on and gkids can play!

Wondering when I can thaw and cook tky. That has been in the freezer a bit longer than we wanted. not sure we want to use it for a holiday. Too cold to smoke it so we will be using the oven.

Kitchen duty next up.

Hello, villagers ~
I'm hiding from the cold, brrr! Not really, I'm just working to get caught up after being away yesterday running errands. And I've been writing this post since early morning, but kept getting up to check something or do something ... though I guess the urge to keep moving is a good thing, right?

We have had snow flurries for a few days now. Very pretty to look at, and not accumulating on the ground. Unfortunately, the temperatures to go along with them are much colder than I was prepared for yesterday. I wore layers, a long-sleeve Tshirt with both a sweatshirt and light jacket. Not warm enough, and the cotton work gloves I grabbed were not much use at all. Before I go out today, I need to find my regular winter driving gloves.

Yesterday's errands included shopping for groceries with extras to stock the pantry for winter. I've been trying to pick up a few extras every week so we will have food in the house in case of a blizzard or power outage.

I usually enjoy going to Aldi because the store has a good vibe going in it. However, apparently Wednesday is not a good day to go there for a quick stop. Their ad comes out on Wednesdays so I guess that's when they have the biggest crowd. Yesterday's shopping took 4 times as long as usual. Oh, hmm, maybe some of the people were planning ahead for Thanksgiving? I wasn't considering that in my schedule, but I guess 'tis the season ...

Today so far I have done:

* finished putting away pantry items
* bookkeeping for sewing group
* emails for sewing group
* emails for library group
* scrubbed the shower stall
* scrubbed the under side of the washer lid
* put the shower curtains and bath mat in the washer with cleaning rags
* FB entries for library group
* checked family FB pages
* cuop
* checked 2 favorite blogs

Still to do:
* Figure out how many emergency prep meals I can make with what we have in the cupboards now.
* Decide how many emergency prep meals we will need stored for the winter.
* Go to the library and take down the Lego display creations from last month.
* DH's laundry.

Had a good walk. It took 26 minutes to walk the 1.5 miles so that's a good speed. Was walking with mid-size backpack containing grocery flyers, folding luggage cart and an extra cloth grocery bag.

Had a good lunch with my friend.

Walked back to the closest grocery store and did the shopping. Got the loss leader prices from all stores since this store price-matches. Carried home: 2 single-serving chicken pot pies, bread, two sweet peppers, half pound of mushrooms, broccoli, cole slaw, 10 lbs of potatoes and 3 lbs of onions. The potatoes and onions went into the backpack which attached to the folding cart and I hauled it beside me. The remainder went in the grocery bag which I carried over my shoulder. That saved me having dh meet me to help carry. It worked fine so I know I can do that again when there isn't snow (slush would wreck the wheels.) We have a big wheel cart for snow unless we just skip buying heavy stuff when on foot in the winter.

The weather is just at freezing so it was a nice walk in both directions. I'm at 8K for the day but need about 13K for me to start catching up to where I want to be. I figure 13K today, 12K tomorrow and 11.5 K for Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully, I can pull that off.

IKWYM, LadyM, about having people in the house, too... and it would make me uncomfortable, too, but what Harmony said should make you feel better. I guess most people would be a little hesitant about appearing "nosy" or something. Dbil kept talking about having an (on site) auction of the stuff no one in the family wants at dmil's house, and dh said he didn't like that either, b/c ds/ddil will be living there afterwards and keeping a lot of the stuff, and he didn't want people "traipsing through" and everything. I still don't know what we are going to do when the time (finally) comes and dbil gets his act together to make progress with this.

Anyway, I can't complain too much about someone making no progress. I have been living like I'm on vacation this entire week. If I were tracking my days it would be like this: Sleep/Do Nothing/Sleep/Do Nothing/Help dh transfer one of his "favorites" from aol to chrome/Sleep/Do Nothing... * sheesh *

Today I've had a couple of phone calls from dmom's church secretary, trying to get in touch w/dmom, but apparently dmom DID show up and met her painter there. Dmom's 2nd house (my dgrandmother's house) is next door to the church, and she had a painter coming from about 40 miles away today, and she had said she would leave the key at the church. Well. The painter showed up before dmom got there w/the key. Then the secretary called back b/c dmom forgot to give them her cell phone number, and dmom wanted the church custodian/our cousin's dh, to call her -- b/c she needs him to do some electrical work.
I told them it won't do any good to have her cell phone number b/c she never turns it on or checks it, apparently. She has not returned my calls in two days. And she knows I can't call her house b/c she still has no phone service there since the gas company cut the lines. * sheesh *

Last night ds/ddil/dgs went out to see her -- haven't seen her in over two weeks, and every time I talk to her she says she wants them to come out so she can get a picture of dgs in his Halloween costume. I know I told her they would probably come last night b/c ds would be out of town this weekend...
Well, she wasn't home when they got there, and when ds finally got her to answer her cell phone, she said last night was not a good time (she didn't know they were already there) and that they would do it another time. * sheesh again * * sigh *
I told ds at least they had tried.
She has all these big plans -- she wanted to make homemade chilli for them and all this Halloween tradition stuff she used to do when ds was little... but then she doesn't even CALL ds to make firm plans and when he calls her, it's not a good night. I don't know -- maybe she was going to choir practice last night, which would be a good excuse, but ds didn't mention it.
It just aggravates and frustrates me to no end.

BookSaver, I think I really AM hiding from the cold. It does NOT make me want to keep moving, it makes me want to hibernate. I still have on my housecoat. It's in the 30s here. Boy... I'm glad we almost never have severe weather lasting more than a day or two. It will definitely fall our lot to get food to dmom, too, if the roads are bad, and we aren't super prepared ourselves. At least ds now has the 4-wheel drive truck.

Snow for Nancy, too? Brrrr... I'd be right there with those chickens, huddled up by the dryer vent! Our dog used to like to lie under the dryer vent, too.

Hmmm... LadyM, maybe the trunk of the car would be a good place to stash some items, such as cash, during the day?

Oh my... (((LadyM))) -- just saw where you mentioned loss of 6800 jobs in the area! That happened here -- probably more like 4000 jobs? Might not have been that many... but it certainly seems to have hurt the real estate market in the nearest town, where my uncle is trying to sell my grandparents' house. Of course, the main part of this house is probably also 60 years old, and it was not in a prime real estate market to begin with. Duncle says he may have a buyer. She couldn't get an FHA loan, w/out duncle having to (in his words) "rebuild that house in order to sell it" -- but she said she understood and is trying to get another kind of loan, that won't have such strict requirements for the house on it. I know duncle will feel like a huge weight is off his shoulders when the house is sold, and I certainly hope this new development doesn't slow y'all down too much!
Dgrandparents' house has two bedrooms, one very large, and a fairly large kitchen, dining, living room, and den. But it has only one teeny tiny bathroom. Also, the yard is sorta cluttered w/four outbuildings -- one which is probably very useful, but two which are probably more eyesores than anything else.

Three hours online and the house has its first showing. Realtor just called to tell us to put dogs up and be out in 1.5 hours. And so the process of having strangers in our home begins......

LadyM, the last 2 houses we sold, we were already out and had repainted, worked on the flooring, all those things and then showed it. We had nothing in there but some guest towels and soap, entry mats, etc. The house before that we were still in. In all the houses we had to encourage the viewers to look in cupboards. In the last house I used to pop open the closet doors just a couple inches myself. The house we were still in the same thing happened. We didn't have a lot of stuff anywhere because we were newly married. No electronics, money, Rxs to hide!

It will be interesting to read what your experience is. I hope the job situation does not extend things for you. Maybe someone will buy your house and add on and remodel it themselves. Wouldn't that be nice?
