Who can you be friendly toward today? Think I should be very 'friendly' to dh since he is my bestest friend!

Slept well till 2:30 and then barely after that.

Well, Kathryn's suitcase was on the bed last night. I trust she got it unpacked so she could go to bed. MINE needs to go on the bed to spur me into packing for our cruise. I have hardly done anything toward getting ready to go. Do have one bin that we've dropped odds and ends into that need to be packed. (so I wouldn't forget).

Dd was happy this morning as dsonil had $300 more in his paycheck this week. He got a raise plus is being paid for the distance from Tampa to Plant City since he's checking that plant each day. Not sure how long that will continue.

See the Buffalo Bills game has been moved to Detroit I think. Still doesn't negate the necessity of emptying all that snow from their stadium. Temp is supposed to go to 60 this weekend up there. That presents a whole new problem of roofs collapsing, etc. They have so many feet of snow in all that area. Know dniece's house has a small pathway out the back door for their dog. So many houses they are unable to even get out a door. Wonder what all those people have done with their pets. Know one couple whose gutters ripped off because of the weight of the snow. They'll certainly set all kinds of records this year!! Our area up home was getting it yesterday but not where dsons are (at least I don't think so). Most of it was falling just south of the thruway, which is about 1/2 mile north of where we live all summer.

Quite the controversy going on among the residents of our campground. Everyone got their electric bills yesterday and were in "electric" shock. Dh warned some as he chatted with them that the rate was going up considerably. Of course now they're mostly thinking the dcampowner is getting 'rich' off these bills. Quite not the case. He's completely at the mercy of the electric company and the rate they charged (which is commercial and not residential). Went up about 7-cents a kilowatt hour. Of course a lot of people use their electric pretty recklessly. To say they're up in arms is quite the least. Dh tried to explain on our camp's site on FB what goes into the process of building each bill. Sure they don't believe him that they are only charged what the server charges the campground. Sure this is going to go around for most of the winter. We pay a $95 deposit in the spring. Ours was $869 after that, but that also included our septic tank pump out. But then our neighbor ended up paying $2.25 after that $95 so she was quite happy.

I'll be friendly to dsis and the nurses and aides at her nursing home. Will be away from home probably 10-12 hours, with about 8 of it driving.

Long day yesterday - not in a great mood about some temple stuff and dmom and dbro and ddogs making me crazy last night when I tried to finally sit down at the end of the day...it always looks better in the morning, tho.

Have to get ready and get out of here....

I've been traveling so have a weak grip on the day of the week. Dee saying she was heading for church threw me for a moment!

Friday. It is Friday.

I'm up.

Suitcases are emptied. Bedroom isn't tidied yet.

We have an 'apartment leaving' list and that hasn't be reversed. So, for instance, my computer was not charging all night because the power bar on my desk was shut off. The things I trip over, I've taken care of (plugging in the kettle, for example) but things that aren't obvious will only get done when I look at the list. Looking over at the TV, there are no lights there so I must hit that power bar too.

This is the first day we've looked out over the city when there's snow. It is really pretty!

The apartment is much colder, though, now that temp is below freezing. About 4 degrees cooler. And the draft off the windows by my desk may be a problem.

At the book launch last night the author asked if we would host a party at our place and we've agreed. We don't have many friends here who would be interested in such a party but the apartment is a great venue to host a book reading so we'll see what we can set up.

It is 9 a.m. and I'm still working on tea and chocolate. 'Slow moving' sounds too fast a descriptor for me this morning. Snail's pace is more accurate.

Edited to add: ds just called (answering the phone was hard because so many of the phones are unplugged!) and has booked me for lunch before choir practice. So my day is now full. Must get moving.

Good Morning!

One year ago today, this village virtually held hands with us when we went to court about LO. Our lawyer had tried to prepare us for LO being taken, she thought it was a real possibility. We were willing to become foster parents if the court put LO into that system. However, one year ago today we found out the court wasn't going to remove LO but instead put him permanently into our guardianship in prep for adoption. Reading through my journal notes from last year makes everything I do today seem easy.

I'm giving myself "permission" to be a slug for an hour or so. This morning is the last time in the near future that I can claim as my own. I should be utilizing this time to the max, but instead am just going to b-r-e-a-t-h-e and be grateful for the opportunity to have a break. This afternoon I will be volunteering at LO school then attending a school event.

I'm both excited and dreading this coming week. Tomorrow will be similar to Twins drive today. We will spend 8 hours driving in order to spend 4 hours playing/visiting with DSon/DDIL/DD and DGChildren. We will load up DGD3 things and bring her home with us for a week.

LM: When I was looking at LO's bedroom in the real estate photos, I thought of how it looked when I was there, just over a year ago, with the decals not permanently affixed because his future was not fixed. This year's Thanksgiving has many joys for your family. Some things are still in flux but much has been resolved and you are moving on with your life instead of in a holding pattern. Praises be.

I'm s2s and have eaten breakfast. First load of laundry is up, second is in the washer and almost ready to be flipped.

I need to practice the alto lines now.

Harriet: Thanks for the keyboard link earlier this week. I've added that to my music links folder. It helped but only a little because I'm so slow at hitting the keys with the pointer. Still, if I need a single note or to hear an interval, it will be a big help while I'm traveling.

I have done hen chores. Breakfast is done. I am getting a plan for the day. I need to round up and start some laundry this morning. I am looking forward to the next few days. We have some fun plans.

What a wonderful anniversary, LadyM!!

I'm cruising through on my short (30 minutes max) lunch break. Tutee R just left and I'm in the middle of lunch. Next departure will be in: 50 minutes.

Yesterday, I was out of the house late at 8:30 a.m. I ate lunch/did some work at home for 40 minutes from 12:20 - 1:00 pm. Then out again until 6:20 pm. Dfriends S and R arrived for dinner at 6:35 and left again around 8:15 pm. SO. . .. that made for a very long day. Dh got back into town yesterday afternoon. He went to his office, came home around 6 pm, and cooked as I had told him we could have S and R over only if he cooked. I knew I wouldn't have the bandwidth.

After S and R left, I got one part of one set of final exams graded last night. Each final exam has 2 parts. I have 3 more parts to grade, including the writing part students will do today. All grades are due at midnight tonight.

Another busy day today, out of the house for about 6 hours and tutoring one student in my home for another hour. Fortunately, I prepped for class today yesterday. . . . .

I also need to read a chapter and prep for meeting with my mentee tomorrow afternoon. . . It never ends. Once I'm through some commitment/meeting/teaching, there's another on the horizon. It's all good - just neverending, it seems. I do get a bit of a break next week. Then, I'm back at the school and up to teach SS again on Dec. 7.

Hi everyone!

I bought a planner a few weeks ago to help remind me of things I need to do and when. (Mike was a heck of a nag about every last detail in my life that I didn't need one with him...) I marked down an appointment for today, but forgot to write the time. Um, the appointment was for 1 o'clock. I got there at 11. Good thing I can go home and go back later.

Weather, news and traffic update in the Niagara peninsula. We don't have very much snow compared to Buffalo, but it's very cold. Traffic is fine, roads are clear. No news other than the weather.

If I go out on our balcony and turn to look to my right, I can see Lake Ontario. If I turn and look to the left, I see the Niagara escarpment and right now all of the trees are bare.

I've been away from the boards because of back-to-back dental appts for HRH yesterday and today, since we decided I'd ride along to other side of Big City. There is some puzzlement about what some tooth pain means right now. He was fully prepared for them to say root canal, but they did not. Not ruling it out for the future, though.

I was friendly to staff at dentist. And I encouraged HRH to be friendlier to motorists who make ... um.... snap decisions.

I missed being able to tell ta-dahs.
A big one was that we had yet another trunkload of clothing come in our direction, to help family members trying to deal with closets of those who have passed. I sorted all of it yesterday and there are 3 items our household can use, plus a few helpful hangars, and the nice buttons from one tossable garment. That's it to keep, from a trunkload. But the important thing was that I sorted for donate-ability, which seemed so hard for others. So we have one tall-kitchen-garbage-bag for donation, one tall-kitchen-garbage-bag to toss. Finished, done, and everyone can move on.

BookSaver, HRH was quite concerned about your driveway incident yesterday. He says he would have felt kidnapped! Lots of "what ifs".

We were both impressed to hear that Dee's namesake is working at the stadium.

Cathy, I have to learn and relearn a planner every time. I don't ever seem to get the habit ingrained. It may be because I always see it as a bit of a duplication, either of cards or calendar (and sometimes health journal pages). But it would help me if I'd be more consistent with it.
