Saturday Back on Track

Post by BookSaver »

Good morning, villagers ~
I've been out of the house a lot the past few days, and need to start catching up on the chore cards that I've been skipping.

Take a look at your calendar for holiday activities. What can you do this weekend that will keep you on track for being able to enjoy whatever you have scheduled for the rest of the year with family and friends?

Do you already have a plan, or do you need to take some time now to sit down and think about it?

Thank you to everyone who commented on my situation Wednesday afternoon with the truck & trailer that was parked across my driveway and blocking me in. You have reassured me that I did not over-react by asking them to move long enough to let my car out of my garage.

Looking back, I'm sure the reason for their attitude was that they were under a lot of pressure and stress working in the sudden, unseasonably cold weather -- plus they knew that they had made a really stupid mistake that could have gotten them into a lot of trouble. That made them defensive.

They were in fact lucky that, although I don't always take the time to read the minutes of the city council meetings, I did happen to see recently where they mentioned that the cable company would be working around Tiny Town. When the man and woman said they couldn't move the trailer because they were in the middle of running lines, I figured they were part of that project.

Although now that I think about it, both their truck and trailer were plain white with no company ID whatsoever ... who knows what they were really doing, and maybe I should start wearing a tinfoil hat? ;)

CI:
* Thursday night's sewing group meeting was really long, but everyone was in "play nice" mode.

* Thursday afternoon, I went to WM and bought canned food and pantry staples that I knew wouldn't freeze being left in the car for several hours. Now our supplies are in good shape if we have bad weather and don't want to leave the house.

* Yesterday I had a really fun day at a sewing class. I hadn't scheduled it until last minute, but I received an email from the fabric store Wednesday saying that there was room in the class because 2 people had to cancel. I called Thursday afternoon to see if I could still sign up, and they said yes and told me what tools I needed to bring. The class went from 9:30 to 4:00 so I was away all day. I'll tell more about it in AC&N thread.

* My oldest DSis called last night, the one in the nursing home. She sounded wonderful. She said she knows she'll see us Thursday with the rest of the family, but she had a bunch of extra minutes on her cell phone and wanted to chat a bit without the chaos of the big crowd. It was so good to hear her sounding cheerful telling me how much she likes her roommate and the place where she's staying.

So much time away from home means that I have a lot of chores to catch up this weekend. Dishes are soaking in the sink. I'm heating leftovers to eat for breakfast, and wating for the coffee to be ready.

Hey, there's the beep that says the coffee is done, hooray! *\o/* :D

Good morning, Booksaver -and all the rest of you who meander through today. I'm home alone for a bit. Dh and dd (and I'm not sure if dsonil went or not) have gone to school to work on the Christmas float. Supposedly she has a bunch of helpers coming in at 9 o'clock. Hope they do. There's just too much to do for 2 or 3 people.

My 'back on track' today had better be getting our clothes, etc around to pack. My first job will be to try on some clothes before I get dressed for the day. Know I have to hem at least 2 pair of slacks and the sleeves on a jacket I bought yesterday. Been waiting for the last minute (sort of) to do a lol so I have enough unmentionables to last through next weekend. If worse comes to worse I can go buy a new packet -which I've been meaning to do anyway. Just don't want to go shopping today. Especially on Saturday!

I've taken my meds and that's as far as I've gotten. Have to put up meds for dh and me for at least the next week or so and get those packed. Have the next 2 or 3 days in individual containers already.

Okay, into the shower and then to try on clothes -I hate that chore.

I've been out of the house this past week a lot too, Booksaver, so this is very apropos for me. I do have some commitments today I need to keep, but I also do have time today to get caught up on some things. I averaged 8 hours out of the house per day last week. That does include a groc. store run. Fortunately, not every week is like that.

I can't tell you all how much I am looking forward to a break next week! We're not having any guests for Thanksgiving. It will just be our own little family. And Tori dog. I very much need a quiet few days. It will be fun to have ds20 and dd19 home.

So far today:
- up! I slept a little over 8 hours
- fed g. pigs
- fed cat
- water for dogs
- let dogs out; let dogs in, repeat. . .
- replied to social email from dfriend B
- mug of tea

ToDos:
- a.m. routine
- laundry catch up
- read chapter in book for mentee meeting
- prep for mentee meeting
- exercise: gym; renew membership
- meet with mentee 1:30 - 3:00 with a plan to end at 3:00. . .
- groc. store run
- tend our hens who have been neglected recently
- change g. pig cage
- shop for S's bday, which we're celebrating tomorrow night
- catch up on some emails: moms group, dsil in UK, dfriends in Cali
- grade finals and post grades -- this is due at midnight tonight, not last night. :)

Next:
- s2s and self care
- QT
- read book chapter

I think dh is going for his long run as he does every Saturday a.m. 8 miles last week. . . . Well, actually he is debating that at the moment. The temps are balmy for him - 32*. He doesn't let weather keep him away, unless it is raining or snowing hard.

Ugh! Tried on lots of clothes. Some I just didn't like how they fit (10 lbs lighter would make a significant difference). But I also found 2 capri pant suits in the back of my closet that both fit and look good -AND I've not worn them before. Quite suitable for cruising. Dh will think I've bought several new things. Well, some but not that many. Have to get a tan light jacket out to see if it just needs pressing. I washed it some time ago and it shrunk some but it's never been ironed and continues to hang un-used.

Going to throw in a lol and get started with my day. Have at least s2s, meds, bed made and breakfast done. Now am sipping coffee and doing my PODA on here.

I am slow moving this morning, but need to have dMacs at PT in a little less than an hour.

I got in just before 10 p.m. last night - very heavy Friday traffic and an accident that backed traffic up for miles were contributory. I also stopped off for a 30 min walk at an outlet mall, and also shopped for some "party" clothes at a different outlet mall earlier in the day. (DH has put two or three holiday parties on our calendar in the last few days, and with my weight trending up I'm very nervous.)

I've been mostly out of the house since mid day on Thursday so I'll try to rest and regroup some today. DH will be at an event until around 3:30 this afternoon. This evening we are invited for dinner at friends - I need to make an appetizer of some kind to take.

Need to get organized and head out with ddog soon.

Dee, I resemble this remark!

Mornng y'all....

I need to take care of the furniture scattered around the house. I have some scratch removed I want to use.

We are going out today with friends to a new place to all of us. This husband is the one that was stuck in bagdad a while back so we expect this to be a lively and interesting evening. The restaurant has great reviews. The owner/chief is from England and the food and atmosphere is identical to an English pub. I see lamb in my future.

Off to start my day before I get sucked in by the computer gremlins. Have seen Lawrence's camels in a while. Hope they're not missing me too much

Waving to y'all.. Have fun today

I have been home this week and working on keeping up with my routines. Today I need the kitchen to be back on track after pumpkin prep. It is cooling now and time to peel it before bagging it up for the freezer. To stay on track I need to shift stuff around in the fridge and make room for the turkey to thaw so I need to be careful when I shop for parashables. I want jello for lunches this week so I will get stuff for that and relish plate.

Time to pay attn to dailies.
Did get to floors this week so that helped!

ToddlerN maternial side is gluten intolerant so some cookies I bagged up went home with her to her dad's they were surprised.

I'm actually up and here but not exactly at-it.

My bed needs to be stripped and remade. Being away 4 nights messed with routines.

So the bedroom is still a mess. The dishwasher is emptied, though, and dh and I walked to the store for staples.

I have to bake squares today and had no butter. Will look at my recipes and cupboards and see what I'll make for tomorrow (there's a tea after the covenanting service for the new minister in the afternoon and I'm doing set-up and bringing squares.)

Tomorrow is busy. I need to swim, then church, then set up the Christmas decorations since the following week is the Christmas Carols and Desserts concert, then eat some lunch, head over to the sister church and do setup for the tea, then sing in the covenanting service.)

Choir practice is at 1 so I need to get a move on and do something plus have my lunch and boil some water to take with us for hot water to sip on. Dh is coming with me to this practice even though he won't be at the concert next week. We will be recycling the pieces as anthems throughout Advent so he needs to learn them.

Good Afternoon! "Back on Track" sounds good to me today. Yesterday I was a bit under the weather with tummy troubles and mostly took the day off to rest. I am back on track today, though. Sweeping, mopping, swishing and swiping are finished. I have a lol in the washer now and will start another when the first is in the dryer. I've sent dh to the store with a grocery list. We saw turkeys on sale for 53c per pound and decided to get one to have for whatever. We are going to go to dfam#1 for Thanksgiving. Ddil/ds#2 haven't said anything, but I thought they might be going north to visit ddil's parents as they have for a couple of years now. I'm not sure if they will be here tomorrow either.

BookSaver, sounds like a very relaxing meeting yesterday.

Dee, I'm with you....I don't like trying on clothes either; not happy when I have to shop for clothes - especially shoes! One of my extra projects has been to clean out closet and drawers, which I have put off for a while. Now with the change in weather I feel more motivated to put summer wardrobe away and get out the warmer tops and sweaters. I may just start that this week!

Washer should be done now so I can start the 2nd lol. And I want to sweep the driveway and carport before dh comes home. Hello to everyone and enjoy your day!
