Saturday Back on Track

Thank you for helping get back on track.. its perfect for me today. (I don't know if any of you ever received Pam and Peggy's Keeping on Track Newsletter years ago.. sometimes I wish I hadn't given them away - they were rather fun.)

Home from choir. Dropped by the general store and picked up bread and tinned milk. I bought bread at the grocery store this morning but it was 'fake whole wheat disguised as white' and tasted awful so I bought the whole wheat dh will eat (he's the fussy one, I like my whole wheat to be whole grain and crunchy.) I'll use up the yucky stuff when I make dressing and croutons.

We cleaned out the car when we got home since it had rained a bit on the way so the car was wet. We keep an old towel in the parking spot and used a squeegee to wipe off the excess and then I dried off the rest. It didn't work well and the car probably looks dirtier now. Sigh. We need to wash it. Next week will be warm so I'll do it then.

The towel will be fine for cleaning the salt off the headlights and clearing the back-up camera lense but we can't do 'lick and a promise' on the car in the parking spot.

We also cleaned out the inside of the car so it is neat and tidy again. I don't let it get too messy but things get out of place from time to time. I keep a brush and dustpan plus an inside duster in the car so I can keep it swept out. Sometimes when I'm waiting for someone, I'll take advantage of the time and tidy and sweep it.

Dd just called and she and dsil will be here for an hour or so starting around 6:15. They are going to a late dinner somewhere in this area but the location hasn't been decided upon yet so they are waiting here to be close-by when the decision is made.

Next up: start making soup and baking for tomorrow (and possibly next week at the same time so I don't have to bake again during the week.)

DH took master bathroom rugs to the washer, I washed them, he dried them, swept the bathroom floor and mopped it, too. He deserves a gold medal!

I made a poster for my office wall, cleaned the desktop last night, and today I've been rearranging some things in my office. I have a short story to log from an outline, but my lumbar, sacrum, hurt a lot today. I have a lumbar pillow, but still- sitting to log a long short story (Isn't that redundant?) hurts my back, although I use a timer and take breaks. Am thinking about doing it on Monday instead.

The sun's shining here today, I had a short 40-minute nap on the sofa, and received 2 letters in one today. My pen pal wrote, her down's syndrome DD wrote, and I give the DD gifts, stickers, and things. She's a real sweetheart and sure enough to brighten up anybody's day, too. ♥

I made potato leek soup again to use up the leeks and dh enjoyed it again. I'll probably take some for lunch tomorrow at the church.

Ended up making some chocolate peanut butter squares and some rice krispie squares. I was tired and shooting for easy but I have peanut butter to use up so couldn't stick with the traditional recipes.

I'm very tired so will head off to bed now.

We had chinese for dinner first time in ages I did okay on guessing carbs for that too yea! This cold is kicking my fanny.
Got groc. Put away. Hens are fed and put in for the night.

Hi everyone! I have not gotten much work done today, but have had a good time. First order of business was cat adoption clinic. We have 5 new kittens, which were attracting a lot of attention, but people were also looking at Briggs. On seeing him with a lot of other cats, it is clear how unusual he looks. His head, his general build, eyes, all just a little off. The vet said he has the head structure and face of a bobcat, and last night I looked at pictures of them. I have two pages of thumbnail size photos of bobcats that look like Briggs! Harmony asked Monday if bobcats ever breed with domestics and the answer is yes in general, and quite possibly yes in Briggs' lineage. His temperament has remained that of a committed pacifist, and he purred at everyone who petted him, so his unusual looks will probably just make him easier to place. We place a cat who has been hard to place due to eye problems. Surgery corrected the main problem, but he still squints (likely out of habit), and he does need meds.

After my shift at the clinic, I had lunch with a friend, then did a fast drive by to the knit/crochet group to deliver some yarn.

I will be by myself this Thanksgiving, but will cook a traditional meal and freeze the leftovers. I will also eat off of Grandmother's china. I will have turkey lunches at work for quite a while, but I love 'em! I need to figure out if I have all the supplies. I know I have a turkey breast.

I still need to do Bible study for tomorrow, catboxes and food refills. This evening I have been mostly helping DD12 organize Pokémon cards. She has one that is in Japanese and I have promised to send a copy of it to my aunt who is a native speaker.

Long day with dgs today -- lots of fun, but exhausting. His mommy and daddy (and granddaddy!) are on their way home now. And we finally won a football game again, so that's good. And scored 100 points in a basketball game (last night) for the first time in YEARS... so I have a happy crew coming in tonight.

Talked to dmom for an hour... of nothing... and she's telling me that a dfriend of hers wants to "fix her up" with another mutual friend, a guy who (possibly? I'm not sure) has never married (?) I'm not sure. But he has an excellent reputation, dmom knows him from high school... but I'm thinking, "Good gracious... she'll break her date the first time they make plans to go anywhere... and if they ever do make it to dinner together, she'll talk his ears off." Maybe it is just a generational thing w/me and dmom, and maybe she doesn't have the same effect on her peers that she does w/dbro and me. * sigh *
Oh -- btw -- dmom made it plain to me AND to her dfriend that she NEVER plans to marry again, and her physical state is such that she would never maintain normal "marital relations" if she did. I hate discussing s e x with dmom.

Also talked to dcousin, got plans firmed up for Thanksgiving meal... dh will not be too pleased that we are expected to be there at noon, with plans to eat at 1:00... but dcousin is right -- if she told us to be there at 1:00, we wouldn't eat till 2:00... so, whatever. And of course, she was just like daunt -- that would be just fine to invite dbil... so I guess I have to do that... * sheesh * Me and my big mouth. But I know I would NOT feel right about myself if I didn't make the effort and dbil spent the entire day alone, the first Thanksgiving without his dmom. * another sigh *

Okay... dgs is pulling pulling pulling me away from the computer... must go again... just wanted to ci and say HELLO to everyone!
