The Trend on Tuesday
It's the trend that counts!
What's trending at your household?
How can you start a trend you like in your life?
Is there a trend that really needs to fizzle out and become passé?
Be a trend-setter today!

Re: The Trend on Tuesday
Good morning, villagers ~
Thanks for opening the thread today, Harriet.
We are at the beginning of a Warming Trend. The radio dj just announced forecast for today's high 30F, and getting warmer for the next few days.
I have a meeting at the library when they open at 8:30. I need to finish my breakfast in a hurry so I'll have time to s2s.

Re: The Trend on Tuesday
No trend in our weather. cold today and snow tonight (the apartment feels much colder already) but tomorrow it will rise to well over freezing and the snow will melt.
I'm still battling with mini lights so I guess that's a trend!
And the apartment is still a mess but much better than yesterday so I shall endeavor to make tidying a trend.
I woke up moments before the click of the light this morning. That was exactly 8 hours of rest. Another excellent sleep record last night even though I did have to get up once (I drank a quart of water from 8:20 to 9:20 so that's not unexpected!)
My knee was iffy this morning as was the same foot. But it seems to be working itself out. I have put my gel packs back in the fridge and will ice and do physio again tonight. I couldn't do two of my exercises last night because the pain was too much so I might do an extra round at some point today.
It is 8:20 and I still haven't decided what to do about swimming/aquafit. I basically have all day to decide (I need to be here at 3 to start dinner but aside from that I don't have any plans today.)

Re: The Trend on Tuesday
Good morning! The paperwork avalanche was so bad around here that even DH was trying to straighten up. We had much throw-away. I never throw away papers that have scribbled notes on them because that is how he operates. He will put something really important on a scrap and then it lays around... so he went through lots of legal pads with me. I took stacks from yesterday and corralled into folders in their proper place.
I had to laugh as he showed me the kitchen table, still with multiple loose piles. He was so proud of what he'd accomplished. I've been hunting a small bin or nice-looking box or something to put hanging files in to sit on the table there for him. He comes in with stuff from church and youth group he wants to save and that is what's laying all over. If we had some way of organizing this it would be one box instead of piles.
Everybody does things electronically these days. So paper "supplies" are hard to find. I've been unable to find just the right thing for this for weeks. If it was me, I'd chuck it all!
We need to go around today and take some pictures and get some permissions. We need to take some pictures around here. I will have to declutter spots before we take the pictures. I'd like to look at the Christmas decorations too but this has to be done first.
I think I'll go walk first before I get started with something else.

Re: The Trend on Tuesday
Morning y'all...
I'm off and running today. I have a few things I need to do outside the house and then I want to come home and work on my "picture book" that I am making for my mom's xmas present. These are photos that I have taken over the year. She has everything she really needs so I try to find things that she will enjoy.
My mom loves to grow plants and flowers so this year I am sending here these spectacular Papillio Amaryllis to grow. They are pin-striped, orchid-shaped, white with red stripe blooms. I gave her fleece pj's last year, which she loves because my mom is always cold, so I have another pair for her this year.
Yesterday I received a $226 check in the mail claiming it was a refund for some surgery I had. The date was 11-17-14 which really puzzled me since I know I haven't had any procedures done recently. Called the company thinking the check might be a scam, and it turned out the money was for a refund for a procedure I had done in 08-12.
Seems they were cleaning out their books and came across this missing refund.
So its a MERRY XMAS to me.....
Lucylee...seems like you have most of your Xmas shopping done. Your DH sounds a lot like mine...Mine doesn't want much, but last year I surprised him with a table saw that turned out to be a hit.
I have no decorations up so far this year, but think I will keep it simple this time. My neighbors are out decorating their yards as well. I'm not ever going to join that competition. However I am glad that others like to do it so I can enjoy their Christmas spirit.
Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go, the day is slipping away.
Waving to y'all. Cya later....enjoy your day.

Re: The Trend on Tuesday
I recently set up a portable file system with hanging folder for DH to use in storage of church papers. The box was under $10 at Wal*Mart.
I love our family doctor! I called this morning and they immediately responded. Doc sent order in for DH to have xray so they can confirm the presence of kidney stone. DH has appt tomorrow morning to discuss next step. The urologist from yesterday still hasn't called. I detest being lied to.
I ordered a "leaf" type TV antenna to try at Birthday House. I'm not sure what we will end up using for TV reception but I thought this was worth a try. We are not moving our TV tower or antenna. I really don't want to return to $100+ monthly bill for cable which has continual ads showing that are offensive to me. If the leaf antenna doesn't work then we will have to move on to Plan B.....C.....D....
After spending 37 minutes on hold I was finally able to get gas utility into our name effective tomorrow. I could hear a roar of conversation in the background. They must route all the non-emergency calls to a central location.
Early this morning I made a list of people that we will be buying Christmas gifts. I started with the Grandkids & Great Grandkids. I stared at the list for some time because I was only coming up with 5 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Who was I missing? How could I possible forget one of our 6 Grandchildren?!?!?!?!!! I was starting to panic and had the thought run through my mind that this was a sign of dementia/alzheimer's starting. THEN it finally hit me. I had left LO off the Grandchild list. I had mentally put LO in our children category instead of grandchild category. Strange. I'm not sure what I think of that.

Re: The Trend on Tuesday
Harmony ~ how about something like this?
Iris(R) Clear Open Top File Storage
http://www.amazon.com/Iris-Clear-Open-F ... Q4H7GJ8M3W
I found something similar at the dollar store, of all places -- back in their kitchen section with other plastic storage bins, but it is definitely a file box because it has the ridges at the top for hanging file folders. I like it because it's translucent, and it's a thin one rather than the full banker's box size.
I personally wouldn't buy this particular one at Amazon because I'm frugal about ordering things that qualify for free shipping -- but it looks like it has some good ratings if you don't have the time to look around and just want to get something asap. I also saw what this iris brand calls a "scrapbooking" box that looks interesting, with a lid that has extra storage for small tools like pens and scissors.
The one I have is steri lite brand and I got it at the dollar general.

Re: The Trend on Tuesday
I slept until about 2:30/3:00 and was awake for a couple of hours, slept till 6:45 when dh got up. Immediately went back to sleep until 8:29
Guess I needed it. Felt bad dh didn't get to go walking -though he could have gone without me. After getting ready we took dsonil's PT to turn it in at the dealer's for their trade-in. From there went to dbil/dsil. Took a large container from S am's of Peanut butter pretzels to dbil. Took dh to dd's school after that to work on the Christmas float. It's raining some, so not sure what they'll get done. And me? I'm back home, peeking in here.
I, like LadyM, am going to make a Christmas list. And I may even end up staring at it for a while myself.
DD had thought about buying something like an Ipad for gd16, but asked her foster Mom first. Answer -"NO". She's on electronics restriction. But somehow has figured out how to get around some things and was texting some of her friends. Consequently she has more and more blocks on any electronics she may end up using. Her foster Dad has access to all their girls' computer programs and can easily see what they're doing. She's good at maneuvering around restrictions and rules. Hopefully she'll still have time to 'get it' before she gets out of school. We plan to buy her a rolling duffel bag for their trip to Germany. That'll be it for her. Then we have all the kids and grandkids, great grandkids up north. Want to start a good list. Also have to get Christmas cards and get going on those.
Off to perpetrate some l&&ts and then on to dishes. Also need to finish up the council minutes and get them sent off by tomorrow or Thursday morning. Sooner the better.
Oh how I 'resemble that statement', Harmony. Dh was great for doing that to me all the time. I don't think he's quite so bad now. In fact he often calls me to give me info to write down and I usually can put it in the calendar.I never throw away papers that have scribbled notes on them because that is how he operates
