Wednesday PWYC Power

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

Community empowers its members. There is strength in numbers, BUT even individuals are often stronger when they are part of a community than when they are not.

The community provides focus, encouragement, wisdom, assistance, shares burdens and, this community especially, values you for who you are and loves you.

So use the power of the SHE Village to get you through hump day Wednesday.

If you are off running errands or attending endless events, remember we are cheering you on.

If you are home with a mountain of laundry, paperwork, housework to do, let us know your plan and progress through the day.

Together let's make a powerful difference to our families and IRL communities today!

Love this title, Kathryn! :D Though I'm suffering from lack of sleep, I now feel quite empowered!

Was awake for about 3 hours during the night, trying to get back to sleep. Was sleeping very nicely when dh's fire tones went off (they are notified by text of all calls so he still gets those down here -and he likes staying informed). I could have almost cried when I awoke albeit 6:15. Know I could have slept soundly for another hour. So, very nicely, asked dh if we could possibly plug his phone in the office to charge overnight. He just chuckled but agreed we could do that. It's not like he's going to get in the car and go and the messages will still be there when he gets up in the morning. Not that I'm asleep every time it goes off, but I sure hated having my sleep cut short today. Now I'm trying to be very congenial. :x Did go out to tell him to just take the car -he has to go to school to help with the float. All I'd do would probably be to take him, drop him off, come home and go back to get him. I'll enjoy a day home when I need to go NOwhere!

I'm s2s, meds done & bed made. Now for breakfast and a cup of coffee. I shall return. Off to be powerful in my day.

Good morning!

It is hard to believe that Christmas Eve is just 3 weeks away. Dm will be here in 9 days. When she leaves, it will be 1 week until Christmas Eve. I would like to have my shopping done before she gets here but I need ideas for those gifts.

I finished decorating the tree on Sunday evening. I still need to get the other decorations out. I think I will stay home today and work on that. I do need to shower and do hair, etc. before I start. I have not received the insurance packet of info that was suppose to be mailed last Wednesday. I called and it was mailed Monday. If it doesn't show up today, I will need to go to the insurance office and get copies of everything. I need to know that I do have insurance.

Dh is 19 days away from retirement. He decided just before New Year's, last year that he was retiring at the end of this year. It has seemed to fly by.

Better hit it..............

Good morning, villagers ~
Kathryn ~ Thank you for the thoughtful and thought-provoking opening to the thread.

I was out of the house a lot longer than I had planned yesterday, but I get to stay home today. I think I'll do something for supper that needs long cooking time -- bean soup or some such. I have a few loads of laundry to do, and will declutter an out-of-control cupboard in the kitchen.

Last night I watched the Charlie Brown Christmas. I haven't seen that show for many years. My favorite scene is still all the kids dancing before the play rehearsal. They are each doing their own personal choreography with such energy. And of course Schroeder makes that tiny toy piano sound so good!

Love the community theme today! So positive - and yes, empowering.

I am up, have had my bfast, fed g. pigs, said good bye to dd16, emailed with mentee, called dental office - and am now heading to the shower. My dental appt. this a.m. is not at 10 a.m. as the email reminder said but at 9:40 as I had originally written down -- for X rays. I'm glad I called!

I did spend a little time this a.m. making a li$t of December goals - and boy, was that motivating. I can't have any more leisurely days as I had yesterday.

I am on an opposite schedule to Booksaver. I was home all day yesterday and I'll be out and about a fair bit today.

Next for me:
- s2s and self-care
- as much of the a.m. routine as I can get done before I leave in 40 minutes
- out to (1) dentist (2) campus store for gift for dbro. (3) TJ - coffee for moms group (4) pet store next door for g. pig supplies

Later, I really need to hit the gym. And work on my SS lesson.

And.....did you realize that the Charlie Brown movie was first presented in 1965 -that makes it's 50th anniversary next year. Now how DID that happen? That was just about the time our eldest was allowed to stay up past 8 o'clock to watch specials. :?

Dh has left for school. I'm busily trying to make a new 'chart' on here for dailies and things I have to get done over the next month. I know December will fly and annual reports will be upon me. We made the deadline for reports on January 5th. There will always be some stragglers, but that's okay -at least I'll have time for those. The last 2 years we made the deadline much later and that really crunched things for me and for the secretary.

Time to dig in here while I have time to myself. Ahhhh.....bliss! And I have this community to spur me on!

I had a rough night.

The major snowstorm created a large number of new noises. We can hear plows for a much farther distance and the traffic sounded different. The storm is from the east so the wind was whistling in the bedroom. And I was worried about ds's car. I didn't know where he had parked it and if it would get towed because it was on the road blocking the snow plows.

I still managed 75% sleep quality even though was woken through the night when ds was up at 4. But he's asleep again.

Today, despite the snow, I want to move a number of things over to ds's apartment while I have him to help me with the carrying.

<This sat here because ds got up again and we made a big breakfast for him.>

I'm done breakfast, s2s, and have tidied my room and the kitchen.

Lilac: HUSH! I can't bear to look more than a week ahead at this point! (Thanks for the warning. Twins has even less time!)

Now to put the boy to work and we'll put up the winter paintings and take down the autumn paintings.

Morning y'all...

I am up and most of my morning routines are done. Sweetie is still sleeping...he was up for a while in the middle of the night....so I can't get to the laundry that needs to be done.

My day as sort of changed courses. I planned to work on a picture book last night only to discover the the cd with the pictures on it seems to be blank. Fortunately I make hard copies of all my pictures so I spent most of the evening recreating what I need.

I've decided to keep Xmas decorations simple this year. I have two trees and will put the smaller 4' one up. Need a table to put it on as the one I've used in the past has died. All I want is a simple cardboard round drape table that was all the craze years ago. Though it would be easy to find...not. Finally have one waiting for me at W mart for a mere $9.12. My kind of deal.

While at the store, I will scan my pictures to a new cd so I can upload them once I get home.

We are expecting rain today...It certainly looks like it will happen. I hate driving on the roads when it rains because the roads are slick with oil...in other parts of the country the rain washes the oil off the roads so there isn't much build up...and people are unaccustomed to driving on it. Many drive with no though of speed or consequences. UGH...

Dee.. I am not a big Charlie Brown fan, but I am of Peter Pan. Can't wait to see tomorrow's live show. I know the words to all the songs and will sing along for sure

I am off. Need to finish my coffee, get dressed and start my day. Waving to y'all. Enjoy your day and hope you have a good one.

BTW...I have the address to send a recovering soldier a xmas card if anyone wants it. I am sending out 10 this season. Hope to bring a soldier a unexpected Xmas smile.

While talking to dm this am, she mentioned that she wanted to find an alternate bus depot. She had planned to go to the big city where her db lives and he would take her to the bus depot. He is into hunting season and will have to make a special trip home to get her to the bus depot. So while on the computer, while talking to her I was looking. Somehow I ended up agreeing to an online vault storage trial. Grrrr I have managed to stop the storage and stop the automatic backup. It is a 10 day trial, so I hope this will be the end of it. Dh will be so happy with me over this, NOT. I know there is no alternative bus depot because this bus line only goes east and west. The one she was thinking of only goes north and south. I should have just let her find that out for herself, even though I had told her what I thought was and IS correct.

Other than that mess, the only other thing that I have accomplished is making myself an eye appointment. I am way overdue but my long, longtime eye dr. retired and moved away. I just kept putting it off. I am going in the afternoon before my appointment to pick out frames. I hate trying to pick out frames with dilated eyes.

I had made an appt. for a haircut next week. I am going to cancel it and reschedule it for after the first of the year. Since I am growing it out, the sides are finally below my earlobes. When she cuts it, she cuts the back short as possible and still tries to layer the back. I want some length to the back through the holidays. It grows so quickly because of the 4-6 week trims, but until it does, I want to put a sack over my head.

Since I have accomplished zilch around the house, I have decided not to do hair and makeup unless that paperwork doesn't come and I need to go to the insurance office.

I have to get busy and I am dragging my feet.....................
