My usual Friday morning activities - getting the house ready for the cleaning lady with a little extra clean up and decluttering. Expecting a house guest for the weekend also.

Morning y'all...

I'm up early enjoying my coffee and quiet time. Hard to get up when it's dark outside and the bed is warm. My house is in good order and no footprints to remove. Looks like Lawrence's camels want to visit, but I am about to shoo them away.

No one is up including the pups. Soon as I know I'm not waking anyone I will start with the tree. My "friend" stopped by her inlaws yesterday after her dd's dr appointment so we reschedule for this morning.

I need to call the place that sweetie, my son and his gf along with me watched the AL football game last week. It seems that college and university alumni now gather at sports bars to "watch" their teams play football on tv'so. These are call "watch games" We had a blasted doing it. AL plays for the SEC championship tomorrow.

When I mentioned to sweetie I wanted to watch the game tomorrow he suggested we go do so at the sports bar. The bar is in down town phoenix abt. 40 minute drive from here. Then he asked me to order matching AL t-shirts so we could wear them to the game Geesh, who is this guy If you knew this guy you would know how out of character this is for him to do. The shirts arrived yesterday, so this morning I will wash them and then let them air dry.

And we have a very special evening planned for tonight . Norma and Mr. Guy will be coming over. We haven't seen them since they left last April so it's happy reunion night. Wish y'all could come visit. We have the best time together with lots of love and laughs. Y'all would love these two

Just realized I'm frittering away the morning.

I think we have Dec. 23 set as our Christmas. Dh and I are singing in the afternoon so will go with simple frozen stuffed turkey. I'm hoping dd can be here at the apartment while I'm out so anything that needs doing gets done while I'm gone. Ds is restarting nights (he has the previous night off but works the previous day) so will need sleep at some point, we'll figure that out. Haven't heard from dd yet.

Working on figuring out some Italian Christmas Carols. Dsil (being Italian/Canadian) only remembers one from childhood so I've emailed his mother and will see what his grandmother (our target demographic) remembers.

Aside from that, I've done nothing except make the bed.

Good morning all.

I was able to get the two HUGE lasagnas done yesterday - but not without some drama. I worked most of the morning getting the ingredients ready and then started to assemble them. Opening the last can of pasta sauce, I turned to put it in the pan and the toe of my ortho boot caught and down I went. The can of pasta sauce went all over me, the floor, the cabinet and poor Dakota. The two carpenters putting trim on the outside of the door came running and the young one thought the sauce was blood, but was still quite calm. I had them call DH to get the dog in the shower before she started to shake the sauce off. Then they helped me up.

I bruised my knees pretty badly and jarred my back and neck. DH helped wipe up the sauce while I iced my body a bit. Then we worked together and finished the lasagna and put them in the freezer in the garage. I wasn't much good for anything after that - just changing ice packs on different owie places.

I have PT and a few errands this morning and then have to bake cookies for church fellowship. We might have a funeral luncheon, too, as one of our members died yesterday.

Off to breakfast and a shower now.

I just talked to dm and she has decided to drive, instead of taking the bus. I thought it had been decided that she would no longer drive the 300+ miles out here, by herself. She is 77, but that is not the issue. The issue is she has had a retina detach several times and her vision out of that eye is less than perfect. She checked the long range forecast and the weather should be fine, according to her, through the 18th and she plans to leave the 17th.

Dh is at the dr. I need to get a shower so that I can buy groceries. So I better get started.

Oh no MT, I am so sorry you got hurt and then dealing with pasta sauce mess afterwards. Those all over the place messes are maddening to deal with. I had one last week with melted Crisco. I just wanted to kick myself but couldn't figure out how to do it effectively.

I have raked leaves. 2nd load of laundry is going. Swept and moped. Now I need to pay attn. To kitchen counters. Make bed.

A funny yesterday dgson was sliding on the floor on his belly he was so excited to be here made me smile.

Nancy, I love reading about your DGKids and the Toddler and all the things you do with them. They are so lucky to have you.

MT, that is awful, but I am glad you didn't break anything. My, you've had a lot going on recently. I hope you feel better.

Slept in a bit. I was tired, up in the evening yesterday doing more work. But I got bank statement reconciled and a bit of filing. A couple phone calls.

So, now I've let Carmen in and we put on our fruit hats... and we've been in cleaning mode. Just getting started. I cleared the vanity of everything (DH, ya know ) and I have bucket ready. Sheets are washed. Next load of bath mats ready to put in. There's a mountain of work ahead of me. I will get done what I can before DH gets here. We need to finish those pictures today.

I'm glad the carpenters were there, MT! And good thinking about getting Dakota into a 'safe' place to shake. My first reaction was "what fun the dog will have licking off the sauce!"

Tree and lights are up. I have a wide foyer that opens leads into the living room. I've put the tree at the corner between the living room and foyer. The tree is missing a bottom branch so wraps around the corner a bit. It can be glimpsed at from the front door, the chairs in the dining room without a view, and fully seen in the living room but doesn't block any chair from seeing the TV (a problem at the house.)

Next, I'm putting up the tinsel garland on it and then declaring it done for now. It is up about 10 days early but I wanted everything up. I'm going to declare a 'Pizza dinner/tree trimming/watch "Bernard & the Genie" Night' and whatever kids show up will get to enjoy that time. Trimming the tree will only take minutes since the big stuff (positioning, lights and garland) will be done.

Smoke and a chemical smell today is being offset by dining room patio door open and the heat on in the living room and dining room. Other doors are shut so that those rooms can stay warm/cool (I think the heaters are more than compensating for the open door.) Since every room has its own thermostat, each room can be heated/cooled independently which is a good thing.

I've listened to TSO's Christmas Eve and Other Stories. Will switch to watching tv now while I continue to work.
