Checking in after a couple of days away.

Thursday night's library meeting went very well, except that we were supposed to be planning the Fancy Nancy Tea Party but one of the key committee members was absent. That meant scheduling another meeting on the morning of the 15th -- and who needs an extra meeting before Christmas?!

After the meeting, I drove a few miles up the road to see part of a Christmas light display that is programmed to music. This is the 3rd or 4th year that the people have done this huge display. They run it every night during the month of the December, with the full cooperation and support of all of their neighbors on their culdesac. It's very impressive.

Friday I was supposed to be working on tax reporting forms for the library group, but ended up doing stuff for the sewing group instead. It has been a very rough year with the sewing group; the new president did not work well with others and we lost some good volunteers because of her. I very reluctantly agreed to serve as Treasurer again next year, because we'll have a different president but the old one will will still be on the board at least temporarily. We'll see how it goes. The incoming president has been on the board this year, too, and is very aware of how much work needs to be done to mend fences.

Yesterday I went to a branch of The Big City Library to sew for charity. The room was really nice and we had a good group. We were making school uniform shirts for children in Haiti who must have a uniform before they are allowed to go to school. The organizer said that in some places, a family will have only 1 uniform for 2 or 3 children, so they have to share it and alternate which days they can go to school.

It was a fun day but exhausting, so I was glad that DH wanted to go out for pizza last night. We took the newspaper with us and also chatted with the restaurant owner and the cook, and it was very relaxing.

After pizza we stopped at the Tiny Town grocery store to pick up the requested items for the food drive at work. We paid more than if we'd gone to WM or Aldi, but saved a lot of time and gas.

Must cuop and make plans for this week. But first, more coffee!

I woke up 3 hours ago and haven't done anything yet but I am okay with that.

Got the hens fed h. Was a sweetie and surprised me by turned up the heat turned on the hens light and started the coffee when I got up after sleeping in. I mentioned I wanted one of the vests construction people wear for work after dark for my eatrly or late or foggy walking times. H got us each one yesterday!

I am great bs was #92 today yea! I have meal plans for the week.
I love heating about the Fancy Nancy tea party & I want one! Must do that this next year.

Up and about here. Our house guest left just before 9 a.m. - a very pleasant young man and he may stay with us again in February. Dh has gone to a federation event and should be back around noon. Between now and then I need to get cleaned up and dressed and walk the ddogs. We are thinking of making a drive to outlet mall about an hour from here or a different one further away near Atlanta. Not because I want to shop but dh does.

Just a quick C. I. here!
Woke up at 4:40 a.m., but slept good, hard, and sound, so don't feel tired. Wrote a letter to a very good friend, ate breakfast, etc... DH is watching sports shows, sports talk shows, and is getting ready to watch the Seahawks play today, too.

I want to strip the bed sheets, wash them and get them back on the bed again.

I'd love to crochet today, too, and I want to read, too. I try to take Sundays off, because it's the way I was raised. Mom took us to church, or we rode with other people to get to church, and then we had Sunday dinner, visited people or went on a drive. It was a day of rest, rewinding, and it was enjoyable. I don't care to walk on Sundays, too. But Sundays are a special day to me, with special memories. They're enjoyable and nice.

Bitter sweet day here. One of my seniors died this morning. She was also a member of our sister church so I was told by my minister who had just received the news after the service at that church. Her sister could not be contacted because she was at church and so they got ahold of her power of attorney (the accountant) who drove over to tell her in person while she was with friends during coffee hour.

We visited the sister after our service. And my senior friend as well since they live in the same building. Just getting to lunch now.

The deceased was an angel so I am sad but glad she died in her sleep without suffering. She was in church last week so this is unexpected.

Had a little one join me in the choir loft this morning. I am glad she wanted to be a part of the service. Even if she can't read! We only require enthusiasm!!

Christmas day dinner will be at CMs. That was decided during coffee hour! She wanted to come to my place but was overruled by the boys and it makes sense that they want to stay home with their presents. I am bringing tortiere. And as many of my kids I have around.

Quiet day in our neighborhood today.

I slept well too, FF -actually until 5:10 am, but was awake from then on. Did snooze a little while after I read this afternoon. Dh and I were in charge of lighting the Advent wreath today -with me doing the readings and leading the singing while dh lit the first and second candles. DD, dh and I then went to lunch at S eastern U -there's a great buffet there on Sundays. Guess we all ate our fill as we were all pretty sleepy.

But, we all woke up when ddil#2 sent a video of dgs2 with his 'new' fire truck bed. He was cleaning all the lights and tires, etc. Someone had dropped it off for him -that's how they get a good many of the things this child has. It'll be perfect for him, transitioning from the crib. They were on their way to the fire department Christmas party. They always have a great time at that. I miss those sorts of things. That's when I find myself wishing for 'up north'. No kids here at all, especially with gd16 now living elsewhere. But that was no fun either I'm afraid.

Should get busy and DO something. After Christmas I really need to start going through all the stuff we have here and see if I can downsize more -BEFORE dd and dsonil all of a sudden decide to move. Now they're thinking more in the P lant C ity area rather than closer to Tampa -that would suit me fine. Though I keep telling them to PLEASE don't consider us in their move -though that pretty well falls on deaf ears. And truthfully I have no idea what we would do instead. But I do have faith that it will all work out so will choose to NOT worry about it. They both have their criteria and I'm afraid they don't necessarily meet. There's certain types of neighborhoods neither wants to be in and dsonil is dead set against anything that smacks of an HOA or deed restricted, etc, etc. Lots of things to consider and I would doubt anything will happen for at least a year. Who knows................ But I don't want to get a call after we go north saying they're moving. I'd really feel we needed to get back down here.

Booksaver, Thank you for your SWEET opening to our day, here, too. I loved it. ♥

It's still foggy here, but it's lifting, ever so slightly. Some days, it doesn't lift until 4 p.m.! Hoping it lifts before them, but the weather person states, we might not see any sun breaks.

Back home now.

Could only remember 3 of the 4 items I needed at the hardware store but remembered the fourth (bungee cords) while singing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (there were carolers who wandered into the store while I was there.) Picked up touch up paint while I was there so ended up with 4 items (their suction cups were $1.50 each which is the same price as the ones I have from Walmart.)

I received a strange email from the minister at lunch saying he had ducked out of coffee hour early and was at the airport flying home but would be back late tonight. I was worried his mother had taken ill but it turns out it is Family Christmas for them (and the 5th anniversary of his father's death.)

I updated him with my visitation with the sister and to offer our help however is needed. The sister wants the service at the funeral home because she's afraid no-one will be there. I'm not convinced that will be the case. The deceased was a high functioning 'slow' person (mental age of about 11) but had lots of friends. She was great at writing cards, knitting gifts or buying things for the babies in the church, making sure we were aware of prayer needs of others and all sorts of activities that make me think she was an angel. The sister also has lots of friends and is wicked fun to be with (dh and I were going to go to Vegas with her.)

Dh and I are friends with both but not because they are sisters, just because we like both in their own way. I think the church family will be there for both. But I may be wrong and see the world in ideal terms. Still, I know the deceased would prefer to have the funeral at church. Her husband's funeral 5 years ago was packed (he was also high functioning but 'slow' and only worked as a newspaper delivery person.)

I picked up some HGP food and lots of butter so I can start my baking now. I'll also have to do squares for the funeral.

I need to come up with something for dinner as well. My tummy is upset from my chili at lunch so I'd like something light but dh is fine so I should cook something more substantial. Ds will likely show up at dinner time too.
