Re: Monday Marching Orders
I think I just made a big mistake. While talking to dm, I mentioned Santa bringing a puppy to dd2s house. She asked if it was going to be an indoor dog and when I said yes, she made this disgusted shivering noise and proceeded to talk about how much she hated an indoor dog. BUT dd1 has 4 that's FOUR indoor dogs and that is just fine. I just hate the double standard my dm uses between my 2 dd's. Dd2 is so loving towards her, it's a wonder the way dm treats her. Dm will tell dd1 that she looks so cute, but never compliments dd2 on anything. I just hope she keeps her mouth shut about the puppy. I knew the minute it was out of my mouth, that she might use that to ruin the surprise and play dumb while she is at it.
Haven't heard from dd2 yet, so I don't know if she stayed home with the girls or her dh did. All I know is that I have too much to do this week, to be babysitting.
I made an eye appointment for Thursday morning. I plan on going in Wednesday afternoon and picking out frames. It is too hard to pick out frames with dilated eyes, so that is why I'm picking them out ahead of time.
Well I better get a shower and get with it........
Hope you all have a great day!
I am thinking that the next time we hear from LadyMaverick, she will be able to tell us that she is moved in and on to getting ready for Christmas. I am hoping she will have firm offers on the other house and MPB.

Re: Monday Marching Orders
I wanted to post this video to start your Monday morning with a smile and a good laugh.
Those of you who have visited my fb page have already enjoyed it. I didn't want to post it last week because I wanted to share it with Mr. Guy and Norma when they ate dinner with us. If you can get Mr. Guy and Sweetie to laugh, you're doing well. I KNEW Norma would find this funny and she did.
I love this woman...the story IS true and in case you can't understand her southern draw....she calls her husband Left Brain for the obvious reasons.
Take the time to watch it and enjoy.

Re: Monday Marching Orders
I give up. I was trying to say last night that the person I refer to as "my senior friend" was not the person who died but left out the NOT.
I've lost a friend and parishioner but not someone I was close to.
My minister friend wrote back a long note. He was trying to fit Tuesday night into his schedule but then I realized I'm out at Presbytery so I had to cancel! Sigh. He sounds like he could use a hug (a cousin he's close to died) but we'll see each other when we see each other. At least we've caught up on our news. It is his youngest son's birthday today so I wished him a happy birthing day and then explained what it meant. He's having breakfast at his ex-wife's house so that's HUGE progress. He also used her name in the email. For over 2 years he would not say her name so I can see he's healing.
I'm not making progress today at all. Don't know why.
I did read a chapter of the book and respond to two emails. I have 4 chapters to go and I'll be done! Yay for not having to renew the book again. And my Presbytery meeting tomorrow is near the library so I can combine errands.

Re: Monday Marching Orders
d lilac it's so hard when that happens.
I hope you don't mind but I have added my own experience...just ignore it - I just found it this helped me
my d mom was the same way and I used to have to keep her in line regarding our dd's. For a long time my youngest was the the one that could do no wrong and my d mom couldn't see that my oldest was just like her. Now I have to be careful because d mom is starting to switch things up because dd older has helped her and is an adult, also dd younger is spending money on college (spending money always makes my d mom critical)
- I think it's okay to tell her the puppy is a surprise) -
Also it's more than okay to tell your dmom, when the girls aren't around, that she is no longer allowed to back one daughter and not the other. I won't allow that anymore - and I have no problem calling my d mom on it when she does that to my girls.
I found having a boundary of not allowing my d mom to be negative or disrespectful has helped a lot with their relationships with grandma as well as mine with my dmom. My d mom did baulk at first and made the stand-by statement "I guess I can't say anything" and "I guess I just want talk". And sometimes I HAVE to say.. no you can't say that. At first it was hard but now I internally smile because I understand what she is doing. I know she really really cares. d mom, now, has a much better relationship with dd older and tries hard to limit her comments. Plus I no longer allow any comments about my dd's to me unless they are of true concern or something positive.
Christmas is hard time to set the boundaries but you can tell d mom your dd is doing just fine and change the subject.
Once she realizes there isn't an audience - I found they back off. If I am in a conversation with d mom and d girls and a comment is made -I immediately say that the dd that is talked about makes great decisions and will know that will work for them or I say something positive about what they are choosing to do while looking at those daughters (they know I have their back).. if it continues I will directly say something in a kind but direct way or change the subject. We have often used the old standby - we can agree to disagree and that everyone does things that they enjoy. D mom has made huge huge headway in understanding her actions and our expectations. And now the girls will even ask her opinion but keep true to what they want. It really helped us. It didn't happen over night but it is much much better now.
I pray she will stay quiet about the puppy. If she doesn't stop this behavior - you can let her know that you will need to limit your time with her until her behavior changes. It was really hard for me but I now have a really wonderful relationship with my mom and I no longer feel bad telling her that certain things are not allowed in a respectful way.

Re: Monday Marching Orders
Hi everyone! I am still pounding my head against DAX at payroll. It just doesn't like my column definitions (probably a user error). Sunday was a pretty good day with DD12. We went to church, lunch (where we bought a dessert for the potluck), festival of trees, and church dessert potluck and carol sing. After she left, I typed up the animal org minutes and collected paperwork for my refinance. I made absolutely no progress on Christmas plan/organize/budget/order. I must do that before I get stuck with express shipping!
Friday, I started a new crochet project that must be finished and ready to wear on Friday. Friday, for those of you who don't know, is National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. Mine will be HIDEOUS!!! Assuming I finish it that is. I need to get eight large squares done, then assembled. Looking at my commute schedule, it should be doable, EXCEPT that I have a meeting on Wednesday that will require me to drive instead of take the train. Tonight, I really need to work on Christmas. Tuesday is Girls' Night Out (ends at 8pm). Wednesday is animal org meeting (usually long, often ends around 9pm). Thursday is another night with DD (also ends at 8). YIKES!!! I really should get the sweater done, because I suggested the office celebrate the occasion. I may be doing some late nighters with my crochet hook. I do have about 4.5 hours of guaranteed commute/crochet time. YIKES!!!
Sunny: I will get the doctor to send something to HR. It shouldn't be a problem, just another thing to remember. It would be even better if I never need the surgery, but there are already twinges.
lilac: What a great idea about selecting frames before dilation. Why didn't I think of that?

Re: Monday Marching Orders
Hello, villagers ~
My post this morning didn't go through but luckily I had saved it in notepad so I'll just update it.
For some reason, yesterday at lunch I was convinced that we only have 1 more weekend before Christmas, and it was causing some stress because the holiday season is zooming by way too fast again. I finally realized last night that we have 2 weekends left, so that feels better.
I put chicken breasts in the crock pot this morning. I usually buy the smaller frozen chicken tenders but this time at Sam's I bought the less expensive breasts to try. Since they are frozen and rather large, I thought I'd better start them early by themselves to make sure they will be cooked by supper time. An hour ago I added rice, onions, mushrooms, and cream soup. Now I can forget the crock for the rest of the day.
I'm going to work on the corporate tax forms for the library group this afternoon. They are due in a week. I will see how far I get on them this afternoon. I'm waiting for info from someone else, but I'll only give them until tomorrow morning. Reality Check: If it's going to take longer than 8 hours spread between today and tomorrow, then I will apply for an extension.

Re: Monday Marching Orders
I think that my marching orders for today must have been lost or misdirected. You hear a lot about that in military circles - was reading a biography of "Stonewall" Jackson last night and the courier delivering a court martialed soldier's reprieve got drunk and didn't deliver it, and the soldier was shot or hung, can't remember which. Anyway, might explain what happened to my marching orders, LOL?
Oy, I guess I should get busy somehow.
I have been out of the house and am dressed - I took meds to dh at his office - but ddogs aren't walked and haven't done much of anything productive. I have looked at some genealogy info online and decided to sign up for a very basic online course - probably too basic but we'll see if there are things I've missed by figuring it out on my own along the way.
Email from temple about noisy old lady wanting to perhaps meddle in things that aren't her biz. Expressed my opinion.
-walk the dogs
-two dreaded phone calls
-another phone call re: needed meds for me
-sort and start a load of laundry
-empty dishwasher and reload
Bookie, I'm impressed you are tackling the 990 form yourself. It's a bugger but you may be doing a simplified form.

Re: Monday Marching Orders
Swinging back through. Boy, am I yawning and losing my mojo. Might get a cup of tea.
done:
- a.m. routine, minus emptying and reloading dw
- tidied cedar chest in MBR
- washed a load of sheets; load of whites need to be put in dryer
- menu plan and groc. list
- lunch #1 - apple and 1/2 a wrap so I wouldn't be hungry at the groc. store.
- groc. store
- gassed van
- everything put away
- had some soup for lunch #2
Dd16 came home from school early b/c she's not feeing super great. She wasn't feeling great yesterday either. Also, her oboe is having an issue and she can't play it so she figured there was no point in going to band. She's going to take it to the technician in town at 6:30.
Next:
- make cup of tea
- let ds know I found a laundry basket full of his clothes in the laundry room here.
- go to the library and Target
