DBlessed, keep in mind, this is just my humble opinion, but I think your dd2 needs to concentrate on healing and her therapy. This affects her entire life. Once she is better, she can return to college, graduate and start her career, with her health issue under control. Again, IMHO.
Yes, dNancy, you are smart not to take on an extra child with special needs. As a diabetic you have to take care of yourself first.

Re: Toot your horn Thursday
Good morning, villagers ~
DMom's gift finally arrived yesterday, several days after it was scheduled for delivery. This is the first time I've ever had that happen from that ariver place y'all were talking about recently. I kept checking the tracking page and the order seemed to be stalled in Kansas City for a long time.
Yesterday at LEGO Club we only had 3 kids again, although they were a different 3 kids from last month. I have agreed to continue volunteering for the club through June but if attendance doesn't pick up, I don't think they will let us keep going after that.
This afternoon I need to go to The Big City to buy groceries and supplies. I would really like to avoid all stores next week, so this morning I'm working on a comprehensive shopping list. Will need to think up something different for supper, as what I had originally planned will be too labor-intensive to do after errands.
DH just found out that he has to work on the 24th after all. He had asked for a vacation day since he has lots built up, but his department is too busy for him to take that day off as well as Christmas Day & the 26th. I had hoped to be able to go up to the family party early, but oh well. As long as he doesn't have to work late that day, we will still be on time for the pot luck supper.

Re: Toot your horn Thursday
Hmmm.... it is 11:15. I just finished eating breakfast. Doesn't sound like I have much to toot my horn about BUT
Christmas Day Service is finished! Sermon written, directions for set up notes (and a box found to pack things in) and it is printed off. Will have to print off song sheets (just 2 hymns - I'm given a total of 13 hymns to choose from for the Christmas season, over 3 books - so finally realized I could spend the 20 pieces of paper and choose whatever hymns I wanted!)
Dec. 21st service is done except for the sermon. That both counts as a lot and a little! But given how fast the Christmas Day service came together once inspiration hit, I'm counting on the same for this Sunday's service.
I'm going to go visit my colourist now. That will get me clean and not as grey looking. Tonight we are out to the theatre so I'll look my best.
Not sure what we are doing for dinner. We'll either go early and eat downtown (but what?) or eat something here.

Happy Birthday Elyphant. Did I spell your name right?
Nothing much to report yet. Frustrating morning. It's amazing when things are going ok with the business here how much better my days go. DH is out pulling weeds. I know he is not happy. He has said if he can't work out this last batch of problems maybe he needs to fold up and quit. I've never heard him say that. I just want him to make that decision on his own, and not because he was forced to give up work. He'll never be happy if he's forced.
I have laundry going. After I hang that up I think I'll go out and run some errands, get a couple gifts. Need to go to that zoo we call post office and get post card stamps for DH. He tried the other day but couldn't even get near the self-serve machine and gave up when he saw the line to the counter. I have more patience than him. I can do it!
Going to try to keep busy today, try to work through this stress.
Nancy, good decision!

Re: Toot your horn Thursday
Hey, thanks for the b-day wishes! I am in awe of all you sweet ladies.
Our plans to have b-day lunch at R ed Robin have been put on hold. Dh had a gout flare-up yesterday. Too much meat and especially gravy the last few weeks. A few days of salads and ibuprofen should fix him right up.
Took our one gift that had to be shipped to the post office this morning. Need to clean house one more time before DD, DS, and DDIL arrive next week. I smiled at your discussion of A-river the other day. DS ships our gifts here via them every year and we know not to open the box. I hand over the wrapping supplies when they arrive and they take care of that little chore.
BTW, I'm 57 today and thankful for every year. One thing I've learned that could have saved me all kinds of grief in my 20's and 30's...What other people think of me is none of my business!

Re: Toot your horn Thursday
My dm called and is home safe. I didn't even know she had left duncle's.
As I said yesterday dd2 and I ordered the new makeup products dm is selling. We were able to get a kit that has lots of stuff for half price. Dm had left each of us 4 main items. She was then going to remove them from the fancy little cases and send the 2 cases onto us. She had made a list saying that. I asked her if dcousin had gotten that order straightened out and she said it was correct last night and everything is ordered. She then went on to say that I need to give dd2 this one product that she had left for me. I said well then I am going to have 4 extra items since she left them here. She said "I did?' I told her yes and I would mail them to her as soon as they come and she said OK. With that I experienced what daunt had told me recently. If she is caught forgetting something important like that, she just quietly bluffs her way through it. I could have absolutely cried. We didn't have any of that while she was here, but she did repeat some things and I patiently listened to them again.
The first night dm was here, dd2 came by and she felt brushed off by dm. But dh had just given her his long password to the wifi. So she was too busy catching up with that. Dd2 was right on that dm immediately told dd1 how much she loved her hair. Later she complimented her clothes. She just never compliments dd2 on anything. Dgd3 just loved dm. For the first time in several years, she didn't annoy the 2 boys, 8 & 10. They had gotten where the mention of her, they cringed.
Db1 thinks it is silly that dm is selling the makeup. It doesn't bother me, but I hope she doesn't make costly mistakes like she did with me. Someone else might have kept the products, instead of returning them.
I need to get in the shower, so that I can wash the last 2 loads of clothes that are mine. I also need to get dgs a card.
