Finish the year up Friday
This is the last Friday of the waning year 2014. Hard to believe, I know.
What do you need to do today, and next week to end the year on a strong note?
Is it writing charitable cks or paying taxes before Jan 1?
Is it reflecting on the passing year and planning for the new?
Is it Christmas clean up or getting ready for weekend activities?

Re: Finish the year up Friday
I'm cleaning/decluttering for dcleaning lady this morning as usual for Friday a.m.
DH left early this morning on a weekend trip. Was something of a long day yesterday. We visited dmom in the afternoon and that all went well. Dbro's son and family were there and it was nice to see them. DH and dkids and I looked for somewhere to stop off for coffee or a light meal on the way home, but struck out. Dkids and dh watched a movie while I hung out with them and read. Things were going well. Later dMacs got on my last nerve with the in and out thing, then dkids started bickering, then ds came downstairs and spoke to me, then dd stormed out mad because I was listening to his grievances. So I stormed off to bed. I'm hoping for a peaceful weekend!
When I first got up this morning, looking west toward the mountain I could see the rising sun just reflecting off of windows on mountain homes like they were lit up. Once the sun was fully up, fog moved in and obscured the hill across from us and the mountains. We also had frost overnight so grass is very white and right now it all is white outside.
Going to start my list as I do the straighten up/decluttering...

Re: Finish the year up Friday
Aside from the party today and guests for dinner, I have a service and sermon to write for Sunday. Oh, and I found out I have overnight guests for New Years and am hosting that evening. To make things easier I will combine dh's birthday dinner with a new year eve dinner. And I am going to freeze one of the meat pies for midnight that night.
I am still in bed right now so I have to take that first step of the day. Poof!

Ooooh, yes. And dh's birthday is coming up also, Kathryn. We didn't all get together on what we want to do, altho he and I did discuss inviting some friends, either for dinner at home or out.

Re: Finish the year up Friday
Had odds & ends to do, Dh & dd have gone in search of wrapping paper on sale. Then we're going to Disney for lunch & the Candlelight procession. Being narrated by Blair Underwood. It's a great concert. We could have had dinner with guaranteed seating, but lunch is $20 cheaper (apiece).
Had a very nice Christmas Day. I'm wiped out so not so sure how all this walking today will go. Trying to decide whether to take our walker to help me walk the distance. Will, at least, take my cane.
Was waiting for my hair to dry. Now to get dressed and ready before the dynamic duo returns. We're actually buying an annual pass for dh at Disney today so he better USE it!
I had ordered a TV for dd's bedroom for her for Christmas. It was scanned in Orlando on Tuesday. According to the tracking it's still there. Wondering what's happened to it. If nothing happens today I will be calling UPS and then A mazon. Orlando's only 40 miles down the road for goodness sake and I'm sure they're running today.

Had a really nice time celebrating Christmas and Norma's birthday yesterday. Food and friends were great.
Came home and just relaxed. Now after I finish with my coffee it's footprints, laundry and a bit of house blessings. Oh and I need to feed my puppies
Need to stat my day... Cy'all later

Re: Finish the year up Friday
Good Morning All and a belated Merry Christmas.
It has been an busy last few days with DH getting sick on Tuesday and me trying to finish up getting ready for the weekend.
We had a pot luck on Monday night and something didn't agree with DH. He hasn't been far from the bathroom since then. Finally I was able to pick up some imodium (sp?) and things are getting a bit better.
My sister has flown in and is at my brother's house in Phoenix. #1 son and family are in the air now and will get here this afternoon. Everyone will be here by noon tomorrow.
I still have a few things to do. 1.Put away clean, folded laundry off the couch. 2. Last minute groceries . 3. make up sister's bed in den, 4. always dishes. and whatever else I find to do.
I will probably not post until Tue or Wed as my time will be limited until then. TTFN

Re: Finish the year up Friday
Oh boy, do we have 'footprints', RR. But I'm afraid they'll still be there tomorrow. Dh and dd should be coming back any time. I'm almost ready to go, but still feeling somewhat winded and wiped. Of course after not only being sick for 2 weeks, I've spent the last 2 days (or part thereof) around cigarette smoke. Can't believe how much it affects me.
Off I go for a day with the Mouse>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Re: Finish the year up Friday
It is nice to read about the up coming celebrations!
Yesterday went well. We had 26 family members here for Christmas breakfast with 11 of those being children 7 years old and under. I believe the BH additions were designed for hosting parties because it was very easy and accommodating. We had enough space/tables/chairs available for everyone to sit in the same room. The children spent most of their time in the play room which made it quieter and easier for the adults to visit.
Today DGS17 is the focus. We will shop for his Christmas gift and go on a 5 hour road trip that will give DGS17 some experience driving higher speeds (75mph). He typically only drives in town and rarely gets over 45mph and that is only for a few minutes at a time.
Today also starts DGD3 ten day stay with us. I am much more relaxed this visit since I now know how to communicate with her. But still......taking care of a 3 year old (speaking or not) is a huge focus/time/effort sucking activity. I can do this......I can....
