I am so happy you are not in pain anymore.. hope that the gait problem fixes itself soon dkathryn

d harriet.. believe it or not - I was actually working on the calendar for next years focus and adjusting to major family functions etc. I also see the error of my thinking when it come to the focus of the week - - my typical ALL or NOTHING thinking (which thanks to you et all as well as P &P I have minimized over the years). I would save big jobs for the focus week and try desperately to get a major job done. I.e. painting etc. I now realize the focus, for me, is to keep things running and not be embarrassed by my home. I always think of our D Indiana when I see the focus - I feel like she is cheering us on.

hi d twins hope your dh feels better.
, d harriet so so happy to see you!
d helia :D

the first floor is vacuumed and surface rinsed.
kitchen is clean

I have to go to the store after figuring out what else I want to make for new years day
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Errands are done. They didn't go as harmoniously as I had hoped.

Dh lost his favourite scarf last night so he went back to search the theatre. No luck. While he did that I moved the car to Wa&ma&* and returned the plastic cutlery and plates we didn't use at Christmas. Then waited for dh. We checked for snowshoes (the ones I bought dsil were too small so I had to buy larger), no luck, so headed off to dd's to check her house. Stopped for a light lunch along the way, checked her house (returning her pot that we borrowed on Christmas) and then to C&stc& by her place. Get this, it has 2 entrances but only one exit (which is a left hand turn) so police were there directing traffic plus someone further in the parking lot was directing traffic. Tempers were running very high.

We got a spot, dh did the returns (snowshoes and a blanket) and I picked up the items I could from my list and got in a long line. Dh found me and we waited together. There were no snowshoes there, nor warm gloves so I had dh drop me at the Canadian version of REI and I picked up warm gloves for both of us, shopped for snowshoes (too expensive) and then headed on to other outdoor stores. There are 4 in the neighbourhood. I skipped one (awkward to cross the street to it) and hit pay dirt at the third one. Paid $40 more than C&stc& but they are good ones and on sale for 40% off. Picked up dh a present as well and then walked home, carrying a box with 30" snowshoes in it.

I'm up to 8400 steps now for the day so will easily make my 10K.

Next up - water plants before nightfall which is moments away.

Edited to add: my new gloves worked perfectly to keep my hands warm (I wasn't swinging my arms because I was using both arms to hold the box - it was a good test.) My hat has ear flaps so my head was warm and I had my double jacket on (two jackets worn together) and my body was warm. My hiking boots kept my feet warm and my legs weren't too bad. But the last 3 blocks I was hit by the wind coming off the apartment buildings and my face was frozen (it still tingles.) I'm going to have to keep a face mask in my pocket to use on the way home each time I leave on foot.

I am burned out. I got one file completed for the year, and another log book done.

Policeman called wanting more information, so I had to stop and look up account numbers.

Went on a scavenger hunt around here for painkillers for DH. Found some left over and some stronger stuff left over from last hospital stay. He says he's drowsy now.

Going to check mail next and then take a rest. Does anybody know if the mail is going tomorrow?

done:
- switched laundry
- folded and put away load of towels
- emptied 2/3 of dw; I ran it this afternoon so we'd have room for the dinner dishes

I'm drinking a cup of tea now and chilling. I have the kitchen garbage out (it was full) but haven't taken it to the outdoor bin yet. I'll do that soon, and then check the mail.

I hope we do have mail tomorrow, Harmony. I need to get a check in the mail for more oboe reeds for dd16.

The reed maker increased her prices recently, so they're $23 each. Plus shipping. Dd16 is going through them faster now; 4 last maybe 6 weeks? Dd16's teacher has her order from this person in Ohio. Dd16 can make her own in a pinch, but the ordered ones are better as they're made by a professional oboist. Dd16's teacher also makes reeds, but she is uber-busy since she is a Univ. professor (not at the big U here, the smaller secondary U), she plays for a professional symphony, and she has private students, like dd16, as well!

And going again here. Helia, you have gotten a lot done today and I admire the way you entertain so often and so effortlessly. I'm always impressed when you suddenly have a crowd for dinner and you're not freaking out.

Next round here:
-put lasagne together
-clear away the rest of the fry pan stuff and the table from latke cooking on the back patio
-very quick s2s?
-clean stove top
-make the bed (whoops!)

Coming through....

Wavin' to y'all this afternoon.

Today has been a good one. Laundry done and put up. My all time pot roast is making my house smell wonderful and the rest of the house is in good shape.

Put up a few Xmas decorations and will do the rest tomorrow. Went to the library yesterday and then had had a reading marathon day...love it when that happens.

Now I'm about to get lost in my geneology stuff.

Its chilly here today with lows expected to be freezing in the morning. They are predicting snow in the lower elevations so that means the mountain close to my house may get a dusting. I have pulled out all my winter warm stuff and boots because if that happens I'll be up early and heading out to take pictures. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Its nice and easy around here...just the way I like it. We have a big bowl game New Years Day and Sweetie and I are planning to go downtown to a "watch" party. Last two times have been great fun and am hoping to start off the new year with lots of laughs and fun.

Happy Birthday to all and Happy Anniversary to Mt and her dh.

Cy'all later.........

Happy birthday to Mr. Twins and Mr. K in C!
Happy anniversary to Mr. And Mrs. MT!

Our to-do for the day is to make it to Tampa and REST. Neither of us slept well last night. I've driven about 3 hours and I hope dh makes it the rest of the way! DH says we must have "the flu you get if you get the flu after you took the flu shot." Not sick enough to just have stayed in bed and said, okay, we just can't do this -- but sick enough to feel pretty cruddy in the doing of it.

Continuing to keep in mind those of you who are suffering along with us.
Especially hope Harriet's green-eyed boy feels much better!

TTYL!
Tomorrow is another day.
