We love fried chicken but I have not fried chicken in over 33 years. Why? Because I hate grease splatters. Dh's oldest dsis is a wonderful cook. When we visit she always fries chicken. She has a deep cast iron skillet that she uses. Her stove is gas and I sit there and watch from a distance at the grease splattering and I just cringe. I bought dh an electric double burner for Christmas. Dm told me that they use them and electric skillets to cook outside while camping. It cuts down on the mess and it doesn't heat up the motor home/camper. Anyway dh and I decided that we can use either the double burner or the electric skillet out in the backyard and can perfect our chicken frying, with no splatters to worry about. There is nothing anal about us.
Dd2 said that both of the little girls still want to sit out this next session of dance lessons. So I won't be a "dance grandma" for awhile or ever again, depending on when their lessons are, when they restart.
The gal who cuts my hair and I have entirely different visions of what the end result will be. I wanted to grow out all layers and end up with it above shoulder level. Today she leaves the sides alone, except for barely trimming the ends. That was fine, then she put a bunch of layers in the back and cut at least an inch off of the shortest layer that I had. It looked really nice though when she styled it. I hope I can copy that to some degree.
Dh has felt blah all day. I tried to encourage him that there were several days that I felt that way. Too puny to do anything but not down and out sick either.
Dh said that when he made his retirement plans and said he wanted to spend a week doing what he wanted, stay up as late as he wanted, get up when he wanted, etc., that this isn't what he envisioned.
Tonight as I was eating, dh was eating in the basement while watching TV. On the news they were talking about the low gas prices and how it is affecting the stock market, which hurts 401ks and retirement incomes. I just gulped and tried not to panic. I really don't want to hear things like that.
Well I probably need to think about heading to bed.
