I might conga today. The apartment needs it. While it doesn't seem to get very dirty or dusty, apparently if you push the limits, dust bunnies form!

How will you be spending your day?

Oh, and another question. Do you have any recommended books to read by Desmond Tutu. He is a lecturer on our cruise and I'd like to read at least one before I go.

Hi everyone.

Discovered a massive dust bunny behind a door that never gets closed the other day. It was almost big enough to name!!

On Wednesday I gouged (?) my left index finger badly. I am way behind on the dishes now. Couldn't do Tuesday night's (they get done on Wednesday) so I have 3 nights worth of dishes to do. I might try today now that the finger seems to be somewhat healed. I immediately put pressure on the cut and raised it above my heart to try to keep it from bleeding.

I also need to put away the clean laundry.

d Cathy .. so sorry you hurt your finger so badly!!! Fast healing. (but you do have clean laundry... always a good thing!)

I found out what dh did with my clean laundry from the dryer.. he threw it on the floor of my closet because I don't want laundry in the dining.. not meanly but in his mind practical.

I have a lot I want to do today.. I shall see what the day plans for me and I hope I can get to what I plan for myself

My day holds a trip to the mini-clinic and not much else. Can't eat much so been drinking lots of hot tea. Last night Sweetie bought me some sugar free ice pops and that felt good going down my throat.

Morning routines done, doggies fed and footprints picked up. Good thing the house and laundry are up to date cause I don't see myself doing much more for the next few days...

I know lol d rose... I came into my closet and saw the laundry on the floor and when I asked he said "oh ... that's clean laundry in a matter of fact - I did this for you and hope you like it tone.

Kathryn, I would read everything I could about the upcoming book - see if anyone has reviewed it yet, that sort of thing. Read all publishers notes. Then I would read as much as I could from the 2014 book. It has been my experience that authors hope to talk about what they are excited about at the time, more than what brought attention in the past. This isn't self-serving so much as naturally wanting to express their current thoughts and talk about what is concerning them now.

We had a "Saturday kind of Friday" because it is a teacher workday. Loved the lack of an alarm for me. Tobias was appalled. Then out to pharmacy 2 for a couple things and stopped at BK for a croissant. So time to admit I hear the conga beat.

I am going to have a good day. A calm day. I am hopeful.

But don't think I'll be doing any conga around here. I got the laundry caught up yesterday mostly, and dishes done. I am feeling really weird and I'm sure it is from the antibiotic. 2 evenings in a row I had bad stomach ache. Even the medicine paper information says to beware possible intestinal infection from this...so I know Harriet is chasing me down with the probiotic! I just wasn't sure if I could take that while I was taking the antibiotic. Does the one overpower the other? I wanted to make sure the antibiotic actually worked first.

Plus I guess I will have to go out and look for one. I can't eat yogurt as it stirs up my acid and I'm not supposed to do any antacids while taking this stuff. I do have a bottle of acidophiles in the refrigerator, would that be good to start?

I've lost another 1 1/2 lbs. I guess that's good except probably it's all muscle.

Going to take it easy till DH gets back and there's another round of paper to do.

Good morning! DD12 wanted to do Chinese take out and eat at home so she could listen to more STYX. (Obviously takes after my dad, AKA world's biggest Styx fan. Seriously - framed Styx memorabilia in the kitchen type fandom.) I convinced her we should at least eat something different. After she left, I did checkbook chores and email catchup, but then got Scrabble sidetracked.

A strange thing has happened with my faucet. I was going to replace the cartridges (thank you Kathryn for the suggestion), but in the meantime had a glass under to catch the drips. There are no more drips. After I replaced the o-rings, it did drip for a day, that is why I thought it was unsuccessful, but now it seems to work. I am going to leave the glass there for a little while longer, just in case. But if it goes a week with no problems, I am going to consider it DONE.

Got two reports done at payroll, but still waiting on others before I can make more progress. (There are some things I can get done in the meantime, just not as high a priority).

Looks like the weight of the mortgage paperwork finally exceeds that of the bankers and closing should happen Monday.

Vet called while I was on the train yesterday. Mixed news. One item, UTI, is an easyfix. Beginning renal insufficiency, not so easy. She will need a prescription diet and I will have to figure out how to have 5 cats and different feeding. Once I have it figured out, I should be able to better control another foster's weight issue. She may also have intestinal issues, she has the symptoms and there were possible indicators in both blood and Xray, and it cannot be ruled out. The next recommended items for her were (1) ultrasound $500 best option, and (2) more extensive bloodwork $180 second best. I requested a trial of medication instead and we are doing this. Gulping in cats can be an abdominal pain issue. (The money would come from the organization, but I treat my fosters like I treat my own, and this is what I did with my cat with chronic intestinal hemorrhaging. The meds controlled the symptoms. The tests would have told us WHY she had problems, but not changed the treatment protocol. Of course, if the meds don't help, other options will have to be explored.) Our org medical expert suggested we consider putting this cat into 'sanctuary'. It may sound dreadful, but it is not. We do this occasionally with cats that are hard to place due to age, health, and/or temperament. The cat remains on the websites as available, and people CAN still adopt it, but is not brought to adoption clinics anymore. The cat remains in its foster house for the rest of its life, and is supported by the org. Cats consider it an improvement.

Sooo glad to hear such a great report from FF last night!

Also, in "old business" (from last night) re: pep rallies... I did want to tell y'all about the best pep rally (IMHO) that we ever had at my school. While ds was playing we had an undefeated season. First time in approx. 50 years. We invited the members of that team from the 40s to come to our pep rally and be recognized. That was really nice. I take a little bit of credit for spurring that on, b/c I was newspaper sponsor and kinda helped get the wheels in motion, I think, to get that done. That was really nice.
We also, some of y'all might remember (b/c I was in total panic about it for so long) recognized some of our oldest graduates during our school's centennial year, and they served as grand marshals for our Homecoming parade. That was nice.
I am totally all for school spirit, and I'm glad schools do pep rallies and all that stuff. I think high school is about a whole lot more than just reading, writing, and arithmetic. BUT... as for the pie in the (teacher's) face, or kissing a pig, or some of the silly things... nah... count me out. And as dh always said, (shaking HIS head) "How is seeing Mr. Jones get a pie in his face going to help us win this game tonight? "

Waiting on the bug lady to come spray. DH has EVERY SINGLE LIGHT in the house burning -- I am NOT kidding -- and EVERY SINGLE CLOSET DOOR is open... the better to find bug hiding places.
