Lucylee: I'd return them when they arrive without even trying them based on those reviews. I've bought 400+ thread count sheets and found them uncomfortable. The first two sets I bought were Egyptian Cotton and were fine. After that, the Indian cotton didn't feel as good and often they don't say. I will say the first two sets didn't last as long either so there is that to be said for thicker sheets. All felt wonderful and had good thread counts.

Egyptian cotton has longer fibres, that's why it feels more soft.

I've bought from The Bay (sort of Macy's equivalent) and Costco and had no luck at either. The first set I had were the best, they were 700 count, the second set almost as good at 400 count (and bonus, came with 4 pillow cases and were on clearance.)

The most expensive I've bought were $180 so it really feels like I'm wasting money when they don't work out. The first two sets were from clearance stores and around $120 for the first set and $80 for the second (I debated and the sales lady pointed out the pillow cases were worth $60 on their own.)
