The thing is, Kathryn, a lot of the stuff, dbil and dh need to look at together. And the kitchen just needs to be cleared out before much of anything goes on. It's right in the path to every other room, and it is just ridiculous right now. We are throwing out obvious trash though -- I mean, really obvious trash -- a cheap wooden magazine rack that was broken beyond repair, Tupperware that had melted in the microwave and would no longer seal... We have a large garbage can packed completely full right now. (The kind the county provides for us, picked up with the mechanical arm on the garbage truck -- some of you probably know exactly what I'm talking about. It is FULL.)

And of course, dfil's clothing... ds wants to make sure dbil has been through that (ties, etc, especially) before ds mixes in his own stuff and his hand-me-downs from my ddad.
(Some people might think this sounds a little morbid, but ds really enjoys having his grandfather's suits. DS is not at all concerned with whatever the current style in men's clothing is, these are all very classic/timeless cuts, and being sorta a throwback to an earlier generation anyway, ds loves being able to wear these.)

But once we/ds-ddil take on the insurance payments, then we're going to give dbil a few more weeks, maybe a month, and then ds said "That stuff is going outside to the 'boathouse' storage, and if it gets dirty, or insects/rodents get in it, well, it will be his problem. And the rest of the stuff, if he complains b/c it's gone, that will be his problem too." And ds plans to change all the locks -- just b/c there are three different keys needed at the moment, for three different doors, and it is extremely confusing.

Hello, villagers ~
Stopping by to say that I survived my first evening back on staff at the library.

Also survived this morning at the library washing and drying 70 sets of glass luncheon plates and teacups, plus some extra cups. It took over 2 1/2 hours -- partly because I had to pull them out of storage but mostly because the community room kitchen does not have a full size sink, only a teeny tiny bar sink.

I had to be to work to start training at 4PM but I had a late lunch, so did not eat supper before work. As soon as I got home shortly after 8PM, I fixed myself a snack of Nutella on toast, decaf coffee, and then mixed up a glass of Emergen-C. Seemed like every other person who came in the library tonight had sniffles or a cough. Oh, I should go grab a vitamin D while I'm thinking about vitamins.

Tonight before I go up to bed I will try to print all the placemats and pocketmods for the party. I think I can get at least some of the pocketmods folded tonight, although I'm too tired to do any cutting.

I'm sure that y'all are getting sick to death of my going on and on about this party preparation. I'm sorry, I just feel the need to document it so if the group ever wants to do this kind of event again, I can remind them that it can't all be ready in a few days. It takes weeks!

Good Thinking Thursday Evening, Villagers!

I didn't get a chance to turn on the laptop, until after dinner. It was a beautiful sunny day here, Kitty Cat saw a coyote cross our back yard area, she's an 'indoor-only' cat, b/c of coyotes and occasional cougars and dogs, which run through, from time to time. Kitty Cat did NOT like the coyote at all. I do believe she hates doves MORE though. I don't know why, but she'll growl at them, at the door window, and she hates the way they walk, how chubby and enticing they are looking at her, and she's trapped indoors. But she loves watching her outdoor world through windows.

DH went to Costco today and 2 other stores. He brought me some FILA athletic shoes, they fit, they're comfy, and I love the charcoal grey color with magenta shoe strings.

I've been catching up on emails, doing calendar reminders, and have been crocheting, doing housework (80 minutes so far!), and reading, this evening, since my book came.

Everybody have a great evening! Just a quick C. I. to say, "Hello!" and that we're doing fine. I was happy to receive a letter, from a pen pal, who was replying to my last October letter. Honestly, I thought she'd passed away or her husband died or she stopped pen palling altogether. But she's ALIVE and is doing fine! That's nice news!

lucylee, you guys are doing a great job of organizing everything for your dbil to make his choices.

Sunny, I am glad that you are slowly feeling some improvement.

Dh's dr. called yesterday with the CT scan results. He has a chronic sinus infection and an infection in the bone behind the ear. He couldn't remember what she called it. She was checking with ENT specialist to see where to go from here. We still haven't heard back from her. When I told dh's oldest dsis what was going on, she immediately said that it was the mastoid bone. 41 years ago, 2 days after she returned to work from maternity leave, she started having this ear problem. She ended up in the hospital for 6 days. Dmil was working and so was I with a 3 year old. Some how we managed to take care of dsisils newborn and 3 1/2 year old. I would have to take and pick up the 3 kids from 2 babysitters. She said the dr. told her that if she ever had that problem again that bone would need to be removed. The dr. told dh that he might need a"procedure" done, so we are wondering if that is what it is. Dd1 told me that if the ENT does recommend that, we should ask him just how often he has done that. Otherwise, we might need to see a specialist in the big city.

Today I talked to my dfriend that moved away 3 1/2 years ago. I hadn't talked to her in 6 weeks. When she lived here, we talked daily. Since she hadn't heard from me, she thought we were busy working on that bathroom. I told her about dh and that we wouldn't be tearing into any project until we know he can finish it. Right now, this ear issue is the top priority. Dh had wanted to be done with the bathroom and most of the other things by the end of April. That is going to be impossible, but everything will just have to wait. We've already lived with it over 3 years now and it will get done eventually.

Dh's youngest dsis went to stay with his oldest dsis, two weeks ago. Next week she needs to go home, so oldest dsis is taking her home. On the way, she will pick up my db's dw. They will go on Friday and spend Friday night and Saturday night, then head home on Sunday. We are planning to meet them if at all possible, for the weekend. The youngest dsis lives 3 hours from here with her dd and family. The town they live in, has a lot of antique stores, etc. We have always wanted to meet there and shop, so finally it is in the plans. Bad weather or dh's ear could alter the plans.

For the first time, we rented a R edbox movie today. We had wanted to see Fury in October but dh was having all that trouble with his ear and we didn't make it. It just came out to rent or buy.

Guess I better head to bed. I need to go to the grocery store tomorrow. Today we went to WM and bought what we needed there. Dh said that he has been to WM more since he retired than he probably has in 10 years.

Lilac, When the ear's affected, it makes life miserable. My heart goes out to you and your DH.

Once, after I'd had a sinus infection, I was getting very, very nauseous and dizzy. I went to the doctor's office, a P. A. saw me, and after he examined me, by having me lay down, focusing on a spot on the wall, he looked into my eyes. He diagnosed Labrynthitis. This was the cause of all the dizziness and the nausea. It was akin to being sea-sick on dry land. So whenever I hear how somebody's having ear problems, etc... I recall what happened to me that one time.

I hope your DH gets to feeling better real soon. Also, Happy Belated Anniversary, too. ♥ ♥

I know it is late and not many will see this, but I had to reply for Lucylee.

Lilac, I'm sorry about your DH's ear problem. I sure hope he doesn't have to have the bone removed. That sounds painful.

First, I'm up because I just wore myself out working today. Lots and lots and lots more work at my desk done. DH came in with 3 helpers who needed paid, and 2 of them were new and had to fill out all their employee paperwork. It is incredible how badly people are in need of literacy skills. I suppose it is because of the kind of work DH does. Anybody who isn't real "book" smart thinks they'll do construction instead. A simple 2 page form just stumps them and I always have to explain. Now, I know they can read and write, but geese, none of them has much understanding, and their penmanship is usually awful too.

Cooked dinner, had multi steps and cleaned up. Kitchen has been pretty much let go while we were both ill and there were a lot of places to clean. I got most of that done. But I am worn out from today and fell asleep on the couch and it was so hard to get up and come back to bed, stopping here first to shut off computer.

Lucylee, when you described the house, I was thinking about DH's job today. He just snagged this job in a hurry because we're waiting for county paperwork on other stuff...so he and 3 others went up to a VA-owned (foreclosure) house. You know how really mad people leaving a house will damage it or leave water running... well this was one like that. Standing water up a couple inches. Everything had to be removed, all the furniture, carpets, all household goods including mattresses, clothing, etc. etc. and water sucked dry. Tomorrow he will set up dehumidifiers and monitor for a few days.

The drywall in that house is all moldy, but that is another part of this ongoing job. He didn't have to touch that. They all said it was really stinky in there. He has his truck loaded with appliances... said he walked over to the guys with a casserole filled with something and told the guys, "here's lunch". Ewwww.

So, Lucylee, as much work as you say your dinlaw's house is, it could be worse!
