Re: Wednesday Wandering
Hi Everyone! It is time for a break. I was awake at 7 am but did not really get moving until almost 8:30. Had breakfast, made bed, straightened up bedroom, finished up am routine in kitchen. I wandered into my office for a major desk day. The last few weeks the mail had just been tossed onto the desk ---- bills, ads, junk mail, medical papers ---- it's all there. So now it is all separated, junk mail and ads thrown away, bills in order and recorded by date, etc. I'm now eating a turkey sandwich with coffee for lunch. Dh went to drugstore to pick up rx refills. He should be home shortly.
I watch the local news a couple of times a week and read our local town free paper to keep up with local news. So I had to go to network news to see what was mentioned here. I feel sickened by what happened. It is a good idea to now what is happening in our world, but I cannot focus on too much of it. I cannot watch tv programs such as the csi, etc. and even ncis because they are too graphic. The story lines are probably taken from real life happenings; and I wonder if it sometimes gives ideas to people who commit those crimes! Those images in my mind give me nightmares!
Dh has been going through things stored on the shelves in our laundry/utility room. He has three train sets; a Lionel he got at age 13 (1952), one we bought when our ds#1 was a toddler and an HO gauge when ds#2 was little. He has them all separated and repacked in their own cartons and will give one to each dson. We were told at one time that the original Lionel set was worth a lot, but the man didn't say exactly how much, only to never sell it! That train will go to ds#3. I know all three boys will be happy to have their trains!
Nancy, I know what you mean about the tabbed cans. I have to be careful when opening them and using a regular can opener because my thumb on the left hand is always sore.
RRose, I am impressed with how strong you are and what you can do. Good luck with your event on Saturday!
((Harmony)), the food you cooked this morning sounds delicious! Take care to rest!
Dee, I often think of the nice visit we had, especially when I see strawberries or hear the name Parkesdale!
Hello Sadie. I'm so glad you are still improving with your exercises. That is a nice thing for you and your co-workers to do to recognize your dboss's dson!
No sunshine here today; we have rain coming tonight!
I've had an extra long break so it's back to work......Afternoon greetings to all!

Headed back to dmil's...
Several conversations w dmom, no singing at church tonight...
Made my doctor's appt (follow-up from lab work) for next Thursday -- after dmom's surgery on Tuesday. Surely she won't need me 24/7 by then.
Gotta go back home -- forgot dfriend's papers that I am supposed to give to dmom later today...

Re: Wednesday Wandering
Controversial subject that I haven't heard about before..... A friend has a grandbaby due in a couple weeks. She has been told she will not be allowed in the hospital to visit grand baby unless she has vaccination. All adults that are going to be in contact with baby must have booster shots. DFriend is adamantly against vaccinations, so is now having to chose between her vaccination conviction or seeing her Grand baby.
Lunch was a success. Kitchen has been cleaned up and dishwasher is running now.
Next up = Bathroom weekly cards

Re: Wednesday Wandering
Dh finally finished his online safe driving course. It was very 'boring' and long. But at least we now get a 10% discount on our car insurance for the next 3 years.
I can't watch those kinds of shows either, Sunny. DD can but she's very good about not having them on when I'm out there -she'll DVR them and watch them when I'm not around.
Don't bang your head, LucyLee. DGS10 did bang his unintentionally yesterday -a girl tripped him on their way back from art class, he stumbled and hit the corner of a wall with his forehead. It really laid it open and ds-R left work to get him and take him to urgent care -right on the way home, luckily. Had 10 stitches in the middle of his forehead and has quite a lump. DDIL said he had a king-sized headache last night -it now has a big bandage across to keep foreigners out. He was dismayed that he couldn't go to lacrosse practice though. Not that he really felt like it. He's tough I guess. We talked to them via 'facetime' last night. The pictures on FB gave me the shudders.
Then dd had come home after a visit to the dentist. She had a tooth that was just beginning to bug her. X-rays showed infection beyond the roots of 2 teeth which are part of a bridge. They gave her a print out of the proposed treatment plan. $11,000!!
That's 2 ones, no mistake. So we've been in touch with our dentist up home to see if it's possible for her to fly up and start treatment with him. Air fare and his bills would be far less than that, I have no doubt. They have neither fax nor email so we copied everything she needs and the price list and mailed it priority today. She does have the last week of March off and then she'll be up there with me again around the first of May. Not sure that this will work out, but we're hoping.
Then dsonil came home and announced he did not get the job with C oca C ola which is real near to us. It's really been so close between him and one other guy. But the plant in Apopka has been talking to him about working there. All this then the guy he answers to in Tampa told him yesterday that he's retiring in a couple of months and they want dsonil to take this position. So who knows. We're through trying to guess "are we moving? are we not?" Partially dsonil's age is not in his favor. Think he's nearing 59. Some older than dd. Just going with the flow I guess.
We've been putting things in boxes in the office that are going north. Had dh take them all to the living room today and I've sorted them into separate boxes: Our RV, DD's RV, Dh's stuff, "Christmas in July" stuff. We'll pile them in the garage when we make a spot for them. Waiting for dd to get home and finish off a couple of boxes. I have numbered them and listed what's in each box. Will type them into the computer before I tape the index cards on. At least this way some of the things can just head to dd's instead of dh storing them in our RV. And the stuff for Christmas in July can just go to the storage unit. Don't need them till July.

Re: Wednesday Wandering
I just spent 45 minutes on the phone with dd, but it was nice we ended it with neither of us being angry or frustrated with the other.
For a change.
I got the signed cks to the other synagogue and emailed the director that they were there. After asking me last night to have them ready today, she responded to an email about a Saturday event telling me how sick she is and how she can't be there. Yet she wants the cks today? I don't get it. [/end vent}
While I was out, I dropped off clothes at cleaners, mailed a package, picked up meals at JCC and dropped off towels/sheets at animal shelter and petted the kitty cats.
OM goodness, need to go respond to Harriet's post.
-call to see if I have to report tomorrow for jury duty
-decide whether I am cooking up the chicken breasts in the refrigerator
-sync my iPad to computer and/or cloud
-respond to Harriet
-post a photo on a historic Facebook site asking for location help

Re: Wednesday Wandering
Just got rid of a few more things in the garage and dh broke down a couple of very large boxes. We cleared off the cart dd has out there and took all the boxes out (that are going north in the truck) and stacked them on the cart. Now when dh has the truck here and is getting ready to load he can just wheel out the cart. He's also taking home a good looking 'fake' palm tree with lights. DD has had it in their living room for some time but in its large planter it was leaning. So dh is going to 'plant' it on his berm and it will make a very nice addition up there.
The lights will probably stay on it.

I was beginning to wonder if the tree removal co. Behind us doing a job today would ever finish, such a racket they made. Finally it is quiet out they seems they are done.

Think tonight will be a H ungry H owies night. Wed is Wacky Wed and I think we can order from that menu. Tomorrow dd and I'll most likely have dinner at Trivia and the guys usually have P ublix fried chicken Thursday nights. Friday we're taking dbil/dsisil out for their birthdays -his is tomorrow and hers is next Monday. She, her sisters and I are going for lunch on Tuesday.

Re: Wednesday Wandering
It's been a productive day here, with LOL, DW, and cleaning, for DH and I. He ran into the store for a few minutes, I did work, and now I'm crocheting bun covers. Dsis said, since she lives in the desert SW and they sell Dreamcatchers everywhere, she'll get me on, and ship it up. I told her I'll pay for it, the box or mailer and shipping.
It's raining here, but not too heavy yet. We're expecting the Pineapple Express, from Hawaii to dump heavy rains on us this week.
Have a great afternoon and evening, Everybody!
