Chain saw going again after tree removal firewood cutting has begun. Hoping we can see fireworks from our deck again with a better view of the skyline. A other guy down the way has a tree going to be taken out for a bigger garage this summer too.

Hi everyone!

Took the day off work because my throat hurt this morning. It was very difficult to swallow and my right ear had a few shooting pains.

So I called a cab (didn't feel like I could drive the very short distance) and went to the local hospital emergency dept. 4 hours later I was out and on the way home. "Possible" Strep throat. They will call me within 48 hours to let me know.

Kathryn if you were on my F Book friends list, you would see numerous kitty cat posts. Either that of flowers. I tend to send Zy a rose post every now and again.

Well, the 2 cm (less than an inch) of snow forecast for today was at least 3" by the time I got home but probably 4" and it will continue to snow until midnight.

I left here around 11:30 and it was bad driving from the moment I left. No one was expecting it so plows weren't out. I had 2" to take off the car after my meeting (I parked under shelter for my first two stops) and then 30 minutes later had to brush the car off again when I left a store.

I had dh order pizza, I picked it up and we had an early dinner at 5:10.

We've now gone over the music.

While at lunch I got a sermon idea and the music gave me two ideas for anthems and a hymn for next week so I'm making progress on the church front.

I'm on the treadmill now since I didn't have a lot of steps while shopping. Skipped Costco because the road was in such bad shape I didn't want to be out any longer than I had to.

Tomorrow is a busy day - we have lunch and singing in the afternoon, visiting the new retirement home after singing, and then the goodbye party for dfs as he leaves on Saturday for basic training.

Well, no head banging here, except some kind of little boo-boo w/dgs -- I don't know exactly what happened... it had something to do with throwing a baseball at the Tahoe (luckily, he didn't hit it) and then when da-da & granddaddy started fussing at him, he thought it was funny and went running away from them and ran into a door.

Granddaddy probably needs more than kisses... Granddaddy did NOT intend to spend 4.5 hours at the house today... and he and ds ended up very irritated with each other... but I think they were back on peaceable terms by the time we left.
I spent my entire time sorting dmil's clothing, at least 3 closets FULL, plus some... and I think we threw away FIVE tall kitchen garbage bags full.

Dmil had extremely sensitive skin. She was adamant that she would wear NOTHING but 100% cotton, and even at that, she had a tendency to turn things inside out, cut off collars & cuffs, cut armholes larger... she was pretty dangerous with a pair of scissors around any sort of clothing, and when she realized she had cut something too much, she'd just pin it together with a clothespin. So, some things that might have been okay to give away are just beyond repair. Then there are things where the elastic has completely sprung its spring... things that are stained... just LOTS of stuff that cannot be salvaged by any means. That left me with one very full closet of clothes, 1 closet of coats, and a large plastic container of sweaters. Plus a huge pile of scarves, gloves, and maybe a dozen items that still have the tags on them.
In addition, on our next trip, we still have her dresser & lingirie chest to empty... and all her shoes. DH said tonight, "She had more shoes than Imelda Marcos."
And purses... oh my goodness, the purses.
I told ds, apparently dmil did not ALWAYS go around like a ragamuffin.

Anyway, we did spend all evening there, and we are exhausted again. DH probably did not sleep a wink last night until daylight, and then he only sorta dozed. He's probably a little worked up about meeting w/dbil tomorrow, and I know it must be somewhat emotionally nerve-wracking & depressing to be going through all this stuff.
I really do not like his method. It's like he wants EVERYTHING from a 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath house to be brought into the kitchen, den, living room & dining room. So he has all these boxes and areas of STUFF... brass here, rugs there, pictures here, baskets there, pink glass here, green glass there, clear glass here... boxes of dishes, labeled, sitting in the floor of the kitchen, surrounded by boxes of cookbooks/recipe boxes, light bulbs, batteries, kitchen linens, bathroom linens... It's extremely cluttered -- and every single inch of counter space is covered w/misc kitchen goods. I would have left misc kitchen goods in view on cabinet shelves, but no... he wanted it all out in the open, except there is NO "open" anything, anywhere now.
DH's objective is to have NOTHING in any cabinet, drawer, or closet. He is making an exception for dmil's closet. Her clean, usable clothing can remain there until dfriend has a chance to see what (if anything) she can use.
The guest room bed is piled full of quilts, bedspreads, sheets, etc. Bedroom linens.
But eventually... eventually dbil will give his permission to sell/donate/etc... and we will then start packing up as antique auction friend advises.
What a day, glorious day, that will be...

Dee, that is terrible about your dd's dentist appt! My goodness! Hope she can get better news from your dentist at home. Also -- (((HUGS))) for your dgs! AND -- for dsil... I can see how he would tend to get pessimistic about things sometimes, with all this uncertainty w/his job.

I'm just going to have to wave at everyone agan tonight. I'm getting a little overwhelmed w/our schedule here myself, not unlike dh.
For the next 7-10 days, this is the plan:
Thurs. -- keep dgs morning, ds's music lessons... keep dgs afternoon, ds/dh meet w/dbil... ds/dgs stay for supper tomorrow night, watch ballgame w/dh
Fri. -- keep dgs, ds going out of town
Sat. -- keep dgs, ds/dh going to ballgame
Sun. -- keep dgs, ds playing at church out of town, go to that church
Mon. -- keep dgs morning, ddil doctor's appt/she wants ds to accompany her... Wmart afternoon
Tues. -- dmom's surgery
Wed. -- dmom home from hospital
Thurs. -- my doctor's appt, early-early morning (for me)... dmom care
Fri. -- accompany ds & dh to music thing IF dmom does not need care
Sat. -- ??? -- but probably for all of the next 7 days, I will have to be "on-call" for dmom care

The reason for so much time w/dgs is b/c ddil is away, helping her dmom recover from knee surgery. She will be back by Sunday night, I'm sure, but until then...

* whew * I need a nap just thinking about it all. Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof, right?

Wow, that's quite a schedule, Lucylee. When I have a schedule like that, I tell myself to just focus on the next day or that day and somehow I get through it.

Dee, that's an awful dental bill. Is there no other way it can be fixed? Also, too bad about DGS's head injury. Wow, the stuff our kids go through!

I did better today, but I'm ready for bed now. My CPA called and I went down and picked up taxes. Then I went to post office to mail, but fortunately I sat in parking lot and looked at them first - and found the corporation tax had an error - as stockholder, they used DH's first name and the name of our street as his last name. So I will have to fix that before I send it.

I got some groceries on the way home. A bunch of heavy bags and I did ok getting them loaded, unloaded and put away. I only slept about an hour afterward, and I was sitting there sleeping when DH came in and my eyes were watering, and DH wanted to know what was the matter. I guess he thought I was crying! But I am very happy that I did better today than the last several.

I wonder if Nancy could hear our chain saw going?! Neighbor had trimmed her big oak tree and said we could have the oak. DH chopped it all up smaller and hauled it over to our wood pile. We are glad to get it as we've used up most of our wood this winter. I hope he did not annoy the neighbors too much.
