Thursday Surprises!

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

My day started with a surprise. So I'm up already and almost done my tea & chocolate.

Google Cyclone Marcia if you want to know what surprises might be in store for Lynlee and family. I'm thankful ds is no longer living by the Gold Coast.

Are there any surprises in your neck of the woods today?

LEGO Club yesterday was fun. We had a new family, a young mom with 3 kids -- kindergarten boy, preschool girl, & toddler girl. They were happy to be there playing together, and the boy was very excited when we told him we would put his project on display in the main library. They said they will definitely come back.

I need to be at the library this afternoon at 4:45 and will work until 8.
Nothing urgent needed before then.

I'm feeling a touch of cabin fever so will pick a spot to declutter and try to clear some space.

Bookie - Thank you for the start this morning! Love the web camera!

Woke up this morning and started to make coffee……but no water came out of the RO faucet at kitchen sink. I walked to the laundry area where the RO equipment is located and discover a mini flood (about 5 gallons of RO water). NOT the way I would like to start my day….especially after so many things have continuously broke the last 2 months. We have not had a single day without something being broke since the first part of December. I shouldn't complain. A guess this is a sign that we have plenty. Plenty of things that can (and do) break.

LO counselor txt last night and asked if I could bring LO early for his appt today . 10:30am instead of 4pm.
No problem. Although it does mean I have to shuffle a few things around. And it means LO will miss his speech therapy today. I think he needs to see counselor more than speech so we will go with that.

We need a break in activities so we can focus on moving. MPB has been continuously & extremely needy for months. Somehow we need to get things moved out of the old home place. Realtor called yesterday and said we should close next week. Everything except curio cabinet is moved out of the house, but there are still many MANY load to be moved from outside. The little house and cellar are my current focus.

Each morning I separate the SHE cards by category then prioritizing each set of cards. This takes a couple minutes but helps immensely for me to see what I need to focus on. If I can't complete everything today, at least I will have my focus on the higher priority ones.

Top priority is taking care of myself. I have that category of cards laid out in the order I want to complete them. I have a plan and am ready to work it!

Not only is ds not living at Gold Coast, he is currently sleeping in the next room. The knock on our bedroom door this morning at 6:23 was the surprise that woke us up! He just wanted to let me know he was in the apartment.

Not exactly sure why he's here (he usually emails or calls to ask before arriving) but he sorted his laundry and I'll run it for him today (I didn't want to start the machines that early in the morning.) So perhaps it was because he needed clean clothes. No indication on FB that he has a rough night at work but he may be overtired and wanting a guaranteed quiet place to sleep because, as I recall, he was working about 20 hours or more since I saw him on Tuesday at dinner.

My day has a distinct paperwork and planning focus:

* enter the tax chits we have so far (I'll allow one hour for this and then stop.)
* reconcile another investment account (I'll allow 90 minutes for that but will have to continue until the whole account is finished)
* Plan Sunday School lesson (1 hour - the craft prep will happen tomorrow.)
* Plan meeting agenda and notes for Sunday church meeting (90 minutes - since I'm passing along my files from Ministry and Personnel.)
* Make some phone calls re travel insurance (30 minutes.)
* possibly reconcile a second investment account if I'm working efficiently.

I'll also need to get some walking in there, either on the treadmill or outside. The forecast says it is snowing today (it isn't although it did overnight) and will be colder than yesterday (time will tell on this but currently it is warmer than yesterday morning.)

This post sat here for ages while I was distracted with other websites. I'm obviously going to be struggling with distraction today. I didn't sleep well, or long enough so I'm starting the day over-tired. Maybe a nap will be added to my to-do list.

Good morning! I was awake about the exact same time, Kathryn! Dh's alarm went off at 6:23 a.m. We went to bed at midnight, so I think I didn't get enough sleep either. I'll feel it later. I'm fine now.

We have sunshine and clear blue skies! It is -6F. It is supposed to warm up to 6F. . . . Now, the forecast for snow on Saturday has been revised downward to 1 - 3 inches and no snow for Sunday. I guess we'll just wait and see what happens.

I was able to finish a quick spiff of the main bathroom, a quick dust of the piano, and put a couple things away before heading out the door at 7:03. At that point, people were already arriving for the meeting dh is hosting. The house is tidy enough but not particularly clean if one looks closely; the living room carpet has dog hair on it. A constant battle. I took myself to the gym and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. I wasn't feeling very energetic so it was a mediocre work out. I didn't do the 45 minutes I had planned. Then, I gassed the van and took myself to P anera, where I am currently situated. Yes, I am sitting here unshowered after a work out in gym clothes that probably don't smell the greatest. LOL! I'll probably head home in about 45 minutes. While here, I need to:
- get lesson plans in order for this afternoon
- make a syllabus for the session
- work on weekly li$ts
- stop by Walgreens in the same shopping area, if I can.

BookSaver, I started watching the Decorah Eagles during the 2011 egg watch. I have watched them ever since but last year, I was hooked. The 3rd eaglet really tugged at my heart. Then when he fledged and was injured, I was really upset. I am just happy that even though he can not fly, he is in training to be an Eagle Educator.

I have a dentist appointment today at 10 for a 6 month cleaning.

Today dh and I will be painting the downstairs guest room. It was dark paneling and dgd18 and her boyfriend painted it before they moved 3+ years ago. Dd2 decided they hadn't done a very good job so she repainted it. Since we are getting new carpeting we have decided to paint it again. Same color, just want to cover the areas where it needed more paint. We will paint the entire room and should never have to paint again. The walls are white now. Dh wanted to paint it a color but the curtains and bedspread have white in them. I want the room to stay light since it is a basement bedroom. I have wall stuff that has never been hung since we moved. I need to decide what I want to keep and hang it.

Well I better eat, do meds and shower before time gets away from me.

Back from taking LO to school. i have one hour at home before leaving to take him to appt. I'm multi-tasking by visiting her while doing another task. Multi-tasking = sidetracking? hum......probably so. :D

I'm excited for DSon. He was asked to apply for a job. He did and was selected, however he put a high price (salary) on his accepting the job. Now the ball is back in the court of the ones who want to hire DSon. Are they willing to pay that salary? If they accept DSon salary requirements, DSon is leaving it up to DDIL whether they move or he travels. DDIL called last night and talked through the various pro/cons of moving. Her biggest reluctance in moving revolves around the kids. They are in a good peer group, outstanding schools and DGS8 has found his niche with gymnastics. He is currently doing a gymnastic program that is excellent (Olympic type training). Time will tell what if DSon will change jobs and if DDIL decides to move the family.

Sorry, Booksaver, I normally go back and see if anyone else posted while I was starting a thread. Was too distracted today! Thanks for doing the merge.

I'm s2s and have had breakfast. Soaked the toe today. (None shower mornings, I soak; shower mornings I put on an ointment of some sort.) Need to look up why corn meal should work, the link Harriet gave me yesterday was interesting but nothing but anecdotal, no indication of what it is in the corn meal that works. I'm going out to the village tomorrow so may stop in at the co-op to pick some up.

Off to empty the dryer and fold the last load of laundry. Ds continues to live dangerously - I found his pen in the washer again.
