FINISHING TOUCHES FRIDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

Do you have something to put those finishing touches on today or this weekend? I'm sure Kathryn, along with many of us, does.
Dee I am so sorry to hear about dd's eye troubles now. I certainly hope this is temporary.
To say I'm a little worried is correct. Hope she improves through the day. Right now she's in the recliner with a wet cloth over her eyes. I was to take to dh to his db's for a yard sale this morning and then go on to work at church and go back to dbil/dsil's. Dawned on me early this morning that dh COULD take dd's car and I could go to work and zoom back home. Not sure what the day will bring but at least I can be home for dd. Will check on her status about 8:30 -if she's not 'good', I may just stay home from church. Didn't go last Friday because of the funeral we had to attend in Bradenton.

If I end up staying home, may work on our taxes and see if I can get them done or at least moving along. So afraid we're going to have to pay (lots) that I keep procrastinating. Time to get off the proverbial 'pot'.

Off to breakfast and coffee. Any particular brand, Harriet, of the Mountain Blend? Just curious. Dh and I only have 1 (large) cup a day.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Hi everyone!

I was thinking about making a peanut butter cake today. Wayne has posted it on FB a few times and mentioned it almost every day this week. It needs buttermilk... so I need to find out how to substitute that. I think it has something to do with vinegar.

Big news on local radio stations. Toronto turns 181 years old today.

So I could make it as a birthday cake, right? (grinning)

I'm up. Late but slept really well from 6:30 to 7:45, making up for a nightmare at 5:30.

Here's my dream. MF analyzes dreams as part of his work and is always telling me to remember my dreams. This one was easy to remember because the adrenaline rush kept me awake.

Find ds has come home over to sleep the day at my place but the spare bed is covered with my clothes for the trip (IRL true) and the apartment is a mess (IRL true) and so he slides the sofa across the room, badly scratching the floor, dumps the piles off it and lies down. His sister is here too, and OCD uncomfortable with the mess but won't touch a thing because she can't stand people touching her messes.

We are awake and dressed for the day, I'm dumping the things off the spare bed to move ds in there so I can visit with dd in the living room when people come to check out the apartment to sublet it from us (IRL we just moved over to month-to-month rather than signing for another year.) There are four of them and I have to wake up ds so they can look at the spare room and they are taking far too long to look over the place and touching things. Finally I lose my temper and throw them out, physically shoving them to the door. The woman had a sharp instrument (IRL probably one of my Dad's navigation tools) in her hand and won't give it back to me so I grab it from her and stab her in the heart. Shove them through the door and turn to look at all things they've messed up and broken. Then realize my passport is missing. Am glad I have her DNA on the sharp item so the police can find her. Among the other things missing is the front door lock (IRL when I got up this morning, I discovered the door had not been locked last night - I went to bed before Ken so it wasn't my job to check it.)

My takeaways from this:

1. I'm stressed over the chaos of going away (duh, that's normal for me,) The timing is bad since it is corporate year end so when we get back both our income taxes need to be prepared as well as prepping the books for the accountant. That's why papers are everywhere - I'm trying to do as much as possible before leaving, including getting ds's taxes filed since he's getting a significant refund.

2. Stolen passport indicates I'm not looking forward to travel and wish I didn't have to. Duh, normal for me. I haven't wanted to travel since spring 2012. Hepatitis allowed me to cancel one trip, Pancreatitis cancelled another (although I was looking forward to that because I was returning to Copenhagen, one of my favourite cities.) I didn't mind my trip Jan 2014 but that's because I got to see ds. Dh knows this is the last big trip I'm taking unless something changes over time.

3. I'm concerned that the only time we can spend together as a family before we go is Sunday evening. I had sent the kids a note to work out a time on Friday or Saturday since I had two services on Sunday and didn't want to get together then. Ds knows that 24 hours before a trip I'm basically hysterical and avoids seeing me if possible, dd hasn't lived in Ottawa since this started so isn't aware how bad it can be. They came up with Sunday night as the only time they are all available. So we'll be going out to eat, rather than having a family dinner here.

4. I need to take a 'stab' at taking control of things!

I'm sure the lock on the door is significant but don't know why and was struck by the fact that the door was unlocked last night but I had no way of knowing that. I suspect the scratches have more to do with the fact I vacuumed yesterday and noticed how scratched the floors are getting in places and mentally added them to my to-do list for when I get back.

Still have to write the service and sermon. I've been waiting for something to pour out of me but I no longer have time for that strategy! I'll go back to the pull the words out of me. Thankfully, the sermon can be much shorter than usual since I have two services and need to get between the two in just 30 minutes. If I run over, it makes that rushed.

Dh had done something wrong yesterday (the instructions were ambiguous) so he's starting the new dns propagation today. They take 24 - 48 hours so he waited 12 hours before checking. What he did was have his NZ friend check because last time we did this Australia came up in only a few hours so although the time zone difference isn't 'real hours' they seemed to count towards the 24 hours.

OOOHH, just checked and its up for us (which is all we need to proceed.)

We are fast running out of time to get the transfer done. Now 40 hours after we started we still don't know if we have the smarts to do this. We know what doesn't work but that isn't really helpful.

I too had strange dreams of high school kids I knew ahead of me in school with wise words probably from fb, in a rocky setting I suspect from watching ice cold gold on tv.

I need to put some finishing touches on household chore cards, doing floors, a round of zone work, and start laundry, toddlerN will be here this afternoon.

I am cooking and chopping up brussel sprouts for the chickens the neighbors gave me. The hens did not eat the. Whole so I am trying this.

Lost a post but this one is better.

Seems like I'm getting up later and later, but today the cleaning lady isn't coming until 12:30 so I had time to sleep in. Was only up once when dMacs got me up at 5:30. I'm hoping the new meds he's getting will help with the early awakening for breakfast. Moe continues to hobble/bounce around on his sore foot but is in much better spirits.

Nothing on the calendar today and we will not go to services tonight. Dh ended up going to a dinner last night honoring social workers and got home late, so we have left over soup for tonight also, unless I want to cook something else. Our freezer is stuffed with chicken and fish but I'm unable to cook because I almost never know when dh will be home, and I can't fire myself up about cooking for only me. Maybe I'll thaw something for tonight and plan to cook Shabbat dinner, since I know he'll be home?

-breakfast and meds
-kitchen clean up
-start a load of delicates to hang up
-straighten MBR and bath for dcleaning lady
-start the dishwasher

On the server migration, things are progressing. Dh has a conference call at 11 EST and the boards will be shut down after that.

I'm dressed.

My TOM has arrived which may explain many things in my dream, including how I could stab someone!

Well this certainly has been a day for finishing touches.

I've added a few more styles and am off to find something that irritates me less than this standard option.

After that, we are off to bed.

Thank you all for your patience.

Hopefully, I'll find posts in the morning so that we'll know more than just Ken and I can see the boards!
