I don't know if you'd call it thriving or not, but I was pretty busy for a few hours this morning...
* s2s, Bible reading
* went to post office
* went to two grocery stores to get boxes
* unloaded boxes at dmil's house
* admired work ds & contractor friend are doing, admired new heat pump
* w/ds's assistance, loaded heavy metal lounge chair to bring to our house
* talked to dmom, tried to stress to her the extreme need for her to get the curio cabinet out of dmil's house and into her own
... frustrating... she says she will get on this ASAP... she will call my cousins, they want to buy a vintage auto she owns (I keep forgetting about it -- ddad bought it from duncle, I think, long ago but dcousins have stored it at their house ever since.) Dmom says they will be willing to help her with whatever. DH says they will break the glass in the cabinet (it is glass on all 4 sides) and WHY doesn't she just Call The Man??? (The professional movers.) I agree -- she is well able to afford to do that. * sigh *
* got oil changed in SUV
* got Easter egg @ jewelry store
... (lady misspelled dgs's name ... * sigh * ... don't know whether to send it back or not or try to correct myself w/sharpie
* bank
* back to grocery store for peach popscicles, dgs's favorite
... I'm kinda partial to them myself, too ;)
* nap
* called two places re: prices for moving and setting up pool table
... frustrating... dh says we could probably buy a pool table for the $ we'll have in this eventually

So, it has been quite a day, all in all, but I think we have enough boxes to finish our packing chores.

Mmmm... supper sounds good, LadyM. And spelling words sound HARD, for 1st grade! Wow.

Don't know what we're having for supper -- dh wants to go to a movie and we may eat out before it starts.

(((Twins' dd & Moses)))

Yes, Kathryn, PLEASE avoid pirate-waters!!!

* whew * sigh of relief for Sadie & LadyM -- I've been seeing some pictures online.

As dh said yesterday, just which one of these things do I like better than wearing a coat -- tornados, fireants, allergies, or weeds? * sheesh * Spring really isn't the PERFECT season, either, is it?
Dee, if I stop doing chores around here and go out to run errands, once I get back I "feel" as if I'm "done" and most progress stops.
Yes, Harmony. Exactly.

And thanks Harmony, for input re: privacy concerns. I really am trying not to complain so much, or be sooo obvious in my obsessions, at least in the main forums.

News IS depressing. Who would have thought the co-pilot would have purposely crashed that plane in France? The world is just a crazy place these days.

Must cuop more and read K&K's travelogue! Hope y'all have no more sickness and enjoy the rest of your trip!
Tomorrow is another day.

Started my friday here. List on back of envelope.
I'm wanting some washing on, think I'll sort as the load will be too full.
I want to get to library today.

LM - I read a US book on learning difficulties recently, and was surprised at all the teaching that happens in the 'prior to Yr 1' years, that used to be begun in yr 1. Imagine if that Yr 1 was the start of a child's formal education now, I think they would be lost. At least those spelling words are all composite words so when they taken apart, they aren't so long. light - that is a different more difficult combo imo. Remember it was a big day for LO too, so he may have been worn out when it came time to learn spelling.
Review tomorrow and he might have his learning capacity back on track. I'm so glad the meds are working for him.
Just begin.
Living this day, today

Look for the good in all.

Oy. Now I cannot find Moe's new meds. I had three bottles of dog meds to p/u and thought I got to the car with all them, also thought I picked them all up to bring in, but I only have two bottles now. Will continue with other stuff, and keep looking. It's also raining now, so harder to stand outside and look in the car. :roll:

-clear kitchen counters/bkast bar again
-take four folding chairs to garage and hang back up (used last weekend)
-fold and put away laundry that came out of the dryer
-straighten up laundry room for dcleaning lady
-start pulling out things to pack

Flight out of ATL isn't until almost 1 p.m. tomorrow but dh, with extreme anxiety issues thinks we should leave here around 9 a.m. to drive to ATL. We should have plenty of time, plus a couple of extra hours.

Even when my kids were kindergarten age, they were already expected to be reading. A classmate of dd's was far behind because he had attended a "day care" where there wasn't a lot of additional instruction. n

Hi All. I wasn't able to post yesterday. We went with ds#1 and ddil to IKEA. It was a nice day trip with them. Always nice to see what new things are on display in that store. We were getting tired by the time we got home, but dh insisted on cutting the lawn in the back yard; finished just as the evening got dark. While he did that I vacuumed the carpets and mopped the kitchen, bathrooms and hallways. I also got the bathrooms s/s and furniture dusted. So my weeklies are all done.

I read your travelogues, Kathryn, this morning while I was waiting for the a/c guy to come. Very interesting places you are visiting; island living there is so different from where we all are here. Hopefully you will continue to feel better. A/c guy said our system is running well, was pleased at how clean the filter was and thus the coils were good too. I have been vacuuming the filter once a week and once a month I clean it outside with the hose on full force.

Sadie, I watched the news about your weather and I'm glad you, your dfamily, LadyM and your dfamily are all safe. There is still some rough weather around today. Hoping everyone is safe. We are supposed to have storms tonight and early tomorrow.

Dh talked to our dniece last evening and she is feeling better, well again after the pneumonia. Thanks for asking Harriet! She said the memorial service for her ddad (our dbil) was nice. The graveside service was nice also, but it rained all throughout and the minute it was over the rain stopped. Now dh, me and his oldest dbrother's dwife ( our dsis-in-law) are the only ones left in that generation.

Thinking about generations....today is my dmom's birthday; she would have been 98 years old!

I do not find it easy to focus on housework after coming home from outside errands! It all depends of what has to be done and when.

Wishing Helia and dh and Twins' Mom and dh both a nice weekend away.

LadyM, I remember Run Spot, Run! Those are hard words for spelling and for such an early grade! BTW, your quick meal sounded good! Although now they are teaching a lot more in Pre-School/Nursery School than they did a long time ago when my boys were young !

I know better than go out -it's so hard to get moving again once I return home.......Anyone else have that problem?

YES! And NOBODY understands this in my family!!!

Momentum needs to be allowed to exist and not undermined - constant interruptions take time for recuperation!

For instance, I have a big weekend coming up, right? and so much to get ready for, had a meeting this morning and then late lunch date with cousins and barely made it to the school to pick up dd (also had had to go to school previously because the money she put into her book bag had disappeared - mystery but had to be replaced - OH and went to grocery earlier, too). When she and I got back to the house I actually rushed to the restroom, that's how busy I had been. AND YET, both HRH and dd thought I ought to be able to go back out again and pick up some things because they were so pitiful with their own responsibilities.

Here's the really inappropriate part - I did it. :|

So now I have hit my usual wall before a busy weekend, only it's happened on Thursday afternoon/evening, and the difference is that I haven't even gotten to most of the work I need to do for the weekend itself.

if I stop doing chores around here and go out to run errands, once I get back I "feel" as if I'm "done" and most progress stops. It's always hard for me to switch gears and begin again another set of chores. I will often come here to take a break, regroup my thinking, and then begin again.

Definitely. Coming home from the CHORE of errands is a relief and you feel like you ought to sit down, to tell the truth! Just the driving alone is a very active thing and your brain had better be on double duty. Takes a lot of wide-eyed attention, a little adrenaline. Then assuming you have to be social, make explanations to salespersons, keep your wits about you in public places, make rapid-fire decisions, and you can't exactly wear just anything, either now CAN you? Better change so you look acceptable! Oh, gee, maybe you should change BACK when you get home to do household chores. Ugh! I'm exhausted just telling about it.

HOW did I used to do all the errands in one day? I had that once, but haven't been able to recapture it in years.

ToddlerN was here longer but is gone now dgd was not here long at all.
It is a lovely 68* outside now. I cleaned out and weeded another flower bed in the front yard today. Got some new leaves for the chickens to play in. Taking a breather now. Got out the bug catcher nets for our walk tomorrow. I need to get out the sunscreen also. Hubby has changed dinner plans no problem.

Knitting meeting went well. Tues. After doing a store run I ran out of umph for going to my knitting class.

(Sunny) :(

Twins, hope you found the medicine.

I'm glad everybody out west is not blown away. We're watching the weather with breath held. We have a house wall opened up...

LadyM those are extremely hard words for someone LO's age. "Look look oh look, see Spot run" was all I had at that age. DKids got that in nursery school and were way ahead of half the kids as nursery schools were not all the rage they are now.

Productive day around here. Helped DH load some lumber and tie it down with his straps. He uses a ladder to get up into the bed of that truck as it is high. I was busy asking him if he had his phone, book, keys etc. and both of us forgot he had ladder set up against the bumper... put the truck into reverse and crash - crunch. Ladder (wooden) has been run over and is toast. He wants me to go around and price them, try thrift places, etc. first. He doesn't want a really good one because it rides around with him in the open truck bed. sigh...what else can happen.

Dinner / dishes done. I did a bit of financial work this evening and didn't like the results. DH and I sat together in front of my calculator and brainstormed a bit. Numbers don't lie. It is what it is. On we go.

May Friday be a better day.
