Good Friday PWYC

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

Good morning everyone!

We are land-based now waiting at the hotel for our tour guide to arrive. Someone showed up for us at 7:30 but it was wasn't Roddy so that's just weird. Anyway, that guy was told we'll be available after 9.

Hope you all have a good day. In Canada and South Africa, this is a holiday. Hope you can take a breather day whether or not it is a holiday.

Good Morning!

I saw an article reminding us to be thankfully for what we have. When we are cleaning the dishes, be thankful we have food to dirty up our dishes. I needed to read that article to get my mind out of my little circle of happenings. What seems to be a hard and draining time is really a time full of blessings when I put on a different mind-set.

Yesterday LO made it through school day and wanted to go to ball practice. I couldn't take DGD3 since she is sick and DH had a meeting. So I asked a DFriend to pick up LO and take him to ball practice. This was the very first time that DH or I didn't take LO and stay with him. 30 minutes after LO started ball practice, DFriend called to let me know LO was in public bathroom sick to stomach. Argh!! I loaded DGD3 up and went to ball park to get LO. I had to stop on the one mile drive home so DGD3 could throw up. I didn't get much done last night other than taking care of sick little ones. HOWEVER, we all survived and got lots of extra snuggle time.

I am going to cancel FNG coming to our home tonight. I don't want to share the sick germs with them.

Bathroom construction continues today. I am not going to be able to take 2 sick little ones to store to pick out the bathroom items (vanity, bathtub, cmde, faucets) so I am going to tell the construction guys to just get the normal things.

Lady M, so sorry about all the sickness. Poor LO and dgd3!

Hope the touring today goes well Kathryn!

I need to do the traditional Friday conga "clean up for cleaning lady" before I do anything else today. Bad evening last night - dh is trying to pin dd down on dates so he can get her tickets for trip to Jordan and she doesn't know what she wants to do. He wants her to meet with a young friend here from Israel (actually works for Federation) and let her help dd, so at my suggestion to just set something up, they were to have lunch today. DD went ballistic about dh planning for her and the two of them went at it. I just went to bed early and left them to figure it out. I took care of my dsis Wed and dmom to dr yesterday (long drive, much of it in the rain yesterday) and I was just beyond tired of dealing with anything else. So I don't know what today holds.

Dh isn't working today - he has gone to his Friday a.m. club meeting so will be underfoot, and probably not in a good mood.

PODA:
-groceries
---need ingredients for very large salad which I will assemble at the seder tonight
-p/u lamp at repair shop
-banks - for dd and dsis, and my bank if they are open today
-take dh shirts to cleaners
-dd has dr appt at 3:30, I will accompany here
-need to be at dfriends at 5 to help with seder set up for tonight
-what else?

Right now I am finishing up the straigtnening up/decluttering for dcleaning lady first.

Good morning, villagers ~
Checking in ...

Wednesday night's library group meeting was productive.
* They are planning a tea party for grown-ups next month. Unfortunately, they have chosen to do it May 9th even though neither the president nor I can be there. (That's Mother's Day weekend.) I'm sorry to miss it, because they're calling it a Downton Abbey Tea Party and are bringing in a harpist for entertainment. It all sounds lovely ... but DH and I are both fortunate enough to still have our DMoms with us, so I'm not giving up that weekend with family.
* Construction at the library is causing us to adjust plans for our Annual Book Sale and summer LEGO Club meetings. Excavation for the library addition has started ahead of schedule, so we will happily change our plans to accommodate the contractor.

I'm not sure why, but I did not sleep well at all Wednesday night. That put me in a fog all day yesterday, really hard to get anything done.

Work last night was fun, though. We were quite busy at the library, lots of people coming in. Stacks of books and movies going out the door for the weekend.

Today's Tasks:
* Finish month-end financial reports for the sewing group
* End of quarter financial report for the sewing group
* Still slogging through the big tax report forms for the library group; waiting on key info from someone else
* Sam's & Aldi run to buy groceries for the weekend family parties

The weather has been gorgeous for a few days, in the 50s and 60s. Today we will drop down to the 40s. That isn't bad as long as it stays dry.

I need 1 more cup of coffee before I can start crunching numbers ... and maybe some chocolate ...

Good morning. LadyM you sure have your hands full.

I've done some desk chores, sheets are in washer now, and I've been doing some work in the office which is a pit right now. Dishes are washed. I went to replace my little light bulb in the overhead fixture at my desk and went right to the spot where I keep them. It's a little tiny bulb and I had 3 old bulb boxes there kept for the number...and 1 box I thought held my last bulb...but it was a bottle of rubber stamp ink! Same size bulb. I am working in a "cave" without the light...even though I ran extension cord and sat lamp from nearby table on the desk - it doesn't do the job sufficiently. So that is on the shopping list.

Need to do a little conga around here. Some of it done yesterday, floors need finished.

LadyM, hmmm... ... I hope you do still have the option to veto a sink faucet/handles that may come in the door if it really doesn't suit. I was astonished at the difference between my taste and dstepson's and sure was glad I was with him to pick one out. On the other hand, he knew what to buy for shower better than I did, since it was all about function, hidden behind the curtain.

Lilac, I am a little amazed myself. I've been a proponent of whole foods vitamins ever since my bout with PMS in late 80s and subsequent bout with emotional breakdown, stemming from list-mania and guilt/shoulds/oughts. :) But there's nothing like pneumonia  to make you listen to doctor and read like crazy, so I'd have to say the regular probiotic that hormone dr prescribed, plus Vit D3 (sun but usually supplement) and its helpers K2 and magnesium have been part of staving off bugs. Also I do T-Tapp, and there's a lot of talk on those boards about surprise of long-term avoidance of colds (an emphasis on moving the lymphatic fluids). Since I'm going ahead with antibiotic I won't know whether this was viral or allergy.

:?: Does anyone wear facemasks for household tasks or going out into pollen, outdoor tasks, etc? HRH wants me to consider this.

I awoke coughing at 4:00 and stayed up until 8:00 and I went back to bed until 10:00.

I hope everyone else with sickness is feeling better.
