I had not committed to hosting an Easter dinner and so dd2 volunteered. We usually have evening meals so that the girls can be with their in-laws. However, this time the boys dad wants them Easter evening. Dgd18 works Saturday evening and dgs21 has to return to college town late Sunday afternoon, so Sunday noon-1 ish it is. Dh offered to smoke 6 slabs of baby back ribs. When I brought them home and he noticed that it was pennies away from being $80 for the meat, he was rather shocked. But if we took everyone out to eat, that is a drop in the bucket to what that would cost. I will make potato salad, deviled eggs and a dessert. Dd1 and dd2 will do everything else.
Dsisil called while I was running errands, so I called her back. We are both struggling with the loss of our baby sister. It just doesn't seem possible that it happened. I have to hold on to the fact that the way it happened was best for her. She never had to hear that it was hopeless, get your affairs in order, tell your loved ones goodbye. She went to sleep and never woke up. She had never gotten over the loss of her dh, 7 plus years ago and was very fragile. I can hear her laugh, her voice and the 45 years of memories play over and over in my mind. I have always felt blessed to have the wonderful dsisils, dmil and dfil that I have/had.
Db's wife who is a close friend to my surviving dsisil has been planning a reunion for Labor Day weekend. It will be in our hometown. It will be db's family, dsisils family, dniece and dnephew who just lost their dm and our family. Dsisil who we just lost was so looking forward to it. We wanted to be able to get together for a change when it wasn't a funeral.
I have been trying to call or text dsisil and dniece daily. Dsisil and I want and need to be there for dniece.
Dh has been working on our bedroom. The bi-fold doors for our closets finally came in. We bought the door and window casings trim pieces. All that has to be painted. We have the floor trim picked out but will get it after this other is painted and in place. I bought a new comforter, bedskirt, Euro pillow shams, regular pillow shams, 3 different accent pillows, 2 sets of curtains and 2 valances for our bedroom. They are white, navy and other blues in a toille print. When we got married dm bought us a flowered bedspread. A few years later she bought a royal blue bedspread. When we bought a mobile home when we moved to Colorado, it came with a white bedspread and matching curtains. In 1987 we bought a new bedroom set and so I bought new bedding. I have had it for 28 years and it is still in excellent shape. So I plan to keep it, in case I need it again. I do know that even though this new bedding says it is machine washable, I will be having it dry cleaned. The curtains are lined, just like the ones I have for the guest room. When I washed them, the print fabric shrunk about 6 inches and the white lining didn't. I had bought 2 pairs and used 1 set for the window, 1 panel for the walk-in closet door and have a spare panel. So I need to use that spare panel and make attached valance to lengthen it. That ought to be a fun project!!!!!
It is late and I am sitting here babbling to myself. My sleep has gotten so messed up these last few weeks. The other night I went to bed at 10:15 and was wide awake at 3, stayed in bed until 4 and then got up. I wasn't worth a thing all day and ended up napping. Better head to bed...........
