Easter Sunday with a side of Passover

Easter is here! Sunrise services, worship and praise, Easter baskets and egg hunts. And Passover continues with its unleavened bread.

What's going on with your family today? I might hunt up an old Easter photo at the house that I grew up in. Lots of cousins and Easter baskets all around.

Not doing much celebtating here this year. Will try to make it next week when it is not so crouwded.

I am up have had coffee thinking of breakfast. No news on egg hunt for gkids might be with tne other side of the family as were were all together last Sun.

Thinking how I can stay more on track with my exercise next week and move more.

Sunny, beautiful morning here; earlier we could hear music from an outdoor service somewhere near.

We have no particular plans for the day so far. I'd like to do some clean up, some planning for the week, and perhaps stamping. I'm sure dh will want to go out somewhere to get out of the house.

Yesterday I had forgotten that we were seeing our rabbi and his wife for a late lunch at a restaurant. I'm not very Passover-observant, but hated to order a sandwich in front of them, of course. I had a nice salad with a small portion of grilled salmon added to it. Very light considering I had eaten so much the night before at the seder. Dh wanted to walk around downtown or do something else, but I was just craving coming home for some real down time. He just doesn't get it, but we did come home and just hang out. I went to bed around 10 p.m. and slept until almost 9 a.m., was only up a couple of times during the night and not for very long.

It's a miracle, but I made it to sunrise service at church today. Beautiful service, well attended, they were going around getting more chairs! The men's group came earlier (DH was there at 4:30) making pancakes and sausage for a breakfast after. It was all very nice and I was so happy I'd gone. Traditional hymns for a change, also nice.

Have dinner planned, beef in crock pot, something DH had brought home. I didn't like the marinade or the smell it was producing so I put it out on the back porch! I have plenty of veggies, salad and baked potato in case I don't like the meat. It's just us today. Have talked with 1 DD so far.

I hope Sunny is having fun with her family today. Also hope Harriet is feeling better and LadyM's family.

My left eye is bothering me some today. Don't really know what the problem is, though it started after I took shower/shampoo last evening. Don't remember burning soap in it. Have rewashed my glasses, but focus problem doesn't seem to be the lenses...and used some eye drops.

DH went back to church for the 11:00 service with the youth group. I feel a nap is coming this afternoon.

Hi everyone!

We went to look at the house that we are most likely going to buy this morning.

Then we went and spent some time getting familiar with our new-to-us boat.

Then we came home and baked lemon squares and cornbread.

Wayne and I live very close to a border crossing and we have gone to Niagara Falls, New York to shop. Can anyone here tell me what cornbread mix makes the best cornbread please. We have tried a couple of brands and Krusteaz (?) seems to be better.

We are busy here in the Sunny household. Dfam#3 arrived yesterday about 10 am -- they made the trip in 14 hours! Ds & ddil took a nap then we met ddil's dsis who was visiting here for a wedding. We went shopping for a prom dress for dgd17. Then all the men met up with us for supper at S weet T omatoes. This morning we were up early for Sunrise Service at 7 am. They had a breakfast prepared also, but we decided to go somewhere else. Now we are all home, turkey and ham are in the oven, dgd17 made a wild berry tart for dessert. Dfam#1 just got here, dfam#2 should be here in a couple more hours. It is pleasantly noisy here, adults in one room talking, dgkids in the family room visiting; they all get along together!

It was so good to see dfam#3; they have lots of things planned for the week, so it will be busy.

Diet needs to start Mon. We has words on tne food issues.
Forgot my a.m insulin dose bs was an ack reading!

Dh and I went for a drive and a walk at a historic area.

Sunrise service was spectacular. We got there about 20 minutes into the service, having hiked up the hill since the shuttle had just left. It was pitch dark and there were log 'steps' in places but I managed although it was my limit. Coming down in day light was harder on the knees. I will NEVER travel without my hiking poles again!

At the service we sang hymns I'd never heard before, there was a good sermon and he said he'd stop preaching when we got close to sunrise and, although he was facing the people, he knew when it would be due to the look on their faces. We then sang the Hallelujah chorus as the sun crested the ridge of mountains surrounding the Cape Flats. It was spectacular.

Got back to the hotel just after 8. Had breakfast, finished packing and were ready for the chauffeur when he showed up early. Had a snack in the lounge and then a steak lunch on the plane.

Dh and I watched two movies together, The Theory of Everything and Jersey Boys. Then I rested.

In the lounge now and will go for something to eat in the fine dining restaurant, then shower and redress for the day. I stink.

Our family likes Krusteaz honey cornbread mix the best, CathyS, better than homemade or any other mix I've tried, including a Trader Joe's mix that I personally liked a lot.
