FRIDAY CONGA

Post by DeeClutter »

It's "conga" day if you are able. For me, I'll be on the run. Have to work at church this morning. Pastor had sent the copy of his part of the bulletin to dd Wednesday but then he remembered that we're having communion Sunday since we didn't have it last Sunday. I have copied the one she had to a flash drive and perhaps I can at least get up to church and get it started. Have to ask him to send the bulletin copy to me as well. He's not been able to be there on Friday the last couple of weeks as he's been ill. Say nothing of the fact that he's 'part-time' and has to come over an hour to the church. I want to get up there early and at least get started.

I got up fairly early this morning and put my "Carmen" hat on and picked up the kitchen & did up what few dishes there were. I try so hard to keep the sink shining -isn't that one of the premises we first learned all that many years ago?

Have a great day -hope to peek in again this afternoon........
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Good morning to Dee, as she congas over to the church to work on the bulletin. Brings back memories, there was a period of time my mother prepared the church bulletin as a volunteer. She would type it up in the office, then take the "mask" to the mimeograph machine in a work room and run off the bulletin. Remember the mimeograph machines, and the worksheets for school and the smell of them?

Not too challenging a day here, thankfully, after all the running yesterday. I didn't get the return done at the mall, but did get all the other stuff done. Got home around 9 p.m. and dh was already asleep in front of the TV. I wound down for about an hour and then slept. Very nice overnight - I heard Moses whimper around midnight but it was too early to give him meds again, but then he and Macs slept until 6 this morning, when a T-storm rolled through. So I got up then with Macs and snuggled with him for awhile (along the way, plucking some of his shedding coat.)

Got to straighten up for dcleaning lady, then have a hair cut and highlights at 11:30 and body work at 3. We'll have Shabbat dinner at home tonight - dh asked about inviting someone over but I'm passing since we are having friends over on Sunday evening already.

Good morning Twins and Dee!

I guess today, I'll be conga-ing down the interstate to my parents' home in central IL.

Well, last night, I knew my goal of getting out of the house by 8 a.m. this morning was just not going to happen. It was 10 pm by the time I had gotten through my bare bones evening tasks: I had gotten home around 6:10, gotten dinner (leftovers) on the table, gotten dinner cleaned up, made a quiz, and emailed my supervisor with the plan and materials she needs to sub for me this afternoon. I still hadn't touched laundry.

It turns out dh wants me to take the kid car on my travels since it is more reliable, so I don't need to fret over getting the van in for an oil change and brake lamp replacement before I leave.

Yesterday, was 7.25 hours payroll.

So far today:
- dogs out, dogs in
- filled dogs water bowl
- bfast
- helped dh medicate Maia's ear
- went over dates again w/ dh for proposed family vacation this summer. It's on the wall calendar - he could look himself. And didn't he write down the dates at the time of the discussion?
- collected laundry; started lol #1
- switched laundry; now, lol #1 is in the dryer and lol #2 is in the washing machine. THat's all I'll do, should be enough.

Next:
- QT
- s2s and self care
- pack
- keep laundry moving (I'm waiting for a pair of jeans to come out of the dryer before I get dressed)

Good morning, villagers ~

Good for Harriet's DD16 assembling her chest of drawers herself. I bought my big computer desk with drawers as a flat box, and somehow DH was never available to help me with the pieces. I think it took me 3 or 4 days in and around other chores once I finally opened the box, but I enjoyed the work very much and it still feels good when I look at the desk and know that I put it together all by myself. I hope DD16 has the same sense of accomplishment with her chest of drawers.

I wish I could fix the roof myself the way Elizabeth does hers. Of course, the main roadblock to learning that skill is the fact that I'm terribly afraid of heights. :|

Yesterday's sewing group board meeting was productive, and last night at work was fun. In between those 2 activities, I ran into a friend at the grocery store, and that's always a pleasant occurrence. Neither of us had time to chat, but just the brief hello was a boost in the middle of a long day.

Today my plan is to alternate between doing laundry and plodding away at the library group's corporate tax report forms. I still need to start our personal taxes, too.

I really like my new K coffee maker. I bought a reusable filter pod for it as well, because I don't like all of the packaging, extra expense, and waste involved with the individual pods -- although they certainly are very convenient and quick. I need to test how it works for brewing tea, as I'm a little concerned that the water doesn't seem to get hot enough for that.

Sadie, I was sorry to hear you'd been in pain. Hope you're better now.

helia, have a safe, enjoyable trip to your parents'.

Mimeograph - my dmother used this so often as a first grade teacher, Twins' Mom.

BookSaver, dd awakened to two things; first the very feeling of accomplishment you mentioned. She says had we purchased ready-made a similar chest of drawers, she would never have felt about it the way she feels about this one. Second, though, the odor is pretty bad this morning. There was probably pressure on - or finishing nails through - the particle board in the last steps. It makes one hesitate to put clothing inside the chest... ...

Tobias lost another half-pound of weight down to 17.5. We'd been mentioning that he looked better, and sure enough. It's the dry food part of his diet (which vet does want, for his teeth) that keeps him big, I'm sure, but I may tweak some more. I'd like him at 16, since that's supposed to be good for a tall, long male shorthair.

I coughed through the night and grew exhausted, so I'm trying to work up some optimism this a.m.

Definitely want to CONGA today.

I slept well but that's due to the drugs. And it wasn't really quality sleep according to fitbit. Dh slipped out of the room at 6:25, I slept deeply until 6:45 (thought it was around 8:30), dozed, then turned on our radio around 7:15 and promptly fell back asleep. Got out of bed at 8:30.

I've made the bed, emptied the dishwasher, washed up the non-dishwasher stuff from last night (dh said he was going to do it but didn't get to it before bed or this morning) and have had my tea and chocolate. Not much to show for getting to the cross-roads of the morning.

I'm still groggy from the meds. May switch to the non-drowsy antihistamines since I'm not noticing a big difference in the itchiness. Ice seems to be the most effective way of dealing with it, followed by distraction. At least with the meds the itchiness doesn't wake me through the night.

Off to have my breakfast and then s2s.

Good morning y'all...

Waving to everyone this morning....I'm joining the line as well.

Have a gaggle of girls ..10-15... Gathering aty he this evening for a Girls Night Out. My house is in good shape so I just need to gussy it up a bit.

Ran all my errands yesterday, but that took most of my day.

Love hearing abt Harriet's DD and her building adventures. She's my kind of girl.

Twins I understand the rabbit hole you keep falling down. I can now tell y'all that an cestry contacted me abt two weeks ago abt possibly making a national commercial. I had to submit a video explaining how I used their site and my results. Didn't make this round, but still may be called in. Not too disappointed as I know the filming industry works.. May have been rejected because I didn't fit the physical image they were looking for. However it was fun being asked.

Oohhhh... I need to catch up to the back of the line ;-)
