MONDAY MARVELS

Post by DeeClutter »

I see that Harriet found one of life's marvels yesterday, in a new granddaughter. What marvels will peek out at you today?

I'm marveling at the fact that I was up at 6:30 -awake since 5:30. Got to at least see dd for a couple of minutes before she went out the door. She's not sleeping well -I know she has way too much on her mind/plate. Said this morning, "Maybe when I get to camp, I can sleep a little better."

Imagine dh will be calling me within a couple of hours. He's seeing a new dr. at his regular health care this morning -just a routine check up (and his Dr. retired Jan 1st). Wednesday he sees the orthopedist again and Friday he sees his gastro Dr. So maybe we'll know more about the knee after Wednesday. He had an MRI done last Monday.

Have to print off some forms for our tax man today and get them sent to him. Along with the check for his services.

Time to finish s2s (just my shoes/socks). Rest of me is done & have my meds done as well as the bed made. Then it's coffee time and breakfast.

I'm awake!

Actually, dh woke me up trying to quietly leave the room at 6:30. I have a ton of things, including belts and hair clips hanging on the door, so there's no way he will ever succeed keeping the door quiet. I was reasonably awake, though. My pain and itch levels are subsiding now that I'm home and so neither woke me through the night. My fitbit reports an 81% sleep quality, a recent record for me.

Dd is coming in 2 hours so I need to get moving.

This place is a mess, but I also have to put clean sheets on the bed (as well as summer weight bedding) and s2s before then. Window cleaning and caulking is happening today so the windows are shut. Thankfully, they don't do the balconies so I can have the balcony doors open. Although the heat is turned off, the radiant heat is still significant and between the stronger spring sun and the higher temperatures, the apartment is quite warm unless a window or door is open. Unfortunately, there's an industrial chemical smell outside so we aren't getting fresh air.

Dh usually tried to creep out of our room too, Kathryn. But just the act of his moving around would wake me -I'm a terribly light sleeper.

Been having printer problems but finally managed to print off the forms I needed. Know I'm going to need to 'bite the bullet' and invest in a new printer soon. Just have so many ink cartridges to use up on this one. Though I may only try to get through as many black ones as I can before replacing the color cartridge. At that point I'll have to weight the expense of the colored vs. a new printer and 'wasting' the black ones I have left.

Good morning, villagers ~
I hope your weekend was fun. Dh and I had a good weekend.

My sewing group meeting Saturday morning was fun, saw lots of friends.

Clearing out DMIL's house went well Saturday afternoon. DH and 1 of his brothers took 2 pickup loads of stuff to Goodwill. Several bags of trash were moved to the garage so a bag can be set out on the curb each week, since DMIL is still paying for trash pickup as part of her water bill. We cleared everything out of her closets and kitchen cupboards that she will never use again. Furniture and misc. items that are staying were all put in the 1 guest room on the main floor that is not getting new carpet. We will go back another day to haul stuff out of the basement. She will be moving back to a totally decluttered house, and we will have that much less to do when it is finally time to sell it.

Yesterday DH and I both took most of the day off. I ran through the 1st draft of our personal taxes and did a bit of paperwork for the library group, but otherwise tried to focus on the 3Ds in the house.

I hope DH does not have to call for a rescue again today, I really don't have time. He called in a bad mood after work Friday because a tire went flat on his way home, and he couldn't get his jack to work so he had to call me to bring the one in my car. He drove his car to work today with the spare on, planning to go somewhere after work to buy 2 new tires.

Today is a desk day until I'm due at work this evening. Deadlines, deadlines. :| The sooner I get all these corporate tax forms filled out for the library group, the sooner I can get back to spring cleaning our house. I'm still trying to get some required info from a library board member, which is frustrating.

Good morning! I'm back from a very pleasant low-key visit with my family in IL. I got back last night around 8:30 pm. In the meantime, dh unpacked the box of stuff shipped from his father's home, and there is now a 300 year old metal chest sitting in our living room. Our home is more modern in style, so it's not a complete match, but it's not awful either. There is a fake latch/lock on it which Dd16 eagerly showed me upon my arrival home last night. She also showed me the true way to unlock it, which is almost James Bond-ish - move a random plate of metal, which is so well-hidden I can't find it now, and then a plate of metal elsewhere on the chest swings out and the key hole is then evident. The key is enormous!! The squares around the chest (not on the lid) are painted, but the paint is faded, almost gone on the front. We may see if dd19 can touch it up. It probably weighs 300 lbs. There is also a beautiful long white baptismal gown in my bedroom. I wonder if our kids would use it for their kids? It needs to be dry cleaned and stored somewhere safe. There are other odds and ends sprinkled throughout our house too, including a crystal jam pot in our fridge and a crock for salt on the counter. . .

I am with Harriet, marveling at what I think is a normal Monday - and very possibly a normal week with no/few extras thrown in. That hasn't happened for. . .months!! :D I'm not sure it is real.

I'm happy that Harriet got to meet her new granddaughter!

I got up with dd16 this morning and checked that she knows how to get to the hair stylist (mine) in neighboring village - w/out driving on the interstate. She sort of knows and will look at the route more carefully once home from school. Her appt. is this afternoon, but I'll still be at work.

I have taken care of the dogs and had some QT this morning and checked email and web sites - not much going on. We're forecast to get up to 69* this afternoon! There's a high chance of rain only during a 2 hour window, which would be when I would go for a jog, of course. . .

Tutee R has not sent me an essay. I wonder if she is bringing one with her? Or, if she is not going to do that this week. She did take the TOEFL test on Friday.

--Oh, this sat here while I responded to an email with a bit of moms group business, trying to get our ducks in a row with child care for this week. Moms had to cover for 4 child care worker absences last time. There are already 2 known absences so far for this week. . . .(15 child care workers total in 5 different rooms for infants - K; about 50 - 60 kids are registered, so it's quite an operation - though they never all show up on the same day, and the itty bitties often stay in the meeting with their moms. Some, however, do get brought up to the nursery.)

Next for me:
- s2s
- kitchen attention (not bad)
- look over R's material for today

Later:
- tutor R 10 - 11-ish
- menu plan and groc. list
- go in to work early so I can grade a quiz and update grades online
- out to payroll 12:30 - 4:15-ish
- groc. store?
- exercise?
- dinner: something simple which I don't know yet
- kitchen clean and dw running
- find handouts for moms group teaching I may be doing next week
- other odds and ends?

Have a great day, RunKitty.

Check In -
Called and pointed out error to pharmacy 2 and got mistake straightened out. They had actually caused me some trouble, plus dr's office confusion, but all I got was a half-apology like it's not their fault. ? frustrating.

Some church paperwork done
leftover AV fertilizer water to rose bush

I had grabbed a pencil and written down a complaint from HRH this a.m. It's to give to dd, but ya'll will smile.

When we left for school run we had left HRH watching morning news and getting ready. When I got back from school run, HRH was standing with Tobias on the walkway near the kitchen door - with door open - staring off into space with an irritated posture ( I have learned to identify this from a distance). I dared to ask why.

"That last blast of weapon's-grade scentonium your daughter released right before ya'll left drove us out of our own house."

(Oops. smile. no, no - serious face :| ) That would probably have been a hair product. I think she does have one that seems heavily perfumed, probably to cover the underlying odor of the chemical mist, lol. That would be one of the last things dd would do before leaving. We must tell her to cut back on the products in the a.m. and turn on the bathroom fan if she uses much!

Hmmm.....dh called to find out the name of the pneumonia vaccine that his hospital chart online says he was overdue for. Actually there were 2 -one was the Prevnar and the other Pneumovax. I knew that his Dr almost gave him a pneumonia booster shot last year but when he reread his chart realized he'd had it the fall before (2013). He figured with all his heart and lung issues it would be a good thing. So I figured he was all set. WRONG! Marvel of marvels, this new Dr. told him he really needed both of these -only one would cost him $95 because it's so new. Not sure which one, but he ended up having them both. Surprise, surprise. Guess there's new serum out there and they're just trying to give him all the protection they can. So I looked my own up as I knew when I've asked that the Dr's office said I didn't need a new one. But now my chart also says I am 'overdue' for both of these. So will ask Dr when I go in June. Have a feeling I'm going to end up getting them both as well.

Wondering how dh likes this new Dr. Hopefully all is ok as I'm not sure what his next move would be.

Just finished my coffee so guess I'll go find something to do. (Not that there's any lack thereof!)

Good morning everyone!

LOL Harriet - gas mask? :D

Hit the floor running this morning. Last night I swept and wiped the floor in back of bedroom furniture pulled out during mattress re-covering project. I'd been waiting for clean sheets to dry at the corners where clothespins had been... and it was very late. When I'm up very late working I'm always tired the day after...and I was woken with a customer call saying he was coming. Yikes!

Got LOL folded. Got another pre-spotted and twirling. Dailies done. Check written and deposit copied and ready to go. Talked with customer who dropped off form. He's pushing us to get his project done on time before his lease is up and we're scrambling, not easy since one Helper failed to show up today. Sometimes a paycheck causes this..... :(

I'm trying to figure out the best time to go out and run these errands. Know DH is wanting to get his trucks moved around so I'm trying to schedule around him and he never knows things ahead of time.

Dee, hope your DH likes his new dr.

BSaver, are you disappointed that after all your work DMiL is moving back?
