Yes, strength is in the forefront of my mind these days, Harriet. I know I've let some slip away. Toward that goal I ordered a new walk video called, "Older Adults Walk". Hope that's a good buy for me.

I read and (no) surprise dozed pretty heavily. Now perhaps will get a little something done.

Oh yikes! Just looked at my calendar to add something and realized dh was to see his gastro doctor yesterday morning. Now I'm wondering if he remembered (without me there to remind him). I could call but I know he's extremely busy right now. Hoping he remembered as he's had so much other medical stuff going on and a fully loaded plate besides.

Just ordered a f ire s tick which won't be here for nearly 2 weeks. Decided to go ahead and get it so we could just plug it in here. Plus it will travel easier than our R oku -sent that home with dh. I'll surprise him when I get up there and plug it in to the bedroom TV -then he can watch in both the living room and bedroom. We had the r oku in the bedroom until he decided he'd probably watch it more in the living room -we don't have cable.

Back home after an afternoon out.

Picture taking went really well. We get an 8 x 10 for free but I don't like that size so bought three 5 x 7's as well. The shot of just me is exceptional so we bought that for me to use on my preaching website and the corresponding one for dh to use, if he wants, professionally (he thinks he can't because he's in a Hawaiian shirt but I think that emphasizes his semi-retired status.)

The last one is the same as the 8 x 10 but will go on the table behind our bed. That's where we keep pictures of us. It is a feng shui thing - you should have pictures of you as a couple in the bedroom to reinforce that you are a couple, so we have a picture from the trip where he proposed, our wedding, then the last church photo book (the previous one had the kids in it too.) In theory you shouldn't have pictures of your kids in the room, but I have a few, well away from the bed. They used to be in the bathroom but we don't share a bathroom anymore and both want to be able to see the pictures (one of them when they were young, another as young-adults.) The main display of the kids is out in the living room.

From there we visited at the general store, then on to Costco where we ran into the children (now adults) of dh's boss when we were first married. Dh was employee #2 in the company and we knew the kids well as they were growing up but I haven't seen them in 18 years. At first, I thought, "My John's wife looks like his mother!" but then he named her as his sister. She really looks like her mom did at that age. And was so warm and happy to see us. We all live in the same neighbourhood now (we had no idea but brother and sister each have bought homes near where they grew up.) I drive by their old street from time to time and remember them. They had to sell the family home to finance the company in the early days.

I got the deck box I wanted and we then went on for groceries from Walmart. I checked out possible balcony decorations while dh stood in the line up. I didn't buy anything but am tempted by the solar strings of lights.

We are home, the car unloaded and dinner will be started soon. I still haven't written the sermon. Sigh... The service is done and I have a few lines for the sermon. I'm hoping that it will flow after I start working on it.

Sure Harmony has experienced this many times, as have we all......wait all day for a 'service person', etc to show up. Right the man who was to check the roof has still not been heard from or seen. DD did text him a while ago but has had no answer.

Have a dratted mosquito in here! He flew by my ear a while ago and I just saw him again. But I can't get my hands together for a 'clap' so am very unsuccessful at swatting at a bug. First one we've ever had in here. But no reason they can't just fly into the house when the door is open. One thing I do notice is that mosquitoes are much darker here than up north. And I'd forgotten about love bugs until dsonil mentioned seeing some the other day. Forgot about that nuisance. I will be having to get my car washed for sure once they really start hitting. Need to find a nice easy place for me to take it.

Yes I had a sensational Saturday. Last load is in the dryer now.
Transplaned four roses I got starts of last year, didmthat this morning. Then headed to town to try to get a better idea of what was avalible for a path. Did not really find what I wanted but got a smoking deal on a very large pot for the front of the house.

Then h called was off work just in time to help haulmit home in tne truck.
spinning meeting was. ot as much fun some of the members of the origional guild that I have had probs with in the past came sigh was hoping n ot to have to dealwith them again ever. Not the case. At least they were on good behavior today.

Groc store run done today.

Dinner was fish and chips. I do the fish (faux frying in the oven) and dh does the chips (deep fried.) It was very good.

I've cleaned up about half the mess and left the deep fryer for dh.

Still need to finish the sermon (about 1/4 done now though.)

BTW: picked up a 12" cast iron grill pan from the giveaway shelf. We have a 10.5" pan but has lower sides and is larger. We are finding the pan is an excellent substitute for the bbq but too small to cook more than 2 servings at a time. Now we have two, we can serve 4 people at a time. It was quite dirty (looked like it hadn't been cleaned after its last use and is rusty) so I cleaned it before dinner and just gave it a light oiling. It is BF brand which seems to be Brian Flay (someone I've never heard of since I don't pay any attention to cooking shows.) He seems to be out of favour now since I can't find the pans for sale any more but a similar Lodge one would be $34 so it was another valuable find on the shelf.

it's easy to forget as I get two batches of med/supplements in before I do the B12 and often forget. But it sure makes a huge difference in energy for me.

Sounds so much like me, although ideally I would take B-12 rather early in the day, so might like to get ahead of supplements, really. Of course the thyroid must be first. Then later as I get though my first water pint of the day I like to have my probiotic with the last half-cup or so of that so that it will be "on an empty stomach". I suppose after that might be the best time for the B-12. Hmmm... ..

Kathryn, what about photoshop to give him a nice solid blue shirt instead of Hawaiian?

The ceremony was well attended. Many did leave the Highland Games for it, which surprised me. Fife and drum in uniform were charming. They had the descendants pose for a group photo, which was nice. And then cousins orchestrated a closer family photo as well. Boy cousin wasn't going to get in it since camera was his, but I put my foot down and insisted that another attendee be asked to take the photo so he could. The rest laughed at me taking so much control over that, which is out of character, but I know - it would be a moment's inconvenience weighed against a long time of all wishing we'd done differently. No contest.

Very proud of my cousin from Georgia who spoke and also helped unveil the plaque in her tartan, which is so rare a new fabric that it fooled me into believing she must have worn one from some other branch of her family (authentic period dyes - ? - I did not know such fabric was even being woven anywhere, and certainly did not recognize).

The crisis of the day is that even with precautions both dd and her young man were sunburned at the Games. Sigh. His mother has already seen his, but she hasn't seen what I have now that he's brought dd home - that it's gotten progressively more impressive. Double sigh. They've sprayed with some kind of after-sun preparation but could not find an aloe vera product.

I'm here. I have stayed caught/uop but can't seem to post. I am slowly plugging away at the list of things that need done before we leave for KC on May 4. We had planned to leave May 5 but they want to see him the day before his surgery. So we are going earlier than planned.

Dh's dsis has been in the hospital again. She should be getting out tomorrow. I am really concerned about how fragile her health is, despite her still being in remission.

Last night both dds,1 dgd18 and I went to see the movie "The Longest Ride". It was very good and S cott Eastwood is a hunk

Today dgd is 4. We are waiting for them to call when they are ready for the party. This drives dh crazy, but you just have to go with the flow and not get upset over the little things.

Dgd4 and dgd5 are in soccer. Today was their first games. They will each have games on Saturday and Sunday for the next 3 weeks and then will be done. It is so fun to watch little kids. They mainly kick the ball and run in circles for 30 minutes.

Dh is still working on our bedroom. He still needs to put in a new door to our bedroom and the floor trim and will be done. Nothing is plumb in this house. The last 2 days he was so grouchy that I told him that as far as I was concerned we were done. We would put in new carpet in the hallway, living room and dining room plus he could take off my shower doors and call it good. Oh no, he wants to finish it. Well then quit complaining. I told him he was doing an excellent imitation of my dad and that is not a compliment. I was absolutely sick to my stomach. I felt like I did when I had to listen to my dad. I told dh that the next time he does that, I am going to call him by my dads name and I will go shopping.

Harriet, I was so happy to hear that Sweet Caroline was able to go home and that you had special bonding time with her. Isn't modern medicine remarkable? Was so sorry that dd16 and her date were so badly sunburned. That was a date that they will each remember for years to come.

I had more comments to make and my mind is just blank. Imagine that?

Now my mind is twirling. Just found out through a prayer request from our church that the secretary who had gone to MI to be near her mother, has now rented a studio apartment and plans to stay for at least 3 more months. Not sure what that'll mean for me. There must be others who can pull a bulletin together, right? Thought dd and I will discuss it and then with dPastor. I'm sure there are ways I could do it from up home but there's more responsibilities than just the bulletin each week. Food for fodder........Of course things are much lighter over the summer as a good portion of our membership goes 'home' up north. It'll all work out just fine. I'm almost thinking since dd has been doing power point that they may end up doing just that for the summer or at least until the secretary returns. DD could do her portion from up north as well if needed. But I do think there's a man who is going to fill in for her while she's gone.

Now that I have that off my chest/mind I can go to sleep.
