Hello, hello, to everyone! No, the storms did not blow us away around here -- just a hectic weekend. We had a lot of rain and thunder, but nothing serious.

Wanted to tell Molly's Nana, I been hurriedly cuop, (catching up on posts) and saw a little about your stage in life. Wanted to tell you I'm right there with you... * whew * My dmom just turned 70, and has a lot of chronic health problems. I live in a pretty much constant state of guilt for not doing more for her. My ddad passed away in 2013, and dmom has been a little at loose-ends ever since. (They were married 52 years.) DS and ddil are trying to get dmil's house renovated a bit (dmil passed away last June) and get moved into that house AND just found out a new grandbaby will be joining dgs! (DGS will be 3 in June.) So there is a LOT of nana-duty around here, too. DH and I are both retired, though, and very much enjoying that aspect of life. Dfil passed away in 2012, after six years basically bedridden, so the last few years, however, have made it very clear to us what the "sandwich generation" is all about.

This weekend, as I told y'all, we went to college town for spring football and baseball. Like Harriet's dd and her young man... I can NEVER remember that I desperately need sunscreen. * sheesh * It's not a bad burn, just a little itchy around my neck. Fully expected to be wearing raingear all day long, and then the sun came out and it was a beautiful day for both events.

We got home a little before midnight, picked up dgs, and he spent the night so we could be sure he made it to church Sunday. (DDIL has been having a lot of stomach distress with this pregnancy, plus just has a hard time getting herself there w/dgs when ds is out of town.)
DGS had a rough night and awoke about 3:00 a.m. crying. Nothing would do him but to "lay down w/Nana..." so he and I slept in the recliner.
I'm not complaining. These days will pass all too soon, I fear.

Sunday afternoon, had to go to a wedding shower for dcousin. (3rd cousin?) That was nice, although y'all know how much I have to force myself to do these things. Enjoyed talking w/other cousins who we seldom see anymore except for funerals, and a high school friend I never see since our boys graduated.

Last night, dh and I went to see the Ben Stiller movie, "When We Were Young." It was funny but a lot more serious than I expected. I really like him though, so I guess I would recommend the movie to others -- just don't expect to be ROFLOL for the full 2 hours.

So... today. I better start moving.
PODA:
[ ] call dmom, tell her we're coming out to get her truck
[ ] load stuff for * last time * for auction
[ ] call allergy doctor for refill shots
[ ] call doctor for copy of wellness check up for insurance
[ ] Wmart
[ ] keep dgs while ds/ddil go to auction
Probably some other stuff I'm not thinking of right now. One thing is staring me in the face right now, typing church notes from last Thursday night... but that doesn't HAVE TO be done today, so it can wait a little while longer.

Sooo glad baby C is home, Harriet!!! Such wonderful news, so many answered prayers.

(((Harmony))) for dh and "issues."

Pictures... LOL... oh my... that is a HUGE question here.
We have a ton of pictures at dmil's that dbil thinks he wants to get copied. In fact, he probably thinks I will scan them and print them, but that is NOT happening. I think actually, they will just stay at ds's or we will bring them home with us, and if he ever wants to search for a particular one, he will know where they are. I think this is going to prove to be more of a job than he bargained for, and like the household possessions, he will end up losing interest and just turn it over to us.
He and dh have already taken all the framed pictures of themselves and their children, and dh brought home all these pictures of ds and just set them up in this sort of display on ds's dresser in what is now the baby room. It looks ridiculous... like some sort of museum display or something, and I have told dh when ds gets moved, that is going to have to go -- either with back to ds, or into albums or something.

Of course, I have albums and albums and albums of pictures. And more pictures needing to be put in albums. I probably take too many, and I now try to remember to print pictures ddil shares on Facebook, for dgs in the future, b/c I know ds & ddil are not printing all these pictures. When I was little, I absolutely LOVED looking at my grandmother's pictures, and I want to have these for dgs. And dgs2/dgd, whomever this new little one will be. ;)

(((Rose)))

(((Twins)))

Waving to EVERYONE!!! Hope y'all have a great day!
Tomorrow is another day.

It's been my experience that the next generation (whoever they may be at the time) only THINKS they don't want all the saved photos. Then later it's a different story. Of course I will admit that there are too many photos in my home.
But all of this was before posting pictures on Facebook or emailing them was the norm. Now a young mother posts something on FB and considers the picture sharing done. And those photos are not suitable to print and frame, the resolution is too low.

Exactly.

Grocery shopped early-early this a.m. as planned and dodged the downpour that caught HRH as he was doing the chicken chores. He got inside, heard the whoosh, looked back at the hens and realized their feed was under a bad drip, so went back out into it and had to change shirts.

DPC was tackled this a.m. and I untangled, long-distance, a correspondence confusion at the church. "Lets do it this way." Now, if all will just do how I tell them to do, things will be fine. lol. As a matter of fact, I have several matters that could be worked out quite well that way!

Cathy: re septic system. The main thing is to limit the amount of water that goes into the system. We followed the rule "if it is brown, flush it down, if it is yellow, let it mellow" (sorry if that's TMI!) and I'd make sure I did one large load of laundry and ran a full dishwasher. All our appliances were water saving. Because of those actions, that might be why we had no idea the septic field had failed. I also used SepticBac which puts good bacteria into the system to help it work.

Because of my allergies, I don't use scented products so my detergent was already all-natural. And I switched to all natural cleaning supplies when dd was a baby and never switched back so that wasn't an issue either. In all the time we were there (24 years), we never had an issue with the system (even though it had failed!) That just goes to show how gentle use of a system can keep it going far longer than one would expect.

I would recommend you get an excellent inspection. A building inspector looking at ours (checking the tank, flushing toilets, walking the field looking for signs of wet or excess green) would have thought it was fine. It was the guy digging down to analyze the field that discovered the field wasn't where it should be depth-wise and that it had failed. Just the field (and putting a new one in, not removing the old one) cost us $23K so I can't stress enough how important it is to get a quality inspection.

Slow moving today.

I did get the car mats cleaned.

Dh and I walked to the bagel shop for lunch. We got completely soaked (it is a soaking rain today, much needed so I dare not complain.) Our coats and hats are hung up drying now.

I've picked up the mail but not processed it yet.

I've booked a meeting for Friday re: finances.

No work has been done on the parking spot yet. I'm busy writing out a year of post dated rent cheques. Need to get those in by May 1 (I've already paid May's rent as a deposit so now put in a second cheque for the month and the deposit is held until we move out.)

Quarter-sized hail (weather service's words - I would say like large marbles) fell here for several minutes, so loud and alarming. :( HRH had called us because he was tracking it, suggested we not attempt the errands we were considering. He sure was right about that. The thunder, lightning and high winds afterward were rough, too, trees bending. Limb down on the driveway but I can't see anything else wrong. Hope not. We're in a flash flood warning until 7.

I've been nagged so much lately for my lasagne that I decided to pick up the ingredients at grocery this morning. Had a plan of inviting ds' little family, but at this point I see no way I will invite them here when we can't even get into the house without having to change shoes. No telling how long before all this seeps into the soil since we were just swollen with rain water everywhere before today.

And now another call from HRH saying the second band is closing in on the house, so to expect it now. No fair piling on!!!
LadyM, don't you want some of this, please? I think I shall send it to you now.

Now don't you send Wild Weather to Lady M, Harriet! By the time it gets to her, it will be a tornado and the water will not be worth it!

Speaking of not worth it.... Sigh, it was parking spot 161, not 181 that needed to be emptied today. So we did that for nothing. Two hours of work. Everything is back in place now. The reason we knew of the error is I sent dh with the rent cheques and he asked what they had intended to do since nothing was done today. I'm particularly annoyed because we called and confirmed we were to remove the tires and tire rack as well, so it isn't as if they didn't know we had received the letter, not 161. Next time, we'll call and ask exactly what work will be done. If it makes no sense, we'll confirm they actually were referring to us. I ran into a lady today whose car is in the middle of the current no-go zone in the garage (the other side is being torn up and repaved this summer.) She never got a letter telling her to move her car, so is waiting to see what will happen.

By the time we came in to go upstairs, there's a sign saying the power will be out 8 hours next Monday. I commented to dh that the letter doesn't mention the elevators should be working (it mentions residual heat since the radiators will be hot but there are no fans.) He commented that we knew they were working so why should the letter. I pointed out that we knew that because we talked to the super but not everyone else will know that and if they are putting in heat info, you'd think they'd mention elevators. Then I pointed out that we'll have to make alternate plans because we won't have internet, phone and dh's computer's battery only lasts about 3 hours. So next Monday will be interesting.

Dinner meat is starting to defrost. I'm in a mood and would rather go out but I started the defrost early, early, today so I want to keep to the plan. Besides, we went out for lunch.

Harriet, that sounds like what we had early evening yesterday then overnight as a second round. We had gone to Old Chicago pizza to eat (salads, split pizza rolls appetizer) and had just got into the car and got moving when the bottom dropped out.

Round of going is done. Body work, then went by drugstore for one of the guaifenesin expectorant cough meds. Also drove out to SU lady's house to pick up my last order - with dh out of town for the weekend I may have more time to stamp, and I'll miss the next "Stamp club" anyway so can't pick up then. Also stopped off at what was one time a rural cemetery where I have relatives on both maternal and paternal lines buried. I took some photos, altho realize now that they are already on Find a grave site.

I left a phone message for our vet about dogs. I don't think we're there yet but I'm pretty edgy. [TMI advisory] When I got home just now, I had to clean up both dog pee and poop on the hardwood floor. And I still need to clean up stain on the rug by the breakfast room where I picked up poop this morning. And I haven't cleaned up what I found upstairs (that could only be Moses) this morning. On Saturday, I had to clean up the back patio where some one hadn't gotten to the yard, and then we had a lot of rain and looks like someone might have stepped in it also. (And I love my dogs, but I feel like I just can't wash my hands enough.)

Dh is on the way home, we're meeting neighbors at nearby restaurant at 6 p.m. for supper.

Hi Everyone! We just had a storm pass by here a little while ago, with a tornado warning attached to it. We did have home wind, thunder and lots of rain, but the worst of it was about 10 miles south of us. I'm sure Dee doesn't need anyone to tell her it is headed her way. Looked like it might have started raining the same time the storm was over us!

((Twins')) and ((ddogs))!

Harriet, time to stay indoors, dry and safe!

Good luck with the plans for your new house, Cathy! I never lived in a house with a septic system, but my dAunt M who ran a dairy farm had one. They also used the same flush system as Kathryn!, especially during the dry season when there wasn't a lot of rain.

Not a lot happening at my house today. Took care of dailys early enough. Today was desk day, so that is all caught up to date. I fed the copier another ink cartridge and started to copy all the family heritage information I had for ds-T. He is very interested in learning as much about dh's and my family as far back as he can. I have a lot of pictures of our early family, but a lot have no names. I can guess at who some of them are just by where they were made. I have taken a lot of pictures of our dgkids and have several albums started, but I have a lot more to put in the albums. I don't take as many pictures as I did since I've retired from the photo lab. We still get the school pictures of all the dgkids! I think it's important to pass along as much information and pictures of dfamily as one can; it keeps the family cohesiveness intact as far out as cousins and in-laws! Otherwise, future generations lose track of one another and sometimes don't even know one another!

However, that being said, even though I now have enough ink, I have run out of paper and will need to make a trip to the store for another package of copy paper! Tomorrow, probably....

That's all for now; take care everyone!

Hi friends! I've been on track today, thus I haven't posted earlier. This also means I haven't cuops.

In general, if I'm posting here a lot, I probably shouldn't be.

Today, I have:
- done a.m. routine (minus making my bed - that often gets left out)
- edited tutee R's essays
- tutored R
- chatted w/ dh for almost an hour when he called from Switzerland
- washed, folded, and put away 2 lols; there's still one more to dry/hang out
- prepped for class this afternoon
- payroll: out 1 - 3:55
- gone for a jog (I feel virtuous; the sky started spitting on me, but it wasn't heavy enough to turn around
- done dinner
- reclaimed the kitchen 2x - once in the a.m. and once in the evening
- taken out a lot of garbage from when 9 girls slept over here Saturday night
- cleaned and put away about a dozen eggs

Still to do: take care of that lol and make progress on moms group teaching. I'd like to invest at least 2 hours this evening, but it is getting late now. I have 2 past handouts on this teaching to help me, so that is good. If I can get the general flow down, that would be wonderful.
