So sorry for your loss, Norma. I know the pain never really goes away and you will miss him until you see him again. Glad you feel peaceful and know all is well with Bob and with all our loved ones.

Re: Sunday Shine
((( Norma))), RunKitty said it so eloquently what I was thinking.
My df who moved away 4 years ago, called awhile ago. I was fine until she asked how I was and I fell to pieces. Luckily dh was eating lunch and I had went downstairs to talk.
I have decided that packing and mowing the lawn is my focus. Everything is in it's place, so I'm not going to worry that it isn't recently cleaned as in vaacuuming, dusting and mopping.

Oh, Lilac, reading your posts brought back memories of how frantic I was the days / weeks up to DH's last operation. I was running around like a chicken with it's head caught off. It just felt better to be doing something, and the preparations felt like the thing to do. Looking back, I'd have been better off if I'd taken better care of myself, getting more rest. Maybe I wouldn't have "crashed" so badly afterward. Please take some minutes for you today.

Re: Sunday Shine
That's a long time ((((Norma)))). I recognize your feelings. Actually the date of our daughter's passing will be the 2nd day I'm on the road to go north. I really wanted to be up there to loft some purple (her favorite color) balloons. You are blessed with the knowledge that you will once again see him.

Harmony, you just described me to a T. With the 2 dgds graduating 10 days after the surgery and company coming to town for it, it has added stress. Dm and her 2 dsis will stay at a hotel. Dsisil will stay here. I just want to be home, hopefully by a week from today.
I am so glad that I can keep up with the village on my smartphone while I am gone. I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

Re: Sunday Shine
That is sooo true, Kathryn! So never feel like you can't post here in the village if you are having a terrible time. There will be someone who will benefit from your posts even if they seem like 'downers' because that person will realize they are not alone in what they are facing.
I did not post last night b/c I was exhausted! But we had a wonderful time. It was really the sort of thing our little town needed after all the terrible political climate we’ve just been through. Lots and lots of sour people on social media, but yesterday, our little town square seemed just about like Mayberry. I enjoyed seeing so many people I don’t often see – one of my very best friends from kindergarten on… neighbors from across the pastures… former co-workers… and best of all, my mother’s very best friend and my neighbor whom I rarely talk to beyond a wave on the road, and her daughter, a former student and dear friend as well. They were both there and as I told her later, that was the best medicine my dmom could have! Dmom hasn’t seen the daughter in forever – well probably since ddad’s funeral – and hasn’t seen the daughter’s children since they were babies, I guess. Girls are 7 & 9 now, I think, and just precious.
Of course we enjoyed seeing ds and friends perform locally, and that was good for dmom, but most of all, I was just glad to see her out and about and enjoying seeing people she seldom gets to see.
DGS went home dirty as a little pig and quite happy, I think.
It was a good day.
But I did see the posts about all the injuries yesterday and wanted to send special (((Hugs))) to Harmony! Did you not consider going to the ER for stitches? Another reason I think you and my dmom are twins separated at birth – dmom ALWAYS went into a cleaning frenzy when she was angry. Ooohhh… the oven sparkled, the refrigerator was cleaned out, woe to anyone who got in her way…
Also big (((HUGS))) for Dee as she waits and worries, and (((Mr. Dee))) as he recovers.
(((Lilac)))
(((Norma)))
Waving to ALL!!!
Today has been a good day so far, too. DS & family were all in church. We didn’t see dgs b/c we didn’t wait around till they got him from the nursery, but it does dh sooo much good to be in church w/ds. DS just doesn’t realize what it means to his dad, and he is out of town a lot on weekends, so these times are few and far between lately. Ddil sang in the choir and it was just a nice morning.
We invited them out to supper but I think they are going to decline, in which case we will enjoy a slightly “calmer” meal and probably go to a movie.
Hope you all have a great evening.
Tomorrow is another day.

Re: Sunday Shine
I'm exhausted but had a good day. I need to get moving now because I've been sedentary all day. It took 100 minutes to get to my friend's church, sat for the 90 minutes, moved to the church hall and sat for an hour, drove to the restaurant and sat for 90 minutes, drove around town (toured another church MF wanted me to see) and then back to his church to discuss stuff. Finally the 100 minute drive home which went quickly for me because I was reading a church liturgy magazine, filling my head with ideas that I can't use immediately.
A lot has happened with MF's church and the community since we saw each other 2 months ago. I'm glad I see him in another 9 days because more is coming. The church we toured is thinking of shutting down, sent a letter to neighbouring congregations of all denominations so we went to look at it and then worked on rewriting MF's response to their letter. We talked a lot about what the letter said and didn't say, what their minister had said and not said (she is retiring early), and I said what I thought and he looked at me and said I was probably right, there's been some sort of split in the congregation.
It is a shame because the church has one of the prettiest sanctuaries I've ever been in. Plus it has a full church hall with proper stage (and lighting) and full kitchen up to code for serving meals, and yet the congregation despite trying all sorts of things, is dwindling. Of course, this town of 16,000 people has 3 large United Churches, as well as Anglican, Pentecostal, Bible, Catholic and Lutheran churches (sometimes multiples of each of those.) MF is going to try and get me into the third United Church when I go up on the 12th. I think he really wants me to understand what is happening in his life so we can talk about it.
He had already written a response letter which was to be passed by the board but then we went into the church and he realized he had to rewrite the letter to better acknowledge the feelings of those at the church that might be closing. He sent me his next draft before dinner and I edited it and sent it back to him. We used to edit each others work years ago and I miss working with him because it was so much fun and I learned so much from him.
That's what I love most about spending time with him - I learn something every time, even if sometimes it is just patience!
I left his church with books he wants me to read and he confirmed he was the one who probably recommended the one from the library I'm struggling through now. He did give me permission to stop reading anything that is written in a style that I have to struggle through. He no longer bothers - says life is too short to bother with writers who don't have a good editor!
We got back to the city at 5 and picked up a frozen chicken pot pie for ch and then had a light supper at home. I'm over on my calories for the day but not as badly as I would have been had we gone to sushi and I had Chinese. He's going there tomorrow so we went to my favourite crepe place instead.
Now I need to finish up my service for next week. I worked on it in the car and have some ideas for the sermon. I won't get the sermon done tonight but I'd like to have the rest of the prayers written before I go to bed.
Dh is taking the night off (he's taken all the weekend off, in fact) and is watching a YouTube channel ds introduced him to.
