THINKING THURSDAY

Post by DeeClutter »

So far that's about all I've done -"think". Thinking about Mr. Lilac and trust he's still doing well. Thinking about Lady M, praying they're all ok (also glad they have that indoor shelter now). Thinking about how I'm going to arrange my day(s) once dsonil is here during the daytime. Thinking about something LucyLee said last night =
I'm taking B-12 and I think it is helping me somewhat,
I definitely believe it's helping me too. Thinking about countdown to being ready to go north. Thinking whether we can make it to Dunn, NC that first day. Right now we have reservations in Lumberton. DD has to look ahead since there's 2 of us driving cars AND has to have pet-friendly motels. Did find there's a site online that shows pet-friendly hotels only. That's been a big help.

I actually have managed to do one thing this morning (other than s2s & meds) -I have the bed stripped and twirling in the washer. I'm thinking I'll do another load after this finishes -that will take care of me until next week sometime.

I'm up earlier than usual because the parking lot construction started at 6:30 instead of 7:15 this morning. Looking forward to the weekend, although I don't get to sleep in on Sundays. At least it won't be the endless noise. Oh, and today is fire-alarm testing day.

I've closed all the windows on the North and and East sides (it is the east parking lot) but can still hear it in the kitchen because the table is next to the balcony. Dh has it best in the office. I may end up setting up a desk for myself in there. To say I'm going nuts is not an overstatement. And we are only 2 weeks into the summer-long project. And next summer they'll do our side of the parking lot so it will be the kitchen and office that is directly blasted by the noise.

In the 'thank heavens for blessings' department we have two. First we can escape to the other side of the apartment and if you put on music you can't hear the sound as much and it is calming. Secondly, we are high enough up that our windows can remain open if we need air flow (and we do because the temperature is in the 80's plus the heat is still on in the apartments.) The first few floors of the building are completely inundated by concrete dust and dirt (they removed the gardens and trees outside their windows and are now jack-hammering the roof of the underground parking lot.)

Today is the day I have to get the year end accounting done. I did work a bit on the expenses last night so the ones for which I have a paper receipt have been logged. Still have to do the email receipts.

Edited to add: That's not all I have to do but just that the receipts aren't finished yet.

I'm up, s2s, just finishing my tea, washer is on and another load ready to go and the bedroom and kitchen are tidied. So there's progress. Dh is out for lunch and dinner so I'll have the house to myself and my meals are all planned so there's no cooking, just heating up. In other words, very little to distract me from the year-end accounting.

Harmony - OH! I get it now. Yeah, right, like I'm going to bother Mr. Turkey Gobbler. He is as safe as a babe in arms around here. No designs on his drumsticks whatsoever.

Sunny, these flower reports really are strange, hmmm... ... what kind of blossoms are you having so early? At this point, my azalea has done about as expected. I'm wondering about the new rose bush, because it seems to be all leaves and no sign of blooms. Perhaps it has been TOO soaked lately. I'm pretty sure it was blooming Mother's Day last year.

"my grandma thing" - I, too, did a grandma mailing, and got four Onesies in the mail to dd35. size 24 months for the darling 9 month old, who is growing like a weed and cannot wear his 18s any more. We were going to wait but dsonil has to work this weekend so I just decided to mail. (Not as cool as SIX letters to grandchildren, Harmony - wow)

Honeysuckle - we know it's around by the aroma, for sure.

lucylee and Dee, happy to hear you seem to be having good experiences with the B-12.

Naps - I can suddenly need a nap at the drop of a hat. I was putting it down to possible food allergy for a while, until it happened when I'd had nothing all day except a smoothie without dairy.

Nap time for sure yesterday as I waited in a parking space for dd at her interview.

They changed the venue and interviewer wanted her to come to their place of business in big city. There she also met several of his coworkers and the boss/owner. She was completely star struck by these sophisticated architects. While I sat outside pretending I didn't exist, she was shown around their posh offices, newly renovated in a classic 1920 building. She left firmly believing they really want her for the job, but admitted they hadn't said so. So I had to remind her that they are used to making great impressions and then tough decisions, and could be interviewing plenty of applicants.

From her parents' point of view, this would be a good choice. Depending upon the hours, it is a quicker trip from our house than many of the potential jobs. At the time we left though, 5:05 or so, traffic was frantic.

blessed and lucylee, I'm grateful for each of you to hear the better reports from uncles lately.

Lilac, this unsettling time is almost over and your family will be home.

helia, I hope dh is right and you won't have these drainage troubles any longer.

Good morning, villagers ~
Thanks for opening the thread, Dee.

I'm glad to see Lilac's posts that Mr. Lilac's surgery went well.

From Twins'Mom yesterday:
In other news, I turned in my keys to the temple building yesterday. :D
That will make your summer more fun! 8-)

In the middle of a week full of meetings -- has me thinking about which volunteer projects I want to phase myself out of next, and how FAR out of the groups I want to get. Do I want to totally resign from the boards of both the library and sewing groups at the end of this year? I keep making the assumption that they would be manageable if I could cut out everything except the Treasurer's basic duties, and JUST do the bookkeeping -- but that would still leave me going to a lot of meetings, even if I could get away with not serving on any committees. :|

Thinking about this topic today because I spent an hour decluttering in the dining room yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Then I had to stop doing that to s2s and get ready for last night's meeting, which was not a long one but was frustrating. :P

It occurs to me now that maybe what I need to do is plan a good long vacation, like 2 or 3 solid weeks without doing any volunteer work whatsoever. July? Hmmm ...

Today I drove myself the hr each way to a support group at edge of the city. Not sure how/if that will work out. There is another one a bit closer, though atm to coincides with fortnightly home helper.
I'm still wanting to ring the help agency and see if I can change helpers.
Also A nice ph call w dd2.
Just begin.

July = vacation I think, Booksaver. Sounds like a good plan for you.
At the time we left though, 5:05 or so, traffic was frantic.
Is there any time it's NOT "frantic", Harriet? I remember getting on the main N/S route at 7:30/8 and it was awful. At the time we'd awoken to a flat tire and had to wait for A A A to come change it to the 'donut' and were trying to get to a tire repair place -at HRH's suggestion. Good place to go but oh my -getting there! Then we had to go back to the hotel to look for the insert of the tire -never did find it and had to order a enw one from E bay. At any rate I don't think there's any real 'good' time to take that trip. So proud of your dd btw. Hard to believe she's already to this point from the 7 or 8 year old we met -oh just a couple of years ago -right?

Threw my sheets in the dryer and have a second lol going in the washer. Want to make a W mart run in a while and pick up 2 or 3 gallons of water. That's about all I can handle in one trip -the cart gets to heavy for one and secondly it gets too tiring carting them into the house.

Only have a half handful of dishes to do but may do it as they have a way of multiplying by dinner time.

Took my sheets from the dryer. Started loading the contents of the washer into a basket to put into the dryer. Hrrmmmpphhh! I was a couple of armfuls done when I realized the clothes weren't even wet. Not sure if they didn't go through the wash cycle or if water just never came in. They're going now -just sets me back a couple of hours.

I've been listing things I can do in the bedroom/bath/office during the day while dsonil sleeps. Figure I'll close the door between the office and the hall. That should pretty well muffle sounds from here. I have a good list going -some of which I could do now but will wait for next week.

First step, part done. Have to phone for instructions.

My washer is on the final spin cycle, then I'll start the dryer.

Dh has a phone call and had to shut all the doors to the office because of the noise. At least the fire drill is over and won't come back.

Next up, start inputting banking. That should take me to mid afternoon.
