Trying to figure out if I can buy a modem myself. At nearly $10/month that's $120/year. I can buy one for less than that. And I think they tried the "Turbo" upgrade before. Not that I have ever noticed!!

I was trying to read too, Harmony -same problem here with my eyes. I had planned to take an allergy pill as I had 'frogs' and was quite raspy this morning. Forgot. LucyLee, I've heard that the pollen problem up north was worse this year because of the harsh winter and all the pollen triggers blossoming at once.

Re: Successful Saturday
(((Twins))) Wish I could give you a hug irl. I can't imagine losing one of my dogs, let alone both of them so close together.
Hmm... We're in synch with Dee's family. Dh and ds just hooked up our new printer last night. That will make my payroll work (and moms group work too) easier to do, for sure.
Well, the only thing in which I've been successful so far today is taking it easy.
Maybe that is OK. It's so nice to have a day without payroll. No small group or other commitments/meetings either. It is also nice being a family of 5 again, though there was a fairly long argument/discussion during dinner last night - between ds and dd19, ironically, who had just spent the week together at the camp up north.
It is 12:40, and all I've done today is QT, a couple emails, mentally outline my devotion for moms group steer. comm. meeting Tuesday morning, sit down with the family for breakfast (I just ate yogurt with apple cut into it), a little pupa, help clean up the kitchen, s2s and self-care.
Things it would be good to do:
- groc. store run, just for items to get us through to Tuesday?
- go for a jog before it rains again
- laundry
- change sheets on bed
- post weekly grades
- take a look at materials for a quiz, which I'm giving on Wed.
- make dinner tonight: chicken cacc., salad, bread
- we're talking about a family trip to the movie theater tonight. Which one to watch - that is the question. The Avengers is a good possibility, but dd16 was planning to reward herself with a showing of that movie with friends after AP exams are over this coming week. .. . We might be able to talk her into watching it twice.
OK, I'm off to work on the groc. list. I can't do laundry until after dh has showered. He went for a run this morning. His time was a little higher than he would have liked, but he did a 12 mile run 2 days ago, and he figures that did impact his body.

Re: Successful Saturday
Lucylee, well you won't believe this, but I used just plain water on the floors. I vacuumed it first. Our problem isn't really dirt, it's the sand from around here. When I used to use a soap in the water the floors began to get "sticky" and the dust mop or the broom would not brush smoothly, so we could tell there was a residue building up on the floors. Our tile is very smooth with a shiny surface. I don't have any problems getting everything up with just water... even in the kitchen where there is often food spills or coffee drops. I do have to go over a couple black shoe heel marks. For that I use the ceramic cook top cleaner and rinse a bit. Works like a charm. I find it easiest to do floors the old fashioned way, with a string mop. My bucket has one of those funnel things on top that I put the mop head down into after getting it all wet and I twist it and it wrings it out..so I don't have to touch the mop head. DH likes the microfiber velcro mop head one we have, but that needs wrung out by hand each time. With my way I can swipe the baseboards too as I go along. Short question, long answer.

Thanks for the answer, Harmony! You know, someone else recently told me their grandmother used only water with a little fresh lemon juice.
I'm thinking about the endless problem of the bathrooms, you know... b/c I've got a man w/poor aim.
But I guess the main thing is to Just Do It -- whatever you mop with. Of course, I guess I am doing the best I can, b/c although I do not mop the whole bathroom often, I s/s around the toilet area at least every 2-3 days. Every day is the goal, but sometimes I miss a day or two.
Extra allergy pill is leaving me feeling a little drunk, I think, but I've got to get enough antihistamines in my system to be able to endure that festival next week. Three days outdoors...

Dh is home. Sermon wasn't done then but is now. Yay! (BTW: I did cut that section, not so much because of giggling but because I was headed in two directions at once with the sermon and had to pick one.)
While I was working this morning I also painted my toenails so they are ready for sandal weather. It is hot and muggy here so I'll be wearing sandals tomorrow. The retirement home isn't air conditioned so it will be hot tomorrow afternoon.
Our a/c isn't on yet (I tested it in the bedroom) so it might be a rough night tonight. Thankfully, it is cloudy so the west side of the apartment won't get as hot through the day.
I think I'll propose a brief walk and then get back to work on the bookkeeping.

Re: Successful Saturday
Very hot day here. At long last, I got the tomatoes into the ground. Dh is going to mow later so I also did a round of poop scooping, and we went to l owes for mulch.
Dh and ds have gone out to buy a Mother's Day something and dd just showered and went out also. We are going out for pizza tonight together. Everyone is pretty short and edgy today, with good reason.

Re: Successful Saturday
As the day has progressed, I've been pretty successful at napping (in between the lines!) DD/dsonil are back now.
Got a picture via text from DS-A showing dgs2 and dsgd15 in the pool. Obviously it's quite warm up home too, Kathryn. But I understand it's going to turn to rain and cooler temps.

Re: Successful Saturday
Hello Everyone! We're having a nice day here, a slight breeze; temp is 81* but the sun feels hotter since there are no clouds.
Well, my success...I was able to get all the terrazzo floors mopped and carpets swept, kitchen cleaned, bedroom neat and tidy and two loads of laundry washed, dried and put away by 1 pm. I heated a bowl of veggie soup for dh and I and we have been relaxing this afternoon.
Dfam#1 was supposed to be here today, but ds#2-C called to say ddil and dgs9-D were not feeling well. He said they will come tomorrow. So, I'm assuming dfam#2 will be here tomorrow also, we will have a full house with six or seven adults (if ds#1s dmil comes) and six dgchildren.
((Twins'))!
Dh has supper on; two small steaks, grilling, and spaghetti squash. Have no idea what to have tomorrow, but I'd better think about it!

Re: Successful Saturday
~~~waving Hi to all~~~~~
I'm taking a break. The little ones are taking a nap. I just came inside from digging drainage lines to speed the passage of water through our yard. OH! I didn't tell you!! We have received a drought breaking (hopefully)) amount of rain!! I have emptied the rain gauge several times so I kinda lost count of the total amount. I do remember emptying 4.3" plus 1.2" plus 1.3" plus 2.1" of rain from the rain gauge……and more rain on the way!
Tomorrow my side of the family is gathering at our home at noon to celebrate Mother Day. I'm not sure how many people are coming but expect it will be 3 or 4 dozen. Dmom is frying 6 chickens. I offered to buy the fried chicken but DMom wanted to do it the way she was taught and cooked all the years we were growing up. It is a tremendous effort t to cook it - Dsis told Dmom it would take her 6 hours to fry it the *old* way but that didn't deter Dmom a bit. She is actually looking forward to it. SMH. I'm doing simple dishes - green salad, cole slaw, baked beans and hot rolls (purchased). Plus drinks and paper products. I'm not sure what else will show up but I'm not too worried about it, we always seem to have an abundance of food at family gatherings.
I tried to talk myself into having DH side of the family here for dinner tomorrow night, but just didn't find the courage to host two large group meals back-to-back. If I didn't have a 3 year old to care for, I might have attempted it. DGD3 won't be able to have a nap tomorrow with everyone here so she will be a cranky gal by evening. Plus DDIL is sending DGS8 and DGD4 to stay with me tomorrow. I have no bandwidth left to add DH side of the family to the day. I feel a small amount of guilt because I dearly love and respect DMIL and would love to celebrate Mothers Day with her too.
We took the cover off the pool this week so I am in newbie mode learning about pool chemicals and care. I have never taken care of a pool and/or spa so everything is new to me. I'm confident it will be easy once I get a clue about the process, but right now it is foreign territory. Backwash, waste, DE filter, chlorine, PH levels, shock, soda ash, acid are all muddle up in my head. I am looking forward to getting past this phase and getting to the fun part of having a pool and hot tub!!
My newly developed menu planning system is working better than I had hoped. I am sooooo enjoying it! And it is just in the beginning stage of development because I have several aspects to add to it once I get the basic framework up and running. I am adding several meals a week to it. The meal planning basic is a 8"x11" print out containing picture of the meal with ingredients and recipe. It shows what a correct size serving is and the calories, carbs, protein, fat and WW points for it. Each meal information is contained in a page protector. I have put hooks in the kitchen to hang the entire day of meals. This visual aspect makes it easy to know what to prep ahead.
This post has taken me several hours to write - a few words at a time in-between doing things....DGD3 and LO care, preparing supper, chasing my dog down the road that DGD3 let out of the yard, preparing DH meds for the next 45 days, etc etc etc. I best be hitting submit.
